New rectifier for Vespa (horn rectifier) ​​bgm PRO

Vespa rectifier bgm PRO: the genuine Piaggio rectifier for Vespa PX and PK is no longer produced by Piaggio, but no worries! Here we present you our new bgm PRO rectifier for Vespa scooters with 12V alternating current (AC) on-board voltage.

Much more than a replacement for the genuine rectifier!

The newly developed bgm PRO rectifiers are already available in our online shop. Here some of the technical features:

Use of the rectifier

The bgm PRO horn rectifier is designed for installation in vehicles with 12V alternating current (AC) on-board voltage and its usage is not limited to Vespa and / or PX / PK. The rectifier is not earth-connected, which means that current flows directly to the horn (via switch) and the horn output can be connected directly to the vehicle frame.

Completely load independent LED turn signal relays are not easy to find. The integrated relay also works with LEDs which consume less thanks to 1W.

Charge mobile phone and sat-nav from your Vespa

Now you can charge your mobile phone or sat-nav while on ride and without battery. Just connect the rectifier output to the USB charger (12V) and the charger's grounding output to the frame. The device will be loaded with up to 3A - this is sufficient for most devices for a charge from 0 to 100% in 60 minutes (the charging is disconnected when blowing the horn).

Smaller mounting shape

The bgm PRO horn rectifier is much smaller than the genuine Piaggio or replicas. It can also be used on older vehicles with conversion to 12V on-board voltage without having to replace the genuine horn with an AC horn.

The BGM Pro horn rectifier is a high-quality replacement of the genuine part of the Vespa PK, PX, T5 and Cosa models which is no longer produced by Piaggio. Furthermore, this rectifier also has an integrated blinker relay for LED indicators and a USB output.

The bgm PRO rectifier is not just a replacement, since it has a rectifying function for direct current horn you don't have to fit a horn with alternating current. While on ride you can charge efficiently your devices such has mobile phone or sat-nav. LED indicators can be directly connected to the rectifier and hence you don't need to mount the conventional blinker relay. The rectifier can be perfectly used with the bgm PRO complete wiring loom (for conversion to 12V and electronic ignition for Vespa V50, PV, Sprint, Rally, VBB, etc).

  • BGM6710KT1 - with adapter wire for integration in already mounted wiring loom incl. Waterproof connector plugs
  • BGM6710KT2 - with connector plugs for single wiring with direct connection to the rectifier

LML – the last manufacturer of classic geared engines scooters

We took sad news from the English online scooter magazine Power off .

LML, the world's last manufacturer of classic manuals scooters, seems to be on the verge of a definite end, but we hope that the tide is still turning.

Who does not know the history of LML "click"(https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohia_Machinery_Limited). In its history LML has built licensed productions of the popular Vespa models:

Mostly quite close to the original, sometimes a little more idiosyncratic, they were always popular low-cost entry-level models, which were particularly distinguished by their economy. The Indian reality simply required different priorities and so longevity and economy was a clear sales argument.

At peak times, 30,000 scooters rolled off the assembly line every month and LML was thus not only serving the Indian market. Classic PX models have also always been very popular in Asia, Iran and various African countries. Egypt was one of LML's main markets, which unfortunately became their downfall: The devaluation of the Egyptian pound made in 2016 scooters so expensive that this market collapsed. Unfortunately, no market was able to absorb this hole and so LML stumbled even more.

We first visited LML in 2014 and were able to see the production live in the Kanpur factory.

What we got to see impressed us very much and at the same time touched us, because to see a PX car body made out of a huge roll of sheet steel was an impression that gave us goose bumps. We were very impressed and it was simply unbelievable to be there live at the birth of a scooter.

LML has potential

At that time, we were convinced that “LML has potential! Although the haptic of some LML parts may not quite meet our expectations, they are of the highest quality. The LML gearboxes were installed in 30 HP motors in our workshop without any problems.

The complete LML motors are unbeatable in the price-performance ratio and the painted LML frame sets are a great starting point for a new construction. The rest of the original parts are also very popular with us. Unfortunately there is a lot of counterfeiting in India and inferior replica parts are simply sold in fake LML packaging. You should pay close attention to this and if you get a doubtful offer, you should keep your hands off.

LML has not only produced Piaggio models under license but also made many further developments to which the original must bow: LML motor housing XXl overflow valve. We discovered these motor housings by chance in the factory. Until today we couldn't really clarify where they were installed.

On the one hand they have HIGH OBJECTIONS (why weld and mill them?!) On the other hand the cylinder base was smaller than on the Piaggio engines. (we offer the housings already spindled to Piaggio size: LML engine housing XXl transfer tube)

Furthermore, the development of a 4-speed four-stroke engine in the LML PX dress must not remain unmentioned, because only in this way can the strict exhaust emission values ​​be met and the gear shifting has (has) a future.

As the crowning glory we were there when the production of LML PK was rebuilt. The idea was actually a good one. A small frame with automatic motor and disc brake. It would have had a future for sure, at least eg as 50s in Germany. Fatally it was only available as 125cc and there was no mass market. We had a fork (shortened Lusso fork) sent to us as a sample and saw great potential for V50, VBB and Rally / Sprint conversions, but unfortunately this never happened.

LML recently sought salvation in the production of a tricycle for the Indian market http://lml3wheelers.com/. Unfortunately, this project doesn't seem to have brought the necessary success and things look bleak at the moment.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for LML, that an investor will be found who recognizes the potential. It would be a pity if such a great company with enthusiastic employees would simply disappear.

DIRECT CURRENT / ALTERNATING CURRENT

The indicators fit all 6 or 12 Volt current sources, direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). They are also provided with an integrated control electronic unit which allows to select both voltage types. Even at low tension (eg at a low rev range) the indicators give off a constant signal.

E-MARK

The lenses are available in different colors and of course display the E-mark, which means that the indicators are homologated for use on public roads and need no further inspection by MOT.

The indicators fit all the models which are factory equipped with handlebar indicators. for many Vespas scooters with year of construction approximately before 1980 the replacement of indicators is not problematic since we also offer you the suitable conversion kits.

OUR TIP

The indicators are fitted with a series resistor for the correct functioning of the conventional (mechanical) flasher relay and in order to get a regular intermittence. If you have optimized or would like to optimize the electrical system of your Vespa and you use an electronic flasher relay, you can remove the series resistor (this is placed in the supply cable outside the indicator body). The indicator lenses also fit the genuine indicators, but the E-mark is only valid if you use Moto Nostra LED indicators.

The bgm PRO shock absorbers have factory pre-configured damping and stepless adjustable spring preload. Individually adjustable: the pre-load of this rear shock absorber is stepless adjustable.

The bmg PRO SPORT perfectly replaces the genuine shock absorber of all Wideframe models from 1955 onwards. For models until year of construction 1954 the springs and the shock absorbers are separated. A remedy here is the upper mounting bracket of the later models. the Vespa Wideframe mounting is available separately and therefore the bgm PRO shock absorber can also be mounted on scooters before 1955. The item includes two adapters (M8 and M9) which can be used accordingly on the respective models. Furthermore, the shock absorber is height-adjustable for a length of 385 – 420mm.

The Wideframe/ rod models (low headlight) Pinasco presented the Nordkapp cylinder with its new feature: the reed valve intake. Of course there is also an intake maniforld, this time not for a Polini CP carburettor, but for a Dell'Orto 22mm carburettor which Pinasco will offer with throttle lever.

Besides the genuine engine casing with three studs and the possible reed valve intake, as already showed at the Vespa world days in Rooms, Pinasco also presented the engine casing with four studs: thanks to this feature it is possible to mount all PX 177 tuning cylinders.

In addition, Pinasco also presented the Zamak rotor for the Flytech ignition which fits the rod models (faro basso) and GS150 engines.

Vespa GS160 / SS180

The GS160 / SS180 cylinder with direct intake looked like a dual carburettor cylinder with oval / long holes for 200cc models.

Vespa Smallframe

For the Vespa Smallframe models Pinasco also presented the new Pinasco engine casings and the crankshafts which are not yet available. On display also further crankshafts with replaceable balance weights.

Vespa Largeframe

Particularly interesting was the new crankshaft for double intake.

Pinasco now offers premounted 225cc engines. 60mm stroke, 225cc, 21,5PS at 26 NM. 10-13-17-20 / 35 gear cluster with 23/64 gear ratio. Flytech ingnition 1,4kg. The item does not include: carburettor, carburettor casing, clutch cover, flywheel cover and complete brake.

The Si28 carburetors are now in VRX-R version with a small foam filter.

Moto Nostra flyscreen with TÜV certificate for Vespa GTS

UPDATE GTS fly screen

Our Vespa sports flyscreen has successfully passed all necessary TÜV tests.

The current model requires a frame, but since we prefer a flyscreen without frame, we decided to modify once again the material of the flyscreen.

The flyscreen will be only 1mm thicker and therefore no frame will be necessary. Since the thinner flyscreen has passed the TÜV material tests, we are pretty sure that also the new version will pass the necessary tests.

Scooter Center presents its latest Moto Nostra fly screen which will also have a certification for use on public roads. The new fly screen fits the genuine braket for the cruiser flyscreen but has a lot more compact form than the Vespa sports flyscreen cruiser.

New bgm PRO Vespa brake hubs - from scooterists for scooterists

Thesis Vespa bgm PRO brake drums have been developed by Scooter Center. While working on a project for the Vespa Wideframe Alex noticed that the brake hub required some improvements.

This leads to the development of a new brake drum, Made in Germany, made of strong material and with a top braking power. At the same time, we also developed the new brake drum for the Vespa V50 with 9 and 10 inch tires. The performance of the new brake drums was successful, even in tough tests:

Please note: the brake drums are coated with an anti-corrosion oil. Before mounting the brake drum please remove any trace of oil (eg with a brake cleaner, see related items). Like all cast iron brake drums, these drums corrode if not protected and if exposed to moisture. In order to protect the outer surface of the brake drum you can use a heat-resistant exhaust paint.

Our Vespa GTS 300 demonstrator and catalog

The more than 25 years we have been working on the supply and development of spare parts for the vintage Vespa. However, we also look to the future and don't ignore the recent evolutions of the modern Vespa.

Scooter Center left nothing untouched on the Vespa GTS demonstrator. Some changes are extremely subtle. Stand-out features include the handcrafted dropbar, the modified front mudguard and the sports seat. Further fine features of this Vespa are the fork, shortened by 4 cm, the 13 '' wheels and the Brembo brake system.

Combining the caliper with the bgm PRO / SCR12 Competition shock absorbers, which are adjustable according to the needs of your riding style, and the wheel rim / tire combination Heidenau K61 (140 / 60-13 on a wheel rim 3.5 x 13), you will not only get a facelift of your Vespa but also an improvement of its safety features.

The high-quality Brembo racing brake technology is now available with German TÜV certification.
The brake kit mounted on our Vespa consists of a Brembo brake caliper with 4 pistons. The anodized black aluminum adapter was developed by Scooter Center and has a TÜV certification.

If you want to appreciate the high performance of a top quality brake system you do not need to test them on a racing vehicle. On default scooters Brembo brake calipers also guarantee superb performance: high and well-modulated braking power.
Piston diameter 2 x 30 mm + 2 x 34 mm, two-piece, cast, CNC machined. High-tensile aluminum adapter, CNC machined, anodised black, TÜV certification.

The stopping distance of a Vespa GTS with a Brembo brake calliper is up to 20% shorter compared to a Vespa with a standard caliper.

ONE OFF PARTS OF THE SCOOTER CENTER VESPA DEMONSTRATOR

Drop bar / M-handlebar: the handlebar was manufactured by Scooter Center. The inclination was modified on both right and left side, the handlebar cover was made using more parts, adapted and painted.

Horn covers: Scooter Center's own item handbuild by mixing parts of the Vespa GT and Primavera horn cover.

mudguard: the design was adapted and recalls the classic design of the Vespa T5.

Fork: the length of fork was shortened by 4 cm in order to provide the GTS a sporty style.

Extra flat air filter specially designed for Polini CP carburetors. Available in two sizes:

With a thickness of only 30mm, this filter is perfect for the Vespa Wideframe or tuned-up Lambretta.
The 55mm version is also a good option for that Vespa Smallframe.
The BGM filter has been specially developed for CP carburettors. The air filter rubber perfectly follows the shape of the carburetor and this prevents any risk of slippage.

The bell mouth perfectly fits the carburettor and therefore has a streamlined shape. Thanks to the compact shape and the high permeability of the filter material, this filter is the best option if you want to have a perfect air intake without having a power loss.

Polini CP carburetors

The Polini CP carburetors, characterized by their compact design, are very popular and widely used.

 

The CP carburettor can be used to replace the genuine carburettor of the Smallframe models or to get more power on Vespa and Lambretta engines: indeed, it is characterized by a compact design and offers therefore much better setup options than SHB carburetors.

bgm PRO / Marchald cooperation

We decided to cooperate with the Italian company Marchald, specialized in air filters, and to develop together what we consider the perfect air filter for the CP carburettors.

 

High quality and broad experience in air filter development

The high-quality rubber, which Marchald has used for years, can resist to steady mechanical stress and chemical exposure.

In order to ensure a perfect adherence and to prevent any risk of slippage, the rubber perfectly follows the shape of the carburettor.
Thanks to the two grooves in the rubber and the clamp (also included in the item) the air filter is stably fixed in its place.

Together with its bell mouth the rubber perfectly adapts to the special shape of the CP carburettor, a shape which increases the performance of the carburettor.

 

Air filters available in two sizes

Depending on the place available to mount the filter, we have designed this air filter in two versions.

The length reported in the item description refers to the length of the filter once it has been mounted on the carburettor.

The BGM air filters fit all Polini CP carburettors from Ø17,5 to Ø24mm and are available in two sizes: 30 mm and 55 mm.

 

 

For Vespa Smallframe: 55mm air filters

The 55mm version is a good option for that Smallframe models. Even though the shock absorber is fully deflected, there's still much space between the air filter and the chassis.

For Vespa Wideframe, Smallframe and Lambretta:

The 30mm version is particularly ideal for the Vespas Wideframe since they can be mounted even in small spaces.

With a length of only 30mm, this filter is short enough to prevent any crash or pressure against the carburetor flap.

 

 

If you use this filter on a Vespa Smallframe you'll have much more space around the carburettor.
