Also the Polini velocity stacks and Dell Orto SI 26 let's take a closer look. Why do you need this funnel anyway?

In the end it simply helps the carburetor to suck in more air and to ensure a better filling with fresh gases. More ignitable fresh gases in the cylinder ensure more available power.

A larger volume of air must of course also be fed with more fuel. That's why Polini has already put one in the intake trumpet for the 200 engines 138 main jet at.

There is also an undercut in the funnel in the area above the auxiliary and air nozzle. This fulfills the task of supplying air, similar to the effect of drilling open the original SI filter base arises and helps the carburetor to a significantly better tunability and throttle response.

Since the actual air filter is no longer required by using the Polini funnel, Polini has come up with a clever solution.

An air filter is mounted on an adapter for the carburetor pan.

When assembling the adapter ring you should make sure that you have all the grub screws of the adapter, as well as all necessary connections on the carburetor pan for Gas- and Choke cable as well as the connection for the Oil hose which can achieve separate lubrication.

The fact that Polini has already included a 138 main nozzle in the funnel set gives an idea of how much the air throughput could be increased. From a main nozzle size of approx. 130 you should take some precautions with the SI carburettor to keep the fuel supply constant.

First of all, a continuity test of the fuel tap should be on the program. For performance-oriented engines, the fuel tap should provide a flow rate of at least 280-300ml / min. Most standard petrol taps fail in this discipline, our remedy is here Faster Flow fuel tap.

Except for a well-functioning tank ventilation in the filler cap, can no longer be optimized in the tank area.

In the carburetor itself, however, there are also other bottlenecks which can have an unpleasant effect on the fuel balance.

The small float chamber of the SI carburetor must be constantly supplied with petrol under full load.

Unfortunately, the energy-giving juice must first pass through the eye of the needle "float needle valve".

The best way to do this is to swap it Float chamber cover against the variant of the Cosa carburetor .

On the right the normal SI cover, on the left the Cosa version.

In addition to the larger float needle, the valve bore and the needle seat are also made significantly larger.

We are also increasing the inlet to the float needle valve to 3mm.

Now we have done everything so that the float chamber is full of juice in every driving situation.

However, the carburetor still has a hidden bottleneck in store for us.

The inlet from the float chamber to the nozzle assembly.

The fuel must rush to the main jet as quickly as possible through the tiny hole in the center of the picture.

The crux of the matter here is that the bore is too small at 1,5mm from a certain main nozzle area. Approximately comparable to a 150 main jet. In order to ensure free travel here, the channel is drilled to 2mm. The hole on the left is only used to feed the choke system and does not require any further attention.

We are proud to announce that we from the members of the oldest and largest forum for classic scooters, the German Scooter Forum (GSF for short), were voted Dealer of the Year 2011!
We would like to thank you very much for this great honor!
In 2012 we will continue to accelerate so that the service is even better, the parcels even faster and the quality even higher!

At this point a big thank you to “M210” from the GSF,
who brought this vote to life completely unselfishly!
Thanks also to Maniac, the head of the GSF, who supported this campaign!

THANK YOU!
Your Scooter Center Team!

This week there is the final report on our conversion cylinder for the PX80. With this complete kit, each PX80 can easily be brought up to 125 cc displacement and benefit from the significantly lower insurance rates associated with it. All you have to do is change the cylinder including the piston and head, the short motor remains unopened!

Originally the 80ccm engine has about 5HP on the rear wheel.
The SCK conversion cylinder increases the performance by a whopping 60% to a remarkable 8PS, all with extreme reliability.

We are already above the level of a DR135, despite 10cc less displacement!
The diagram shows the direct comparison between the DR135 (red curve) and the new 125cc conversion cylinder.
In conjunction with a longer gear ratio (possible by simply replacing the clutch pinion), the top speed is also greatly improved.

Another big plus point is the significantly cheaper insurance due to 125 cc displacement instead of 80 cc.
In addition, with a vehicle that has been converted to 125cm, you are not only more confident and cheaper on the road, the consumption is also usually cheaper because the significantly higher torque means that you no longer have to constantly drive at full throttle in order not to represent a traffic obstacle.
Something that may only become apparent at second glance is the significantly improved resale value of the vehicle. Holders of a car driver's license, if it was issued before April 01.04.1980st, 125, are able to drive motorized two-wheelers up to XNUMXccm without having to pass an extra test.
As a result, the market value of the 80cc vehicles specially designed for the German market was reduced substantially overnight. Anyone who has the appropriate driving license will use a more powerful 125cc vehicle than a weaker 80cc drive.
The conversion will make the vehicle much more attractive for a possible sale.
All in all, the cylinder purchase pays for itself quite quickly.

Two vehicles equipped with the conversion cylinder were on the road for several thousand kilometers without problems or breakdowns in 2011. The drivers are very satisfied with the performance and the low consumption.
We will test a few more optimizations during the week, especially with regard to performance, and then give our GO.

Here is a direct comparison between an original PX80 with SITO Plus sports exhaust (blue curve) and our 125cc conversion cylinder with original exhaust (red curve):

Winter time is screwdriver time. And we want to mess around a little in our shop. Among other things, we want to revise our exploded view drawings for Vespa and Lambretta. We need you there.

Middle of the yearit presented Polini as the successor to the legendary 207 cast iron cylinderhe the new one 210cc aluminum Cylinder for the Vespa PX 200.

After first Test bench runs and experiments with different Cylinder heads, the new Polini was able to convince across the board.

However, when we measured the valve timing, we noticed that the cylinder can only be used to a limited extent on engines with a 60mm stroke due to its height and the upper L-piston ring.

After a few talks with the “Polinis”, in which we suggested designing the cylinder so that it could be used for long-stroke conversions, we received the EICMA finally the news that there will be a second version of the Alu-Polini. With a longer track suitable for a 2mm stroke and its own cylinder head.

We are looking forward to the new Polini!

In any case, the cylinder itself can already be seen as a drawing in the new 2012 Polini catalog.

The entire SCOOTER CENTER - Team thanks you for this great OpenDay. That was a great day with you and it was really fun despite the “Sunday work”!

More than 300 visitors found themselves in great weather on SCOOTER CENTER in Bergheim Glessen. It's great that you came in so many - many thanks again!

There was a lot to talk about over beer and sausages. Our bargain market for scooters and scooter tuning parts in the hall complemented itself perfectly with the private dealers, one of whom even came from the Netherlands. You could see many happy faces and some tuning and spare parts were sold as real bargains.

The achievements on the Test stand role were pressed! Both from automatic scooters, as well as the classic Vespas and Lambrettas. Over 38 hp pressed a Vespa PX on the roller and became the best of the day. Respect!

Our iron test rig team carried out over 60 runs in a short period of time. The income from the runs and a portion of the drinks go directly to ours Scooterists4JapaneseScooterists Fundraiser. Here 780 euros came together, that SCOOTER CENTER then put this buzzer on top again, so that 1.560 euros donated can be.

It was all well-rounded, and with the super nice atmosphere that you brought with you, it was really fun. We are already looking forward to the next OPEN DAY, and already have nice ideas with which we will surprise you - next year at the latest, because then we will finally celebrate 20 years SCOOTER CENTER!!

Your SCOOTER CENTER - Team

proportionalThe year is coming to an end and we are facing a new decade. That SCOOTER CENTER Team thanks its customers for their loyalty. Thanks also to you, 2009 is another successful year for the SCOOTER CENTER become.

Oliver Kluger Vespa Racing Nurburgrin 2009

Scooter race on the Nürburgring 2009

Since 2004, regular scooter races have taken place on the Nürburgring again.

We owe this opportunity to the MSC Porz, who offers a “regularity run” for classic scooters as part of the Cologne course. For most of us that means: evenly full throttle! ;-)

The SCOOTER CENTER has been represented by the racing team every year since 2004.

On Saturday was heavy rain in the dry SCOOTER CENTER Box grilled and screwed in the paddock.
We were able to greet many friends and familiar faces again. The hard core was swept out of the box at 1:30 - after all, the first training session was scheduled for 10:40 on Sunday.

Sunday came up with the best weather. During training we had 20 minutes to determine the fastest drivers and then to determine the starting grid. In the first row of the grid there were 1 starters from SCOOTER CENTER Team (Harry Barlow & Christian Schneider).

If the weather was fine, repairs and maintenance work could be carried out in the open air after the first training session. After the SCK grill had given everything again at noon, the race started.

The Green Hell took its toll: of 65 starters, only 45 made it to the finish (cancellations, no accidents)

The SCOOTER CENTER Team was able to record several successes:

Place 2 Christian Schneider (Regularity evaluation)
Tanya Kluger - fastest woman in the field ;-)

The next appointment at the Nürburgring for classic scooters is September 13 “Renoldus Sprint”

The SCOOTER CENTER is looking forward to it!

The SCOOTER CENTER The move is done.

Preparations for the move to the new service and logistics center have of course been going on for a long time. The hot phase of the move was this weekend from October 3rd to 6th.

The whole team as well as many friends and helpers gathered early in the morning to collectively clear over 15.000 different items in the old warehouse and transport them to the new building on the other side of the street and put them away in the new storage locations.

We were a little sad when the warehouse cleared and the last shelves were dismantled. After all, we were in this one for 10 years Building. But everyone was happy when we finished moving and we are now in the new center.

The new service and logistics center at Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 1 offers us much more space and the most modern logistics. For even faster and more reliable order processing. Our scooter tuning store is also located in the new building - we look forward to your visit!

During the move, some delicacies turned up, for example our very first advertisement from 1989, which we don't want to withhold from you here.
