A Lambretta exhaust test: the new and upcoming Lambretta Big Box is currently in production. A delivery date is unfortunately still unknown.

The Lambretta exhaust systems in the test

Before we sent the final sample to Spain, the new box was put through its paces again. Lambretta exhaust test: Another prototype box from our friend Chalky from Replay Scooters and JPP  came directly to the test bench:

  • bgm PRO BigBox Proto
  • JPP box prototype

The following resonance racing exhaust systems competed against the pits:

  • the TSR Evo,
  • the JL3 and
  • in MB3

And all three Reso systems did better against the speakers than we would have expected!

Result & conclusion of the test

Nice and clear to see how good the box is from the start Performancebut also with plenty of torque scores in comparison to the 'racing exhaust systems'.

This is exactly what makes the bgm PRO boxes so nice to drive. There is always enough power available without having to struggle with gear connection problems or having to turn the gas like crazy to get things going.

The moderate consumption values ​​of the engine concepts with the bgm boxes are another advantage, apart from the original look and the pleasant background noise. Another outstanding feature is the protected fastening system with adjustment options in both horizontal and vertical directions. This allows tolerances and, above all, spacers used to be compensated for different strokes and connecting rod lengths.

We have revised our crankshfts for Lambretta. We worked with the manufacturer for almost three years and we are very satisfied with the results. The testing lasted as long as the development work.

The new crankshafts for Lambretta are available with 58 mm and 60 mm stroke and 107 mm, 110 mm and 115 mm conrod:

Darren Conneely of the Team Replay successfully tested the bgm PRO Competition crankshafts during the BSSO competition of the season 2018. Paul “Chalkie” White of the Team replay mounted on the Lambretta Group 4 the cylinder bgm RT 195 and the new crankshaft bgm PRO Competition. With a power of over 30 HP on the rear wheel and up to 11,000 rev / min that was a real endurance test.

And while we intensively tested these crankshafts on the road, Darren, with our crankshaft, took the second place in the Group 4. Congratulations!

  • Forged connecting rod with CNC finishing
  • Hardened and precision ground bearing surfaces and oil seal seats
  • Broad selection of stroke and connecting rod combinations
  • Quality assurance of each individual crankshaft through 100% ISO and QC certified manufacturer testing

 

Remaining features:

  • Full circle crankshaft for increased primary compression
  • Forged crank webs
  • Reduced engine vibration thanks to fully balancing with hidden pockets, copper and tungsten balance weights
  • Lubrication of the lower conrod bearing via two large lubrication slots
  • Stroke pin diameter 22 mm

 

15 years experience in crankshaft development

there is 15 years of experience with building our Lambretta cranks. The development of this new and massively improved type has taken another three years of development work and tests to realize a shaft that offers maximum anti-twisting stability.

Team Replay used a selection of bgm parts during the BSSO race Series in 2018. Replay's rider Darren Conneely finished the season in Group 4 on a 2nd overall using the new crank.

Abbiamo migliorato i nostri alberi motore per Lambretta. Il lavoro con il nostro costruttore è durato quasi tre anni e siamo molto soddisfatti del risultato. I test Hanno la stessa durata del lavoro di progettazione.

Nous avons amélioré nos vilebrequins pour Lambretta. Maintenant nous les faisons fabriquer chez un autre fabricant et le processus complet -depuis l'idée jusqu'au lancement- a pris presque trois ans, mais nous sommes très satisfaits avec le résultat! Hemos mejorado nuestros cigüeñales para la Lambretta. Ahora los mandamos hacer con otro fabricante y el processo -desde la idea hasta el lanzamiento- ha tardado casi tres años, pero estamos super contentos con el resultado final. Las pruebas duraron lo mismo que el processo de desarrollo.
