This year's Vespa World Days will take place from Thursday, June 11th to Sunday, June 14th, 2009 in Zell am See. Around 3000 Vespa fans are expected at the world's largest and most important meeting around the Italian cult scooter. The program includes excursions into the Pinzgau mountains, events and festivals, as well as an impressive gala dinner on Saturday evening.

The Vespa World Days 2009 in Zell am See are all about the encounter between the Pinzgau tradition and the Italian way of life. For four days, the traditions and lifestyle of two myths will mix. The Pinzgau with its breathtaking mountains, the cultivated tradition and the colorful folklore meets the lifestyle of the cult Scooters, which once moved an entire nation and is still a symbol of Italian joie de vivre.

The binding registrations we received prove that this event has already met with a great and positive response in the Vespa community. Ok boss Franz Schmalzl was able to announce in the last few days that 3000 Vespa drivers from 20 nations have registered for the four-day event. Almost 250 clubs have confirmed their participation. Numbers that clearly indicate that the worldwide fans of the iconic scooter have welcomed the venues in Zell am See and Kaprun with anticipation.

The starting shot of the Vespa World Days is on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 with a unique trip to and on the dams of the high mountain reservoirs in Kaprun. In the evening the “Vespisti” enjoy a rich picnic by the lake with young bands playing on the lake stage. The day after (Friday, June 12, 2009) the trip to the Grossglockner is on the program, as well as a Castle Night at Kaprun Castle in the evening, framed by a suckling pig meal and top bands in the castle courtyard. Saturday (June 13, 2009) begins with an imposing corso around Lake Zell, which is accompanied by lots of action and interesting stops. The gala evening is framed by a large avant-garde show with performances by top musicians. On Sunday, June 14th, 2009, it will be time to say goodbye. So that the “See-You” and “Ciao” pain are kept within limits, there is a huge early pint with delicious delicacies from the area and regional music.

Europe-wide Vespa meetings have existed since the 1959s. Almost ten years after the first Vespa was built, some drivers met in Paris (2) for a two-day event. From then on, meetings under the name “Eurovespa” were held in different countries every year. A Eurovespa meeting was organized for the first time in Austria in 1961 in Salzburg. This was followed by Krems (1987), Vienna (2003) and Krumpendorf / Pörtschach (2005). As more and more Vespa riders from other continents came to the events, the event was given new structures and was held for the first time in 2007 in San Marino under the label "Vespa World Days". Zell am See not only received the great task of holding this event, but also the privilege of holding the first meeting outside of Italy.
