Vespa 98 II series 1947

1947 - Vespa 98 II series 1947

A total of 98 models of the second series of the Vespa 16.500 were produced. The second series model also featured various technical and aesthetic improvements. It was also equipped with a spare wheel, because the risk of a puncture was quite high in the catastrophic condition of the roads in the post-war period; this extremely functional element then became a trademark of Vespa over time. As part of the second series, improvements were also made to the vehicle's headlights and the metallic silver was reminiscent of the Piaggio business aircraft. At that time, many magazines spoke of waiting lists of 8 months to purchase a Vespa 98 and for this reason this Vespa was sold on the black market for almost double the price of 125.000 lire!
