Lambretta ignition BGM PRO

The Lambretta ignition

The bgm PRO Lambretta ignition was one of the first of our bgm products. The latest version 4.5 with silicone cable is now available: bgm PRO ignition base plate

The first sample of the ignition base plates was presented at our stand at the Eurolambretta'07 in Neckarsulm. The base plate of our ignitions is based on the electronic ignition that was introduced in 1970 with the Lambretta dl 200 electronic. This Innocenti stator plate was later “adapted” by Piaggio for the Vespa. This type of ignition is probably the most widespread model.

In direct comparison, the bgm PRO ignition base plate gives an extreme stable spark and one thanks to the optimized number of turns and cabling maximum light output.

bgm PRO Lambretta base plate 4.5

With version 4.5 of the Lambretta ignition base plate, good things get even better. The good and proven properties of our ignition remain and have been optimized in many small details:

  • 120W strong light output thanks to the maximum number of windings
  • Proven excitation coil with copper plate for maximum reliability
  • Pickup with a carbon barrier layer for a clean ignition pulse
  • Neatly processed light coils
  • High quality solder joints
  • Gray and black bougier tube
  • Sufficient cable length for individual cabling
  • Optional spacers to adjust the pickup height when used with other pole wheels than the bgm PRO rotor.

New features

  • Base plate in black
  • Scale with degree-precise scaling for quick setting of the ignition when flashing
  • Silicone cables: extremely flexible & temperature resistant (-40 ° C to + 250 ° C).

The alternators are available as AC and DC versions:

      • AC = alternating current = light via alternator
      • DC = direct current = light via battery

Torque scooter

Tightening torques for screws and nuts on the scooter

How tight should I tighten a screw or nut on the scooter?

Here we have compiled a list of the manufacturers' recommended tightening torques. *

After fest comes off!

It has probably happened to everyone before, the workshop wisdom: "After fest comes off!" - KNACK and it has already come true.
No problem if you've only destroyed a nut or stud, it can usually be easily replaced. It starts to get annoying when you don't have a replacement.
Thread repair: It gets really annoying when you destroy a thread in the motor housing! This is often time-consuming and usually expensive, especially if it cannot be repaired with a threaded insert, for example. Before the housing has to be replaced or welded, there is often a Thread repair with Weicon Glue possible.

Screw loose?

In addition to too tight, there is of course not enough tight! Too loosely tightened nuts or bolts can be dangerous. You don't even want to think about what can happen if wheel nuts or brake discs come loose. Loose carburetors, intake manifolds or cylinders can quickly damage the engine. Depending on the area of application, there are self-locking nuts or threadlocking !

Always one after the other!

In addition, there is also the even tightening of screws and nuts to be taken into account. Everyone knows that from changing tires, here, for example, tightening is done crosswise to ensure an even fit. In the case of engine housings and cylinder heads, for example, stresses caused by unevenly tightened stud bolts should be avoided at all costs. There are even components that need to be fastened in a certain order. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions here.

Order of stud bolts Vespa engine

Wrong!

Right-hand thread? Left-hand thread? As a rule, nuts and bolts are tightened clockwise (to the right) and loosened counterclockwise (to the left) = normal right-hand thread. But there are also exceptions such as Lambretta pole wheel nut and left mirror: often with a left-hand thread.

Fixed!

For many purposes there are special tools, puller and particularly Holderwithout which parts usually cannot be removed at all. You will find the tool for your scooter model after the vehicle has been selected in the vehicle list:

Vespa special tools

In the case of tight connections, penetrating oil such as WD40!

Bench bgm PRO Lambretta Lui

Little Lambretta really big

The LUI was intended to anticipate 21st century design. Compared to all other previously built scooters, the design is significantly slimmed down and reduced. The implementation of this idea was in the hands of the Bertone design studio. With the LUI and Verga series, Bertone created a really avant-garde design. To this day, LUI and Vega look as fresh as they did in the spring of 1968, when with the slogan "All for Lui, and Lui for all”Was advertised. Only the performance of the LUI with a 50 cc engine is indicated (and rarely achieved in reality) 38 km / h below expectations.

At the latest since completely new possibilities in the tuning sky through the Casa Performance parts The small Lambretta models J, Lui, Vega and Cometa enjoy great popularity.

PMT Tires scooter tires for scooter racing

Made in Italy: PMT Tires

The Italian tire manufacturer PMT (Pauselli Model Tires) has been around since 1990. Originally, the company produced tires for RC cars and the mini-bike racing series popular in Italy. Since then they have also made tires for motorcycles and above all Racing tires for scooters develop, they quickly secured a top spot among the racing drivers' favorite tires. the PMT tires are available in perfect mixtures for the various soil, weather and temperature conditions.

PMT Tires

PMT Tires Rain & Intermediate

Slick, mix: hard

The slick with a hard compound is ideally suited for routes with high asphalt temperatures and heavy use from many alternating curves and braking maneuvers. The hard mixture is the most abrasion-resistant and can therefore be used very well in endurance / long-distance races. The warm-up phase for the optimum operating temperature (~ 80 ° C) is significantly longer with this mixture than with the "medium" or "soft" mixture.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Slick, mix: medium

The medium bridges the gap between the hard and persistent as well as the extremely well adhering but also quickly wearing soft mixture. The medium thus covers a very large area of application. Its optimal operating temperature is ~ 75 ° C and, like the hard mixture, requires a longer break-in period than the soft mixture to get up to temperature.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Slick, mix: soft

The soft PMT mixture offers full grip even at lower temperatures. Accordingly, it wears out quickly at higher temperatures and then no longer offers its full grip level. In return, it very quickly reaches its optimal operating temperature of 70 ° C.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Slick, rain

With the rain slick PMT offers a new interpretation of an intermediate. An intermediate with a slick profile was created here, based on the rubber compound of the pure rain tire. Ideal for changeable weather with equal proportions of wet and dry sections of the route.
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Rain racing

The rain tire from PMT plays in the highest league of rain experts for the circuit.
Whoever has mounted this tire needs a good excuse if it did not work out with a good placement ...
The recommended air pressure for the front is 1.2-1.3 bar and the rear between 1.4-1.9 bar.

Drag Race

PMT's drag race tires are ideal for all quartermile engines.
No grip is lost here and all of the power is transferred to the asphalt without slipping.
But that also means that there is no mercy for clutch or transmission ...

The extremely stable carcass ensures great straight-line stability and excellent line accuracy when cornering quickly. Usually, scooter tires are simply pressed into shape from a layer of rubber. The bgm tires are much more complex to produce and consist of several layers. The result is a perfect scooter tire with the highest speed rating on the market!

The bgm Classic profile pays homage to the profile type that is used in many models of Vespa and Lambretta was chosen as an OEM tire. It thus perfectly combines a timeless classic profile with the tire technology of the 21st century.

The key spiral - a classic rediscovered

I had one - everyone used to have one and it was 'cool', the key spiral! And with this video my heart opens up:

New spiral key ring from MOTO NOSTRA by Scooter Center

We scooter drivers, mods & scooter boys quickly discovered this practical spiral for us: because the different key types for ignition lock, steering lock and / or luggage compartment lock can be flexibly but securely connected to each other.

With this super lanyard, all keys form a unit, but do not interfere with each other during operation: the ignition key and steering lock / overhead locker key remain in their lock and are connected by the key spiral. Each of the two keys is quickly at hand and the paint is protected by the flexible PVC material.

We have the key coils in 15cm-60cm (the 15cm version can be stretched to 60cm) and 30cm-100cm (the 30cm version can be stretched to 100cm) length. The colored versions are translucent, ie they are colored but still transparent.

Provided with a key ring on both sides.

  1. TIP: Also ideal for e.g. house and car keys on the pants to fix!
  2. TIP: The tape can be shaped as desired with a hair dryer, e.g. if the angled end should be straight.

Spare parts for DellOrto and Polini carburettors

Carburetor spare parts: In our shop we also offer you small parts to repair the carburetor of your scooter. We have great explodedwith which you can each part easily identify and order quickly and easily .

Carburetor jets

Carburetor nozzles - size counts

We attach great importance to accuracy, especially with the smallest components such as carburetor nozzles!

Carburetor nozzles, these tiny brass parts are one of the most important variables that determine the behavior and performance of our engine. The choice of the right bore, i.e. nozzle size, decides here on frustration and pleasure while driving.

With a nozzle for DellOrto carburettors, for example, the number embossed on the nozzle indicates the Bore diameter on and at Mikuni the Flow rate and not the bore size (as with DellOrto, PWK etc.) specified.

A nozzle with the code “50” has a bore of 0,50mm and rises in the range of a few hundredths of a millimeter. A size 52 nozzle measures 0,52mm in the bore. For comparison: a human hair with 0,08mm would make a difference between a 50 and a 58 nozzle.

For many carburetor manufacturers we offer a wide range of Nozzle sets and a large selection of individual nozzles.

Tip: nozzle set for clean and effective coordination

The Nozzle sets, which we sell under our BGM brand, are checked at regular intervals. Not only are the fit and the external dimensions carefully checked, but the greatest focus here is on the accuracy of the drilling. The nozzles are measured under a microscope and compared with their actual size. The diameter is determined exactly to the µm. One µm corresponds to a thousandth of a millimeter (0,001mm)

Buy carburetor jets here

Carburetor nozzles under the microscope

Here is an insight into a 118 nozzle. With a dimension of 1,1779mm, the hole is in the green area with a deviation of only a thousandth of a millimeter and is therefore in order.

TranzLight turn signals

Blinker system that uses the new TranzLight technology (TLT, patent pending). This progressive development approach is not limited to the simple miniaturization of turn signal housings but creates the light directly via a crystal-like plastic body. Only precise optical CAD calculations and the most modern manufacturing processes enable this new design and its function.

The light flow required for the TranzLight principle is generated by the intensiLED® process developed by motogadget and consists of three important components:

  • Selected high-performance LEDs with maximum efficiency and a total output of 7W with a service life of more than 50.000 hours
  • An IC controlled constant current regulation clocked at 330kHz
  • A special collimator optic that couples the light from the LED precisely into the plastic body

The discreet aluminum housing is only used for stable attachment of the glass body and the integration of control electronics and high-end LEDs.

Of course, the housing is CNC-manufactured, schwarz eloxiert and finely inscribed by laser.

The handlebar end indicator is very flat and appears neutral and inconspicuous due to the transparent disc. Thus, it fits many styles and a wide variety of scooters and even on motorcycles, quads ...

The flasher can be operated like any common LED flasher with load resistors or with all of our load-independent flasher relays.

Benefits

  • Absolutely unique, independent design and functional principle
  • Hardly noticeable on the handlebars when switched off
  • Extremely bright light to the front, clearly visible light to the rear
  • State-of-the-art high-performance LED technology, IntensiLED
  • Electronic voltage conditioning and safe protection electronics

Installation instructions for handlebar end indicators

The m-Blaze disc is suitable for mounting on handlebars with an inner diameter between 14 and 21mm. Use the following sketch to select the mounting elements required for your handlebars: Motogadget-led-blinker-disc-installation-instructions_manual_

The m-Blaze disc must be mounted horizontally, the angle of the handlebar inclination must be in a range from 0 ° to a maximum of 9 °. Before installing the indicator, clean the inside of the handlebars. Only a clean and grease-free surface enables the turn signal to be securely attached. For the cable exit, drill a 3mm diameter hole in the underside of the center of the handlebar. Alternatively, a hole can be drilled to the left and right of the switch fittings. The hole must be very carefully deburred inside and out. No tensile forces may act on the connection cables. This can tear the cable out of the turn signal housing or chafe the handlebar exit point. Make sure that the cable is long enough and pay attention to the steering angle. It is recommended to protect the cable at the exit point with shrink tubing.

DAMAGE TO THE CABLE INSULATION CAN CAUSE A SHORT CIRCUIT AND A CABLE FIRE, THAT IS RISK TO LIFE.

Use the blinker marked “L” for the left side of the handlebar and the blinker marked “R” for the right side of the handlebar. Guide the turn signal connection cable into the tube opening and from the inside through the 3mm hole to the outside. Use a stiff piece of wire for this. Tighten the M8 nut on the indicator lightly so that the rubber piece spreads open a little. The indicator is pushed into the tube, the rubber piece must be in contact with the tube wall. By turning the indicator clockwise by hand (do not use any tools!) The piece of rubber in the handlebars opens. Turn the turn signal until a considerable amount of force is required to release the turn signal; the motogadget logo must still be visible from above. If the rubber piece on the inside of the handlebar does not expand, the indicator is pulled out, the connection cable is brought back to its original position by turning the indicator housing counterclockwise, the rubber piece is more pretensioned by tightening the M8 screw and the assembly process is repeated.

THE CONNECTION CABLE MAY BE DAMAGED BY TURNING TOO FREQUENTLY IN ONE DIRECTION. DO NOT TURN MORE THAN 4 TURNS IN ONE DIRECTION IN ANY ASSEMBLY ATTEMPT. BREAK IF STOP THE TRIAL AND TENSION THE RUBBER TIGHTER. TURN THE CABLE BACK TO ITS STARTING POSITION IF YOU TRY TO REASSEMBLY.

Connect the red connection cable of the left turn signal with the positive lead of the left turn signal circuit and the red cable of the right turn signal with the positive lead of the right turn signal circuit. Connect the two black connection cables to vehicle ground. The supplied crimp connectors are used for this. Test the turn signals for their function. If the flashing frequency has changed, you need an electronic, load-independent flashing relay.

THE TURN SIGNALS ARE PROPERLY MOUNTED AND COMPLY WITH THE LEGAL REGULATIONS IF THE TURN SIGNALS WITH THE MARKING “L” FOR THE LEFT SIDE AND THE TURN SIGNAL WITH THE MARKING “R” FOR THE RIGHT SIDE HAS BEEN BUILT IN AND ON BOTH SIDES THE MOTOGADGET LOGO IS VISIBLE FROM ABOVE.
