Business partners for almost three decades - friends for life
Oliver Kluger leaves the Scooter Center .
Ulf Schröder continues what we have built up together.
It's the year 1992. In the central organ of the German-speaking scooter scene - the Motoretta - there is a message that Oliver will now officially operate the scooter and parts trade in a professional manner. He is not only known for his Vespa GS / 4 Good thing with Malossi Motor, but also through a lively trade in everything that makes the scooterist's heart of the 90s beat faster
Permanent trips to Italy bring replenishment and with the free movement of goods in the EU in 1993, things get even more dynamic. But Italy is not enough and Oliver takes the risk India a container of new SIL GP 200 to order. The daring is rewarded and the Lambrettas are actually delivered in May 1993. The complete delivery of the 25 scooters is awarded within three weeks.
Has parallel and not far away Ulf developed a similar business model. But here is less Italy than much more England in focus the desire, quasi the other motherland of the cult around the Italian scooter. Just in time for the appearance of Scootering - the Motoretta for England, only older and bigger - he is on the way to the ferry every month. The classifieds offer sufficient potential to keep up with more and more Lambrettas, Vespas and tuning parts of the big English shops to start the return journey.
In January 1994 is it so far Oliver and Ulf bundle their strengths and from then on do it in the rose garden Scooter Center Cologne. To the classic Vespa and Lambretta scooters join them Automatic models from the house of Piaggio. Suddenly there is an e-mail address to order and then there is probably that first webshop for scooter parts worldwide.
A remarkable success story begins. What started out of a subculture around motor scooters has become a worldwide cult around vehicles with small wheels and free access. And the Scooter Center supplies everyone daily and reliably.
Almost three decades are also a long time and Oliver is beginning to miss the atmosphere from the early days. Somehow he wants to know again. The love for the Italian icons and for traveling is unbroken and it will be interesting to see what Oli will surprise us with.
Ulf takes over the fate of the Scooter Center alone from 2021 and is well equipped for the next thirty years with his long-term team, who have played a major role in the success story.
