Vespa models for racing

In 1949, Vespa began developing models for racing that were built with the same aluminum alloy used in aircraft construction. In addition, the models were equipped with rivets, alloy wheels and other technologies that were considered to be advanced in the 40s. The tank and the position of the steering wheel gave the motorcyclist greater autonomy and, consequently, improved driving style while maintaining high speed. The Vespa 125cc Corsa was used in numerous races and celebrated numerous victories with Giuseppe Cau and Dino Mazzoncini, because they won first and second place at the Grand Prix of Bologna. In the same year, Cau won a race with a Vespa 125 on the Perugia circuit. At that time there were only 125 prototypes of the Vespa 6 model worldwide.
