New LML frame instead of just a new paint job

Just paint the scooter again or do you prefer to buy all sheet metal parts new and already painted?

Repainting an old scooter has now become expensive. Many painters have already misjudged how many parts of a scooter have to be painted. The curved shapes of the frame have their pitfalls and the preparatory work often takes many hours. So the fair paintwork, which you get with a lot of luck for 500 €, usually remains a one-time affair. So if you are just about to decide whether you want or have to repaint your scooter, this is sure to be very interesting for you: New roller frame, completely and completely painted, by LML.

Than us a Special LML parts was offered, we were initially skeptical. It should be a delivery of LML Star and NV 150. Completely in individual parts that were originally intended to be assembled in the recipient country. The LML Star corresponds to our Piaggio Vespa PX Lusso, the NV 150 basically corresponds to the good old Vespa T5.

We researched and took a closer look at the part numbers. Exciting, because in addition to tons of small parts, we discovered interesting connections. Sheet metal parts all seemed to have been painted in the same color…. Now we got a little nervous - very interesting story.

Our inquiries showed that it wasn't just isolated sheet metal parts in the same color number, they were complete sets! Packed in an export carton, with all painted parts that are needed to rebuild a scooter: SUCCESSFULLY

We came to an agreement. Even if we had to swallow. what else should be purchased in the package - we will probably take some small parts with us in retirement ...

It is an item that LML had made. At LML, the T5 were called "NV150" or "Select" and the PX is still produced under license as the "Star". The LML quality is hardly inferior to the quality of Piaggio. Sometimes the finish of the parts is a bit rough but they were built for the toughest demands you can imagine: Indian roads.

So why have your scooter repainted when you can get all pre-painted sheet metal parts from us as a set?

Frame set LML "Star"

The LML Star Frame we have in the variant with disc brake handlebar lower part or with drum brake handlebar lower part. The frames consist of:

  1. Frame (like LUSSO: with internal locking lever)
  2. Two side hoods (inner closure)
  3. fender
  4. Overhead locker with flap
  5. Cascade (Lusso model 84-98)
  6. Handlebar lower part (either drum brake mount or disc brake mount)
  7. Handlebar upper part
  8. Switch handle

The cascade is the old, classic Lusso cascade, the side panels have no holes for lettering, the frame has holes for step ledge sets and the overhead locker has no holes for small items. The steering heads have drilled holes for the electric starter button.

To dye:
We can currently deliver kits in the following colors: rwhite, ivory, graphite metallic, orange, silver and black.

 

Frame set LML NV150 / Select

The NV150 come with PX fenders and the lower handlebar cover has the opening for the handlebar screw. They consist of:

  1. frame
  2. Two side hoods
  3. Fenders like PX
  4. Luggage compartment with lid
  5. Cascade in T5 style
  6. Handlebar underbody
  7. Handlebar upper cover
  8. Speedometer border (unpainted)
  9. Links
  10. Switch handle

Again, there are no holes in the luggage compartment or side panels, but the rectangular cut-outs in the leg shield for the floor mats. These frame kits are not only charming as a replacement for the T-five riders but also as a conversion for the PX riders, as the LML NV150 use the normal Lusso fork (hence the opening for the handlebar screw). We offer the fork complete with disc brake, so that even more interesting station wagons can be created.

All new parts with a new paint job

All frames are UNSTAMPED, meaning they have NO chassis number and no prefix. After consulting with the TÜV, we received the following information: You can have the vehicle identification number transferred, since you are using an exchange frame for a vehicle involved in an accident. The sheet metal with the old number on it is enough for the TÜV and then it hits the number on the test center. After consultation with the responsible test center, you can do this yourself and you can only have it certified by the examiner.

It is best to clarify this aspect BEFORE at the test center you trust because everyone handles it differently.

If you no longer have the old sheet metal and only have the letter, you should consider alternatives such as those in the GSF ( www.Germanscooterforum.de ) to be discussed.

Conversion of old PX to Lusso

If you want to convert an old PX (year of construction 78-84) you should think of the following points: The old PX speedometer is too small, so either repaint an old PX steering head cover or convert it to a Lusso speedometer. The PX old fork has a different steering lock mount, here it would either have to be converted to a Lusso fork or the PX old fork modified. The LML frame does not have a mount for the external closure of the side panel.

Limited availability

We bought a large number of parts, but also this one Stock is limited.

Quality

The paint quality is mostly ok but not perfect: small scratches or small dents can be found somewhere on every set.

But the price is all the better: 999 € for the LML Star and € 1.049 from stock, Bergheim-Glessen for the NV150 should make it easier to decide whether to have a new paint or a new frame.
