Vespa carburetor Smallframe Polini CP S

Vespa carburetor Smallframe Polini CPPolini Vespa carburetor Smallframe

Polini goes into the next round with the development of their CP carburettor. Every single part of these Polini Vespa carburettors is planned, developed and produced directly at the company headquarters in Bergamo:

100% Made in Italy.

The product range has now been expanded to include the new Vespa Polini CP carburetor.

2 sizes available

The Polini Vespa Polini CP carburetor is available in 19mm and 21mm. The carburetor fits on every 19 mm intake manifold and comes complete with a new throttle cable and air box (air filter). The Polini Vespa carburetor replaces the original Vespa carburetor of yours Smallframe.

Easy construction

The assembly should be very easy and possible without modifications to the original 19mm intake manifold.

The CP Polini have a plug connection and were specially developed for the legendary Vespa 125 Primavera ET3. Like the original carburetor of the Vespa 125, the Polini CP has a plug connection between the intake manifold and the carburetor. Delivery includes an airbox with a higher air flow rate. Available with 19mm and 21mm opening.

High quality

While the concentric layout of the extremely short intake section guarantees an ideal air flow, the mixture (regardless of the position of the throttle valve) can optimally flow into the mixing tube at any time. The inlet hole for the fuel supply and the larger float needle valve always supply the Polini Vespa carburettor with a sufficient amount of fuel, even under extreme conditions. In order to ensure that the standard is always the same, the exact float level and the functionality of the float needle are checked very carefully during production.

Easy adjustment of the carburetor

The high manufacturing quality and accuracy of these details then makes this noticeably easier Adjusting the carburetor. The flow properties as well as the selection of the main and auxiliary nozzles have been optimized in the direction of maximum power output with lower consumption. The compact dimensions of the new carburetor require optimal use of the limited interior space, as well as maximum efficiency of the built-in individual components, which are strictly controlled down to a thousandth.

The Polini carburettors have already been ordered and will soon be available in the Vespa scooter shop be available.

Cylinder kit 75cc Polini Racing modified for Vespa V50 1st series

Now available in the shop: Cylinder Vespa V50 first series 75cc Polini Racing

The early Vespa V50 models, colloquially known as the V50 first series, surprise their owners in some details compared to the widespread, later V50 models.

The early models include, for example, the chassis numbers V5A1 * 1001 * to * 92877 and V5SA1 * 1001 * to * 15325 *

Whether it is the front wheel suspension, the fastening of the rear brake anchor plate with M6 studs, the 3-speed gearbox, the 9 inch tires or the short wheelbase, the V50 models of the first generation are special in many details.
This is also the case when it comes to increasing the performance of the prime mover.

The first V1,2 engines put their drivers at the disposal of a little more than a horse, 50 HP in numbers. This is paired with a reasonably long translated primary of 3.72 and a miserable jump from gear 2 to gear 3 doesn't exactly make these engines into real sprinters.

So what could be more obvious than giving the engine a boost with a new, more powerful cylinder kit.

Here, however, the next surprise awaits. The early V50s have a smaller cylinder base bore in the engine housing - this probably dates from the time when the engine was used as a starter engine for Piaggio aircraft. As a result, the current cylinders do not match.

The motor would have to be completely dismantled in order to properly spindle the cylinder base bore.
In order to avoid this effort, we have machined cylinders appropriately. So you can install the cylinder directly.

Our choice fell on that Polini 75cc in the racing version. With a very nice speed range and an output of over 4HP, it is exactly the right candidate to pull the slightly too long gear of the V50. The wide speed range clearly helps to overcome the rather long jump from second to third gear.

The cylinder base is turned to fit ...

04.04.6 004

and the fastening point for the fan wheel cover and cooling hood shortened to match.

04.04.6 006

You will find one as an accessory in our cylinder kit Sheet metal nut M6, this serves the screwing point between Flywheel and Cooling hood and can simply be plugged onto the fan wheel cover for this purpose. This is necessary because the fastening points on the V50 are oriented 1 ° differently.

09.01.13 012

Polini specifies an ignition point of 17 ° for this cylinder. If you are still using contact ignition on the engine, you can use the test lamp to set the ignition point to 1,4mm before TDC.

1010003 Polini Racing 75

Depending on the exhaust and whether one Racing wave is built into your engine, you should have the Main jet adjust accordingly in the carburetor. In the installation instructions, Polini recommends a main jet of 16-66 for the SHB 68 carburetor. However, we cannot confirm this value in this way. Experience has shown that the carburettor should be equipped with a 74-84 jet.

When you are faced with the decision to open the engine and do the usual wear parts like Shift claw, Sealing kit and Shaft seals to replace, we definitely recommend using one Racing crankshaft ...

BGM2403

and a short 3rd gear think.

BGM01805

The racing crankshaft enables the engine to develop a higher torque and the short 3rd gear ensures a better connection when shifting from gear 2 to gear 3.

With such a powerful engine, you can enjoy the summer on your V50 even better.

With the appearance of the new Polini Evolution cylinder, the well-known Polini gray cast iron cylinder also received an upgrade and from now on has the addition "Racing" in the designation. A really massive cylinder head with an enlarged cooling surface, CNC machined combustion chamber and a copper gasket.

Due to the greatly increased material thickness and the use of a head gasket as in the Evolution cylinders, leaks on the cylinder head - provided that it is correctly installed - are a thing of the past from now on.

Fortunately, Polini offers the new one Racing cylinder head also available as a spare part that can be adapted to any “old” Polini. The ones required for assembly longer cylinder studs To attach the stronger cylinder head, a cylinder head gasket is included in the scope of delivery. We recommend this for screwing M7 nuts from Naraku.

Due to the increased cooling capacity, Polini has given the new racing cylinder head a little more compression.

We measured the difference for you with a burette.

Compared to its predecessor with 16,8ccm combustion chamber volume, the new cylinder head comes with a combustion chamber volume of 15,9ccm and thus increases the geometric compression from 8,7: 1 to 9,1: 1.

We simulated the volume of the cylinder head gasket by measuring it with grease.

The subtly increased compression, paired with the more modern shape of the combustion chamber, help the Polini gray cast iron to achieve more torque and power without the cylinder head being subjected to thermal overload. Of course, this only applies if the motor is set correctly. Of course, the new cylinder head does not iron out incorrect carburetor and ignition settings.

To be on the safe side, you should re-determine the pinch dimension after assembly and adjust the ignition timing depending on the engine setup. With increased compression it may be necessary to select the ignition point a little later (i.e. fewer degrees before TDC).

The new Polini cylinder head is also interesting for class 5 of the ESC, as it has been approved in class 2012a since 5.

Cylinder Polini 221 Alu Vespa PX200

Polini's plan to bring the well-known 210cc aluminum cylinder for the PX onto the market in a long-stroke version (we reported), is finally taking on concrete forms.

Cylinder Polini 221 Alu Vespa PX200The new cylinder, which is presumably the well-known 210ccm cylinder (but with a longer raceway) in terms of layout, is delivered with a special cylinder head suitable for the stroke of 60mm. Further details such as control angle, compression and a performance specification are unfortunately not yet known, but we will send them as soon as available.

The The cylinder head is also available separately, since, according to Polini, it also fits the kits made of aluminum and gray cast iron with normal stroke. One will see how this is solved and what the interesting side of the head looks like.

We have published here what the 'normal' version of the Polini with series stroke (57mm) can do:

Polini 210 Alu Plug & Play

Polini 210 with processing

A special, self-made long-stroke version has already been tested here:

Polini 230cc

We expect one from the new version even broader performance curve than with the 210ccm variant, as the control angle inevitably increases through the use of a 60mm long-stroke shaft. Hopefully Polini will counteract the disadvantage of an excessively high overcurrent angle by adapting it by extending the cylinder's path. This would certainly result in an engine concept that many would like for everyday use: A lot of pressure from the low rev range, a strong middle and sufficient revving power for the motorway. The whole thing without the thermal balancing act of the old cast iron cylinders.

Polini also offers a crankshaft with a 60mm stroke to match your cylinder:

Crankshaft Polini PX200 60mm stroke for aluminum cylinder 221ccmPolini speaks of a very well balanced shaft which, thanks to tungsten inserts, should run with very little vibration even at high speeds. A modified intake time should also release more power. Here, too, we will submit all further information as soon as we receive it or have checked it ourselves.

The cylinder can of course also be operated with any other PX200 crankshaft with a 60mm stroke. A high quality and The significantly more cost-effective alternative is here bgm PRO Long stroke shaft which already proven in countless very powerful engines hat:

Crankshaft PX200 Lagnhub 60mm BGM pro

With currently 179,99 € it is significantly cheaper despite the highest quality material (connecting rod + bearing!) and offers a sensibly extended inlet control angle perfect power package without the disadvantage of many other waves of spitting back into the gasr.

And finally ... Here, too, Polini is making clear its pioneering role in terms of product innovations for switch scooters. While competitor Malossi is currently limited to giving a new coat of paint to tried-and-tested but aging products simply by assigning new item numbers, Polini shows what you can do with tried-and-tested parts but a little more courage and innovative spirit.

In terms of price, the cylinder will certainly be slightly above the 210cc cylinder move because the long stroke kit is delivered with a cylinder head.

Cylinder and shaft together offer a high-capacity touring package that with a little attention to detail will certainly scratch the 20PS brand without having gear connection problems.
What more do you need?

Certainly one of the nicest innovations for PX200 drivers since the invention of the BGM Superstrong Cosa clutch...

As already announced, Polini brings the 210cc cylinder in a version for use with a crankshaft with 60mm stroke (standard 57mm). The already available cylinder for 57mm stroke can only be driven to a limited extent with a crankshaft with 60mm stroke because the piston has an upper so-called L-ring.
This type of ring includes or forms the upper piston closure, so it controls the channels and not the piston upper edge as usual. If you now use a crankshaft with a 60mm stroke, the 3mm extra stroke must of course go somewhere ...

Since the piston moves 1,5mm more up and 1,5mm more down, the cylinder must theoretically be lengthened by this 1,5mm. For practical reasons, for the sake of simplicity, a suitably strong base or head gasket is simply used.
The problem with the two-stroke engine is that it also has an enormous influence on the exhaust and overcurrent control angles, which are important for the performance characteristics. To make matters worse, in the stupidest case you do not change both to the same extent, but usually take advantage of the overcurrent angle. Both values (outlet and overflow angle) should always be in a ratio for the best possible power output.

In the case of the Polini, it looks like you are forced to use a foot seal. If you were to use a head gasket, the L-ring placed very high on the edge of the piston would simply rebound out of the raceway.
If a foot seal is used, the control angle is generally raised and, as already mentioned, the values are taken advantage of in favor of the overcurrent angle.

This can lead to the engine starting too late with its power output and also being stalled in the upper speed range by a pre-exhaust angle that is too small (the angle that the piston releases the exhaust in front of the overflow ducts). This means that it can turn down further, but the power curve drops very quickly after the power peak.

In order to preserve the characteristics of the Polini, it would be better to recommend the use of a head gasket to compensate for the multiple stroke. As mentioned above, this is not possible with the standard Polini piston, otherwise the piston ring would rebound.

Facts ...

If the Polini 210 comes with 57mm crankshaft used, it has a very touring-friendly 123 ° overflow angle and 171 ° outlet angle.

When using a crankshaft with a 60mm stroke and a 1,5mm thick base seal this changes to approx. 135 ° / 179 °.
In other words, the overcurrent angle increased by a full 12 ° CA, the outlet angle, however, only by 8 °.
Both the absolute increase in both values and, in particular, that of the overcurrent angle lead to a later increase in power. The whole thing can be done very well by using a tame, broadband touring exhaust system like one SitePlus, SIP Road be compensated.
The exhaust then still ensures good performance in the lower engine speed range, the greatly extended control angles allow the cylinder to rev up further in the upper engine speed range.

230cc ???
One of our customers (Thomas aka schoeni230) has exhausted the whole thing even further and a Polini 210cc aluminum cylinder with a special one 62,5mm long stroke crankshaft combined by Scooter & Service.
In order to avoid the problem of piston ring rebound mentioned above, the Polini was created here Piston against a counterpart of Grand Sport exchanged. This piston has only one piston ring and this is conventionally shaped and sits much deeper than the original L-ring in the Polini piston.

This made it possible to let the piston run out of the cylinder by the measure,
as the piston ring just gave:

As a result, the cylinder did not have to be lined very strongly at the cylinder base (approx. 0,4 mm) so that the control angle did not get too much out of balance despite a multiple stroke of a full 5,5 mm.
So the cylinder ran at ~ 133 ° / 179 ° and a special cylinder head that accommodates the piston in the head.
Due to the multiple stroke, the piston clearly undercuts the overflow channels at bottom dead center:
In connection with a modified Sito Plus exhaust (similar to the PEP3 exhaust), the engine impresses with its enormous torque in the lower rev range, an insane range and, measured by the exhaust type used, a very good top performance.

The carburetor was a 35mm Keihin PWK on a scooter & service Diaphragm intake manifold (myth V-Force membrane) used. One came as an ignition Vespatronic for use.

The cylinder has hardly been redesigned, only the outlet has been changed minimally in width and height.

And finally ...
Despite the very long steering angle, it is an enormously mobile and broadband motor that is sure to be the best for a touring rider. Full torque from the lower speed range and still still 20PS at well over 9000rpm.

Certainly not something that can be recreated, furthermore it is often problematic to let the piston extend that far out of the cylinder. Not only because of the then mandatory head centering to ensure that the piston does not hit the head, but also because of the increased thermal load on the zone above the piston ring.

The new Polini 210 for 60mm stroke will make the whole thing feasible for 'normal' screwdrivers, especially with a much cheaper 60mm stroke shaft. With it, many will certainly be able to build their 'dream' touring engine which combines a full torque with a wide speed range and a very good peak performance!

For those who find it takes too long for the 60mm Polini with 221cc to hit the market, this article encourages you to try out unusual combinations. Ie a Polini 210 for 57mm stroke with a 1,5mm base seal and 60mm crankshaft can also be expanded into a very nice touring concept.

In the sense of a well-known one (Harry B. from E.): try it, it works!

Polini presents the new aluminum cylinder for all Piaggio Vespa PX 200 and Rally 200!

The war of faith Malossi 2011 or Polini 207 or Pinasco 213 In the maximum displacement class, the Vespa scooter with 200ccm receives new arguments.

The torque-heavy design of the Polini207 with steam in all situations was loved by many. But as is always the case with love, there are also days when things don't go quite so smoothly in a partnership.
Incorrect carburetor jets, poor ignition setting or other set-up problems quickly led the old Polini cast cylinder to its thermal limits, and in the worst case even beyond.
This ensured the reputation of the eternal piston clamp, which could be counteracted with expert screws.
Now Polini is making life and screwing easier for all of us, and competition tougher for the competition.
The successful design of the Polini 207ccm is now made of high quality aluminum. With a 68.5mm bore and a great piston with two piston rings, for stable guidance and good heat dissipation, a thermally much more stable starting point for tours and race tuning is created.
Whether simply with the Vespa Sito + exhaust , or thick Membrane aspirator and Resonance exhaust system , We are curious what we will experience with the Polini for performance values.

Rain battle in Austria
"DART Racing Team" takes 12th place in the 8-hour race in Austria

In St. Veit an der Glan / Carinthia, the "Spring Race" took place for the second time on the ÖAMTC test track. Since the race this year was supposed to be four weeks later than last year, we had been looking forward to pleasant spring temperatures - a mistake, as it turned out to be.

With rain and temperatures around 8 degrees, everyone started in the morning 40 registered racing teams punctually at 7.00 a.m. The interplay between wet and dry stages lasted all day. Fortunately, we had good rain tires for racing (Sava "Monsun Racing Soft"), which made driving much safer even in the wet. The four tire changes between dry and rain tires have paid off, a higher number of laps has brought us so far forward!

Smaller failures such as the vibration of plugs and the Flywheel unfortunately took us valuable time. Nevertheless, we could as third best German team with our 22 PS Polini Cast iron engine with 33 Keihin and "Franz" exhaust an very gratifying 8th place drive in!

We would like to thank our sponsors very much

-Polini gear cover-

Gear cover from the POLINI Evolution series and therefore race approved.

The main advantage is definitely the bearing of all three gear shafts. This minimizes friction losses and more power lands on the asphalt. The gear shafts are guided by ball and needle bearings.

In the version for the Polini and Malossi MHR racing gearboxes, the secondary bearing is designed to be even more massive and therefore more durable.
The bushing has become superfluous here thanks to the newly designed gearbox.

Another nice feature from racing is the sealing with an O-ring. This means that you can work on the gearbox quickly and cleanly. The O-ring lies in a CNC milled groove and the conventional seals are no longer required. Just like the shaft sealing rings used, the O-ring is made of Viton and is therefore the optimal and permanent solution. The sealing lip of the shaft sealing rings is even coated with Teflon to reduce friction.

Evolution tuning part for the ultimate performance.
