Easy construction

The manifold, which is divided relatively far down, enables the exhaust body to be dismantled quickly without having to remove the manifold on the cylinder. The connection is secured by tension springs in a stable but quickly releasable manner.

PIRELLI SL26 3.50-10 alternative

Pirelli has now stopped production of the sporty PIRELLI SL26 3.50-10 scooter tire. The tire for Vespa, Lambretta and Co. is no longer available.

The bgm PRO Lambretta ignition was one of the first of our bgm products. The latest version 4.5 with silicone cable is now available: bgm PRO ignition base plate

The first sample of the ignition base plates was presented at our stand at the Eurolambretta'07 in Neckarsulm. The base plate of our ignitions is based on the electronic ignition that was introduced in 1970 with the Lambretta dl 200 electronic. This Innocenti stator plate was later “adapted” by Piaggio for the Vespa. This type of ignition is probably the most widespread model.

In direct comparison, the bgm PRO ignition base plate gives an extreme stable spark and one thanks to the optimized number of turns and cabling maximum light output.

The bgm PRO Variomatik uses a shorter V-belt reinforced with Kevlar than is usual for Quasar engines. Engine power directly on the rear wheel

The countless dyno and road tests have shown that the 250 / 300ccm Quasar engines do not need any harder or different counter pressure springs than the standard ones. The entire engine power is not dissipated in frictional heat but ends up where it belongs: on the rear wheel.

Vespa GTS variomatic test

With the Piaggio series variator, the engine runs into the limiter much earlier. In terms of the speed axis, the power is maintained significantly longer, which is noticeable in a higher top speed.

Compared to the Polini set, the bgm Vario does not work at an artificially increased speed level to catch an aha effect. The Polini Vario unfortunately buys its (too) high speed level with a poorer efficiency.

Maintaining the same acceleration speed as with the series engine means that our bgm Vario-Kit means that the engine is not subjected to higher loads and that the power output is pleasantly linear. In everyday life, the superiority of the bgm variator can be clearly seen in a direct 1: 1 comparison.

Why should I convert a Vespa to electronic ignition?

These are the advantages of an electronic ignition!

After the retrofit, the former weak 6Volt on-board network is available powerful 12 volt light output. The previously self-regulating electrical system is switched to a reliable and bulb-friendly controller control (e.g. with BGM6690) changed. We have our own brand bgm, tried and tested a thousand times bgm PRO ignition base plate revised and even better did. Particular attention was paid to the very high quality of the bobbins and the pickup.
In addition, the cabling was converted to textile-sheathed silicone lines. A special gimmick is the cord already attached to the cable branch for easy pulling of the cable harness through the cable duct in the motor housing. The base plate now also has a degree of precise scaling for easier setting.

Compared to a conventional electronic ignition, the BGM Pro HP V2.5 ignition base plate has specially combined coil windings.
This significantly improves the efficiency of the alternator and offers a high light output of 120W.

In contrast to a Vespa PX ignition base plate, the BGM Pro HP has one longer and differently laid cable branch so that the ignition base plate can also be perfectly mounted on older vehicles. In addition, it has an adapted base plate contour so that it fits perfectly on engines before 1977 (with a larger shaft seal seat than PX).

CONVERSION TO ELECTRONIC IGNITION

When converting from a contact ignition to this base plate, another fan wheel, a voltage regulator and a CDI must be used.
A possibly standard old voltage regulator, like the series ignition coil, is no longer required.
With the BGM voltage regulator BGM6690, a battery (12 volt battery required) can optionally be charged while driving. The old wiring harness can still be used, but the previously individual circuits must be combined here, as the voltage regulator only offers one outlet to the complete power supply. It is easier to convert to one of our conversion wiring harnesses (e.g. 9077011).

Everything necessary for this is available individually or as a set.

PLEASE NOTE
The alignment of the crankshaft in the engine housing, and thus also the position of the pole wheel, is the same as the old one Largeframe Engines (recognizable by the same-sized crankshaft bearings with 25x62x12mm) are significantly more variable than, for example, the later PX engines.

The crankshaft bearings are not fixed in the engine housing by a circlip, but simply sit with a slight interference fit in the housing. Various tolerances (e.g. the width of the shaft sealing rings, worn bearing seats, orientation of the cone on the crankshaft) can lead to significant deviations from the originally intended positioning of the shaft in the crankcase. A prerequisite for a correctly working ignition is that the pole wheel is perfectly aligned with the ignition base plate. Otherwise the trigger surface in the pole wheel will not run parallel to the pick-up, which can lead to misfiring. If the ignition does not produce a spark, the fault is usually to be found here. For easy rectification, we offer spacer plates (BGM8000S05) for the pickup on the ignition base plate. This allows the correct distance to be restored in a simple manner.

In your own brand bgm we use our entire know-how for the development of new products. They are brand new bgm tires "Sport" and "Classic". The newly developed Scooter tires are of course Made in Germany! Our tires are available in two different profiles, initially in size 3.50 / 10, i.e. in particular Tires for classic Vespa and Lambretta scooters.

Modern technology for the old engine

A big advantage of the BGM PRO crankshaft compared to an original one is the use of a high-quality connecting rod with needle bearing (instead of a plain bearing bush) and a slotted lower connecting rod eye. This significantly reduces the oil requirement so that the engines can use today's high-quality oils without any problems 1:50 mixture can be driven.

The SportTouring bench is manufactured exclusively for BGM PRO by a traditional bench manufacturer in Italy.
It combines all the positive qualities of one tour-friendly bench familiar with the Look of a sports bench in retro style.

FRAME & COVER

A powder-coated, solid metal frame serves as the basis. This follows the contours of the frame very nicely and can also be used on vehicles with a high tank (e.g. Rally, GS160, SS180). The beautiful seat cover with waffle look on the flanks and embossed quilting on the seat, together with the gray piping, offers a great, harmonious look. It also offers good slip resistance and a matt surface. The cover is not only glued but, as was common at the time, also hooked onto metal tabs in the frame.

HINGE & LATCH
