Big VRA Cup Final 2019 in Jesolo

The Scooter Center / bgm sponsors the Vespa Racing Austia Cup. In sensational, late summer weather, the grand finale of the VRA Cup 2019, on the beautiful Pista Azzurra in Jesolo, on the northern Adriatic Sea. The track, which was built in 1962, has a decades-old racing tradition and has seen many championship and world championship decisions. Therefore, it was an extreme honor for us to be able to host our Cup Final 2019 on this traditional floor.

The last two races of this season were also on Excitement can hardly be surpassed.

Final after a long season

After a long season, Christian Rapf from the & is Racing Team had traveled 12 points behind the Italian Parmakit works driver Paolo Birtele to the Cup final in Jesolo - Italy and nobody expected that he would win the 2019 season crown for the young Italian in the Scooter GP class could still dispute. After a lightning start in the first run, Christian Rapf was able to keep the lead for a few laps, whereby the two drivers were in a league of their own. However, Birtele was able to take advantage of a tiny inattention on the part of the Upper Austrian, and thus in the end again scored 25 points for himself. At 15 p.m., the 00th and last race of the Scooter GP class was on the program. The points deficit had increased to 10 points due to the victory in the first run and the fastest qualifying time of Birtele, but the number 18 started the showdown on the Pista Azzurra with maximum motivation. After another great start, Christian Rapf did not give up the lead for 241 laps …… ..and then …… yes then he was rewarded with the luck of the capable, because Birtele could not finish the race with a technical defect. With a little luck, but thanks to extremely consistent performance, the 5 championship title went well-deserved to Christian Rapf from the & is Racing Team, for which the Vespa Racing Austria event team would like to congratulate them warmly.

After the title in the Marken Cup of our main sponsor PARMAKIT in 2018, which was still very close to Christoph STOFFI Maier in Upper Austria, the big cup final in 2019 finally happened and Kevin Höfler from the SFR team won the championship with a total of 6 race wins and 32 points ahead, decide for yourself. Christoph Maier from the Stoffi's Garage team and Maiko Jandl from the JLP team follow on the seats. With up to 20 starters from Austria, Italy and Hungary, the TROFEO PARMAKIT CHALLENGER 2019 was by far the strongest class in the VRA Cup and thanks to the extremely balanced engine performance, the most exciting duels took place here, regardless of whether it was about victory, the midfield or the end of the field goes. In this class, the focus is simply on driving skills!

Scooter GP Ltd. class

In the 2019 Scooter GP Ltd. Herbert Siegl secured his place on the top step of the podium, second place went to Günter Sedlacek, followed by Julian Köllner.

Street racer class

The championship of the street racer class again went to Christian Fleis, followed by Christoph Carniel and Hubert Leitgeb on the places.

Last but not least, apart from our main sponsor Parmakit, we would especially like to say a big thank you to the Beer, Fix it Easy and Michelin nursing home. We would also like to thank BGM, Egig Performance, AF Parts, KyTronic, Castrol and Faber! Despite the steadily growing field of starters, it would not be possible to run a racing series of this size without the support of our partners.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019 - Race 4 and season finale in Cheb

For many ESC drivers, it was no later than Friday, September 20.09.2019th, 4 towards the Czech Republic. Shortly after the Czech border, the fourth and final race of the 2019 season took place on the Kartarena in Cheb.

The field of over 40 drivers from Germany, Austria and even Greece was able to fight for the last possible championship points in 6 different classes in the best weather conditions.

  • K1:Smallframe (Scooter GP Limited)
  • K3: Largeframe (GT)
  • K4: Smallframe (Corse "Trofeo Parmakit Challenger")
  • K5:Smallframe (GT)
  • K6: All (Street Racer / Newcomer)
  • K7: All (Ladies)

After three races per class were held on Saturday as usual, the points of the season, some of which were hard-won on the racetrack, were added together in order to award the championship titles of the respective classes at the evening after race party.

The spectators of the total of 18 races were offered a real thriller consisting of starting maneuvers, leadership changes and hard but fair contested positions.

In the ESC, we are delighted that, despite the top-class commitment on the racetrack, the 2019 season was successful for all drivers and, above all, injury-free.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019

Newcomers are always welcome!

Also in the 2019 season, new drivers found their way into ESC.

At every ESC event, all enthusiastic beginners in class 6 have the opportunity to experience a real racing day. The excitement in qualifying, the thrill of rolling into the starting grid on the introductory lap ... Class 6 offers all of this for anyone who wants to get a taste of the track. The first participation in a race day is free for newcomers.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019

What is the European Scooter Challenge ESC?

The European Scooter Challenge is a circuit racing series with classic sheet metal scooters, mostly Vespas.

The first races took place in Austria and Germany in the 80s.

in the 2000s the scene had its absolute climax and on some days there were over 100 drivers from Germany, Austria, France and Italy at the start.

Different racing classes have been created so that there is something for everyone.

In particular, the one-size-fits-all, such as the K5, with low acquisition costs and low maintenance requirements, are particularly suitable for beginners.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019

Up to 4 races take place every year.

The Scootentole Challenge in Mirecourt (France), the LTH German GP in Liedolsheim and the Cheb Grand Prix in the Czech Republic are again firmly on the calendar in 2020.

A route and a date for a fourth race are currently being selected.

The routes are GoKart / Supermoto routes. Most with a length of 1.000 - 1.200 and a width of 7 - 8 meters.

Many routes offer sanitary facilities and camping facilities, which gives the whole thing a nice, familiar racetrack feeling, because many arrive two or three days before the race. There is enough time to test the vehicle, train and talk shop together in the evening.

Vespa and Lambretta fans at Classic Day 2019

Maryzabel has your impressions described here very nicely - I don't need to write much anymore and prefer to let the pictures speak for themselves. The weather was great, the exhibitors were great and so were our customers, visitors and friends! All in all a super great day:

Here is our video:

Maryzabel Classic Day Vespa Lambretta

Hello, my name is Maryzabel!

I am a trainee at Scooter Center. I come from Colombia and take you on my big and small adventures in the blog, take a look behind the scenes with you Scooter Center and take you to scooter meetings.

6. The big day has come!

Thanks to the restaurateurs, manufacturers, event organizers, partners, clubs and many participants who attended the Scooter Center Classic Day 2019 were present, I was lucky enough to learn more about highlights and rarities:

  • Getting to know the Twin Vespa with the two PX Malossi 244 engines and Christian personally, which is just as much fun as Christian's reason for building it: “too much space on the left and too little power on the right”
Xtreme Vespa Tuning Twin Vespa PX 58HP Scooter Center Motorino Diavolo

  • The level of specialization that can be achieved with the classic beauties of the
Hoffmann racing relay & factory hall the, the tubular handlebar model (Wideframe: Lampeunten, Faro Basso, ..) the Vespas of Piaggio and licensed buildings ACMA, Douglas, but especially those Hoffman Vespa, which were made in Germany by Hoffmann in the years 49 to 57, received in perfect condition and, above all, also drive !!
  • Testing from Raging Rhino, a magical support that keeps the scooter in place during transport - literally one of many “Crazy” solutions in a positive sense from Wolfgang /Crazy Monkey Development,
  • Scootering goes green: The renouncement of plastic (for packaging ;-)) and Franz's idea that every participant of the Alp Days will plant a tree in Zell am See.

What amazes me again and again and what you can see in the interviews that I did to you - If you manage to understand my “German” ... I have to say that the events in Germany were a great challenge for me and are. Because integrating myself into a group of native speakers, understanding technical details and humor, and that with my shyness, which makes me forget my knowledge of German, was clearly a major barrier.

But on Classic Day I somehow felt in “my flow”, I don't know if it's because I already speak a little more German (just a little more) or because it was a room in which I could be whoever was again I am: surrounded by scooters, engine noise, 2t smell, offers of super tempting spare parts, music and friends? Look for yourself:

Everyone is preparing for the Scooter Center Classic Day 2019 before. A meeting that, by the way, will be very exciting for me, not only because I'm the first from our club, the den Scooter Center Attended OpenDay, but because it will be the only event of its kind that I have ever attended.

Usually the events that I have attended and even organized have the Vespa community as a common denominator. But on that next open day on Saturday August 31st, everything revolves around the scooter!

Of course, the scene cannot be missing:

  • the music,
  • das Essen
  • and the friends

I am especially looking forward to friends I will meet again and new scooterists I would like to meet.

We will have international visits from Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg and England. But it will also be the scooters that will grab my attention. I'm looking forward to the performance that's on  Scooter Center Test bench is shown.

It's crazy what awaits me: scooter parts special sales, returns, B-goods. The used ones Smallframe Vespas from Japan in great condition. Lots of new products to touch and special offers. In addition, there are stands from manufacturers, organizers and partners and the private parts market for scooters and scooter parts, many of our customers and friends have cleaned out their garages and cellars and are selling at Scooter Center ClassicDay their best parts. The Vespa and Lambretta used market will be the perfect place to look for treasure!

I'm really excited because I have to get a new Vespa as a partner for my adventures. I will keep you up to date here, because this is just the beginning!

The Scooter Center Team was there again. At this great event you will meet that Scooter Center at the booth and on the track - it’s clear that we’ll be there again in 2020 - oh spoilers… 2020? Let's wait and see:

The "Alp Days" took place in 2019 on tenth times in the "secret Vespa capital of Austria: Zell am See. With 7 days of trips through wonderful landscapes and places, evening programs with live music, awards and honors, it was also the longest Vespa meeting ever! There was a pajama ride out to Lake Zell, the organizers invited over 1500 Vespisti to a chocolate bed cup and in the Alp Days bed as a photo point. The result was fantastic, funny pictures that the participants from 23 nations were able to take with them.

Each day offered a variety of program items and the participants were enthusiastic.

All of Zell am See and Pinzgau succumbed to the Italian flair of the cult scooters again this year.

DRIVE THE DAM

The absolute highlights this year were THE LEGEND! - DRIVE THE DAM! Spectacular driveway to the Tauernmoossee and the longest winding dam in Europe, with a small health snack in the national park core zone and the large common driveway to the Großglockner with a goulash canon on the Fuscher Törl.

Over 1500 participants from 23 nations took part. From 50 cc to 300 cc, from old tubular handlebars to switch scooters and automatic scooters, everything was represented. The whole Grossglockner High Alpine Road was filled with Vespas like a colorful field of flowers!

This year took place for the first time Plush rabbit hunt through the Pinzgau and Tyrol instead of. All Vespa drivers who had answered their stamp cards with the questions could look forward to a cute plush bunny and a reception with live music at the finish in Fieberbrunn.

Fringe events

The supporting program this time was more colorful than ever:

  • A movie was shown by Wolfgang Pröhl and his colleagues, who had a special adventure in 2018: ELEPHANT to INDIA - the story of a long Vespa journey into the heart of Asia.
  • Markus Andreas Mayer circumnavigated the world on a Vespa in 2018 days in 80 and he gave this lecture about the fantastic journey in Zell am See.
  • There was a Concourse d'Elegance where the jury chose the most beautiful Vespas.
  • In the middle of the city of Zell am See at the Congress Center Platz, the Vespa stunt & acrobatic driver Nicola Campobasso presented his spectacular show.
  • Performance artists on stilts in mirror costumes (dragon and hare) offered themselves for photo shoots with the Vespas.
  • The artist Renate Berghaus from Germany showed her colorful Vespa pictures in the shop windows of the pedestrian zone in Zell.

Alp Days charity campaign

In all the years of the ALP DAYS in Zell am See, we have always tried TOGETHER to take into account the idea of “WE HELP”, and through various campaigns we were able to make a - sometimes smaller, sometimes larger - amount available every year for an important purpose to be provided and handed over.

This year, as part of the DER ALP DAYS 2019 charity campaign:

  • 2.000 euros (in cash) for an 8-year-old child with cancer in Zell am See. Handed over to Mrs. Doris strengz as representative of the parish Zell am See
  • 1.000 euros (in cash) for the VESPA FOR LIVE campaign to Marc Dedulle and Michael Boschloos 1.000 euros (by PayPal payment) for the VESPISTI AGAINST CANCER campaign to Gernot Pajman

During the event, donated collectibles were sold to the Vespistis (that's what the Vespa drivers call themselves) and the family was able to receive a substantial amount through additional donations.

Vespa Alpdays 2020 !!

The crowning glory of the event this year was the corso around Lake Zell with a stop in Thumersbach for a chocolate snack and the scooter blessing by Pastor Dr. Friedemann Steck of the Erlöserkirche from Munich-Schwabing (organizer of the famous Vespa Corso every year on Ascension Day on Leopoldstrasse in Munich under the name of the true Ascension).

This year, Franz Schmalzl did not make it easy for himself to decide whether the event would continue. The decision was really only made in the last 30 seconds in Thumersbach. The tension rose and the participants were visibly moved when the good news was announced:

The 11th ALP DAYS will take place from June 2nd to 9th, 2020.

VESPA RACING AUSTRIA

Vespa Racing Austria CUP 2019 Rechnitz

Anything but spring-like weather accompanied the Vespa Racing Austria racing series into the 2019 season. Fortunately, there were a few raindrops and a few snowflakes in the morning. The participants of the VRA Cup started the new season in frosty but dry weather.

The grip level was extremely low in free practice, although the conditions improved a lot during the qualifying runs in the course of the morning. Despite the not very inviting conditions, the grid in all four classes was better filled than ever before.

The appearance of the Italian was spectacular PARMAKITE Works driver Paolo Birtele, who won both races in the Scooter GP class. in the TROFEO PARMAKIT CHALLENGER, the Brands Cup of our main sponsor, the fight for victory, as in the previous year, was between Kevin Höfler and Stoffi Maier, whereby the cup winner of the 2018 season had to give way to the younger challenger in both races.

Maiko Jandl completed the podium. In the first ever Scooter GP Ltd. Herbert Siegl won the weekend ranking ahead of Manuele Fulgeri from Italy and Andreas Hergouth. The street racer class again went to Ric Fleiss, followed by Christoph Carniel and Georg Niemetz.
