1. Vespa PX in white

Oliver, frame set Vespa LML PX drum brake in white

Part of the dispenser was a PX200 Lusso. All parts of the PX Lusso fit on and in. Only the assembly of the electronics under the left side panel is a mystery. I then had to get creative because the holes / holders on the LML are different from those on the PX. It would have been great to know what the LML looks like and how it can be solved. I made the cavity sealing with fluid film in the frame tunnel and with Permafilm on the underbody, wheel arches, fenders ... The workmanship and the paint quality of the LML is really ok. Has become a really nice scooter. There are no good pictures of the setup, had enough to do ...Oliver

Unboxing: LML Vespa frame set Scooter Center Cologne

Today I got the new frameset of the Scooter Centers made. ? The question I asked myself about this offer is:?:

Should I buy a frame set that has already been painted or do I restore my old frame and add-on parts?

I am currently facing this question because I want to rebuild an everyday scooter.? Such an offer is just in time to shed some light on this.? The following questions are of interest to me:

Finally then the bottom line and a factual assessment. So let's start:

What are my requirements for the set?

Well ... good question. Everyone has to know for themselves what their own requirements are. That Scooter Center says in the description: B-goods with small quirks. When I look at the scooters that drive around on our streets, that applies to 95% of the scooters. Nice scooters with little quirks here and there. I don't exclude my own. The word that is used lovingly for this is: PATINA .... !!!? So many scooter riders accept small blemishes when it comes to their Vespa. If that Scooter Center writes that these sets have small blemishes, so I have to give up the claim that a 100% perfectly painted scooter would come into my house. It's as simple as that. Anyone expecting this should clearly not order this set. They can then stop reading at this point.

So I have to realize that I'm going to open the box and have to make compromises. Am i ready for this? Yes or no?

Thus, the question of the claim can be easily clarified.

For those who are willing to compromise and do not claim that a perfectly painted scooter will come, that much will be said, will not be disappointed. But on the contrary. Even cool financial strategists and analysts will make a clear decision here ... for the set.

What do I get for my money?

Yes, what do I get delivered to my home? There comes a box the size of a coffin. It is delivered with the forwarding agency and not with DHL or UPS. The costs for this are a lot higher (49 €), but the shipping company will bring it to your garage or hallway. If I picked it up by car (600 km there and back) the fuel costs would be a lot higher. I know that the SCK sends the frame lying on the pallet. Unfortunately, the shipping company has a different view of "how do I deliver the shipment". I can't blame the SCK for that, because I know that they put a lot of effort into sending them. The set was shipped lying on the pallet, wrapped in foil. It arrived standing upright, without a pallet and without a foil. Afterwards, the SCK should give the shipping company an ass.

When the coffin is in your apartment, you don't know what to do with it. But the box is quickly opened and the parts removed.

This box contains everything you need for sheet metal or painted parts.

  • 1 complete frame
  • 2 jaws - left and right -
  • 1 front fender
  • 1 cascade
  • 1 lower part of the handlebar
  • 1 handlebar upper part
  • 1 glove compartment
  • 1 glove box lid (which is even already mounted)

The front koti has this usual hole for the brake line. Which is logical, since I had ordered a frame for the brake disc. If you lay the mirror line through the fork, you can close this hole with a rubber blind plug.

Is it worth buying?

The question of the questions is: is it worth buying? Let's just look at the question objectively, without emotions and with hard facts.

Let's just compare the prices for the parts contained in the set with the entire contents of the set. This gives us a first clue as to where the journey is headed.

Individual prices of the parts:

· 1 complete frame

2 jaws - left and right -

· 1 front fender

· 1 cascade

1 lower part of the handlebar

· 1 handlebar upper part

· 1 glove compartment

· 1 glove box lid

(which is even already assembled)

- If you can get it used, the cost is around € 200

- Piaggio approx. 465 €, LML approx. 118 €,

OEM approx. 140 €

Piaggio € 60, OEM € 39,

Piaggio € 15, OEM € 10

Piaggio € 169, LML € 90, OEM € 130

Piaggio € 30, LML € 15, OEM € 18

Piaggio € 199, LML € 80, OEM € 150

including the glove compartment.

Let's do the math together:

Piaggio set: 1138€

LML set bought in individual parts: 552€

OEM set: 687€

Since LML doesn't have all parts individually, I filled in with the other parts to get a set together. As you can see, the cheapest option costs € 552. The most expensive variant of Piaggio is to be set at 1138 €.

THE BASIS IS ALWAYS A USED FRAME THAT YOU HAVE TO GET FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR € 200. The condition of the frame is here completely outside.

Top frames will certainly not change hands for € 200. That much is certain.

If the year of manufacture of the used frame is before 1989, and there are still papers available, it will be damn tight at 200 €. I know that much for sure.

The starting question here was: Is it worth buying?

So when we let the sober numbers do the talking and look at the prices, we have to consider: EVERYTHING UNPAINTED !!!

Some will know, some not ... but anyone who has ever brought a scooter to the painter (not the backyard painter) will remember the delighted face of the painter and the comment: Dude, who should do the sanding. With all the curves and small parts. You're going crazy there.

The first comments will be like this or something like that. At least that's how I felt.

Then comes the question of the price. The specialist company is sparents under 1000 € Call for the paintwork. This includes: sanding, filling, sanding, priming, sanding, filler, varnish. In large German cities, such as Hamburg, will also be happy to € 2,000 for a paint job called in a specialist company.

We're not talking about WELDING WORK… ..we're just talking about painting.

Now you will say… .Yes, I know someone who does it for half of it. Sure, I know people like that too. But that's the backyard painters who paint in the garage after work and do friends a favor. The prices here are usually around 500-750 €. Then the frame can only be sanded and varnished. The painter, does not weld, does not pay and does not do any other additional work, unless he is paid for it.

To be honest, there are few (but there are) private painters who can do it in a top quality. I have seen a lot of newly painted scooters in the last few months, and I can tell you that the results were 90% expandable or underground. Anyone of you who has appropriate relationships with these good painters can consider yourself lucky. That's why my scooters are only painted in a specialist workshop. Here I know that I get top work, and I can and can complain if necessary. However, that also costs me the corresponding money. But then I always get top work delivered. A paint job in the company I trust costs me, depending on the paint, from 1000-1300 €.

So I'm in my case (cheapest option)

Framework € 552
Painting € 1.000
-------
Total: € 1.552

This price does not include: sandblasting, welding, bulging etc etc ... Most used scooters are just so finished that you have to invest a lot of time and love. Gladly also with hidden defects and rust nests. I bought a 1979 box myself and it looked like a pile of shit that I could only dispose of afterwards. Here are a few impressions of the wonderful restoration objects that I got my hands on:

To answer the question: IS IT WORTH IT TO BUY:

JA

Yes, it's even worth it in every sense. I get a new frame, new sheet metal parts. Nothing messed up or messed up. I get rust-free OEM quality. Yes, from India. So what !!! Does one of the readers here believe that the Vesps from Italy were once of a better quality? To be honest, it was certainly the same or very similar back then. For 1000 € I get a complete sheet metal set, with all painted attachments, which I can completely seal the cavity and provide with underbody protection. So then I know that I will have some peace and quiet for the next 15 years. The great thing is, I save myself a trip to the varnish. These costs alone are the purchase price of the frameset. Without any other preparatory work. This should make it clear to every cooling computer where the advantages lie.

How is the quality of the frameset

The quality is amazingly good. As already written above, the expectations and my requirements must be appropriate in order to classify the matter properly. Yes the quality is good. All sheet metal parts are well made. The handlebar cover fits 100%, the jaws are as they should be.

Yes, I have paint defects as announced in the description. BUT, I can get 60% of these errors under control with polish. Here and there are really small paint weaknesses, scratches, and shadows on the frame and on the parts.

But that was clear to me when I placed the order. It's cool that I will usually never see them again after assembly because they are under the cheek, under the center tunnel cover, under the leg shield border, under the cascade or on the lower part of the handlebars.

So anyone who is not more papal than the Pope will be happy. Because the B-goods, which it is also in parts, end up as optical A-goods when the scooter is mounted. Only a dent on the koti, on the side facing the leg shield, was certainly caused by the transport, a bit ugly. But this could be directed and made invisible again by the force of the fingers.

I was really excited about the condition of the set. My expectations were significantly lower because I had read the product description and expected something else. But the result is much better than expected. Now I'm sure only speaking for the frame in my box. However, it was unopened and not selectively sent for me. The SCK reached into the shelf here, packed, shipped and delivered. So I'm assuming that the other sets are just as good. In this thread you will find the unboxing photos separated because they would take up too much space here.

Will my claim be met?

Yes he will. Short and sweet. I can live with the little things. The choice of colors is completely sufficient for me. The silver is similar to that of Mercedes Benz and shines great. I have a completely painted scooter that I just have to assemble. The frame number can easily be turned over. The TÜV is happy to help.

All parts fit together without any problems, the used parts from the old scooter can be converted 1: 1. If necessary, you can also order new parts here. The big hit is that the SCK grants a 10-15% discount on this frame when using the voucher. Thus, the camouflage sports costs are already saved and the frame costs just under 900 €. If you don't like the colors, you can bring this roller over to the varnishers, who sand things wet with 1000 paper and paint them in the color of your choice, here you are sure, with a small course. My paint shop does this for well under € 500. As calculated above, even if this frame set were to be repainted, it would still be cheaper than restoring the old carrot and having to be prepared for nasty surprises.

I ordered another set right away. I don't know what I'll do with it, but for the money, it's safe and warm in my basement. Who knows if there will be this opportunity again. If so, all the better. If not, then I struck. I certainly don't need to explain to T5 fans how seldom you can get a good T5 frame. Some scooter friends have already stashed their supplies here.

CONCLUSION:

If you don't strike now, it's your own fault. If you have a rocked-down scooter and would like to have a fresh Vespe again, you should definitely buy it. Regardless of the motives, whoever is looking for a new setting is really well served here. Do not forget to clarify your claim with yourself, then you will surely find a fine basis here to put a new Vespe on the 10 inch.Kevin
