If you've been driving a scooter for a while, you may still know the scooter shop!

Scooter youth icons

The scooter shop was the scooter shop for us young scooter drivers in the 80s and early 90s. Whether Scooterboy, Popper or Mod: With its catalogs, the scooter shop pulled our pocket money and our first salary out of our pockets. But some of us knew how to defend ourselves: Philipp, for example, always ordered the PK disc brake for 540 DM with every order, so he was always above the postage exemption limit and he was sure of free delivery, but the disc brake was never available until the end .

For many, the catalog was like a Bible. A bright red shone on the cover of the 1989 catalog Smallframe Vespa with water cooling with Zirri engine. The connoisseur may have recognized straight away that the model is a Primavera, but did you know which parts were built in in detail? What performance did they have or what the Vespa looks like from the front?

And did you know that there was a cover Vespa in black as early as 1987? In general, have you ever wondered what of these forgotten ones Dream scooters of our youth has become? The scooter shop as a company did not manage to survive, we took over customer support in 2007 and bought the domain. Vehicles and stocks were spread over the whole republic. Did the cover rollers survive?

Christian and Ronny from the Scoot Devils Seevetal have not forgotten, have found the legendary scooters and carefully restored them!

In the Scooter Center The two scooters could be admired for the first time on OpenDay. So of course I used the opportunity and Christian and Ronny got the unbelieveable story let tell. Check out the video now! You can find out below Details about the vehicles and receive more Insights and detailed pictures.

Many thanks to Christian, who was not only available to us for the video, but also sent this information about the two scooters afterwards:

What are the next steps?

Do the “partners who had to endure madness” know that there is already a new project? Again the guys go to work for a while Smallframe to revive the German scooter scene:

Scauri tuning

Preview: This is the former vehicle of our friend Mathias Scherer, who beat the red Vespa with a water-cooled Scauri engine on international racetracks and even then scratched the 30 HP mark. Scauri Racing, have you heard this before? Stefano Scauri co-founded BSG Corse, BSG is now BFA and Stefano Scauri now develops cylinders for Parmakit. Day 42 - Markus André Mayer to visit the Scooter Center

Km: 4.865
Countries: 5
Donation amount on the tour approx.: € 45.000

Last Friday Markus stopped by us on his Gentleman Giro. As you have probably already noticed, Markus drives through Europe in a suit with an original 50 cc Vespa and collects donations for the children's cancer foundation in the respective country.
We are happy to be able to support Markus in his mission and are still deeply impressed with how much strength, vigor and selflessness Markus approaches the matter. What actually sounds like a lot of fun is a 25 hour job eight days a week.
In a few weeks, an official interim status of the donations will be announced in Bonn.

We are very excited. But back to the visit to the Gentleman Giro Scooter Center. After lunch together, Alex took a quick and scrutinizing look at the Eleonor (Markus Roller). It didn't pull that well anymore and so the maximum speed we didn't reach slowed us down badly on the trip to lunch. Since Markus is dependent on the purchase of 2-stroke oil due to his luggage, there is always not so good substance as an admixture in the soda. That clogged the inner pipe of the exhaust. After a single burn, Fuffi was able to provide Markus with the full range of services possible. See diagram.
After that, Markus was allowed to sit on the couch to answer questions about how to come up with such travel preparations and plans. You can find the recording of the therapy session with Maryzabel here.

After that it was called Bon Voyage again, Markus!

So, we burned out the inner exhaust pipe so that the number comes off correctly again.

Day 43 on the road - Düren

Seeing Markus again is always a pleasure and sharing a bit of his madness is wonderful, so I signed up the next day to accompany him to his next Vespa meeting.
I think with Platónika I got used to going a little faster than in Colombia, but it was good to regain the calm of the track by following this beautiful V50.
When we arrived at the meeting point, there were almost three times as many Vespas as expected, and after hugs and introductions, everyone drove together to a beautiful beer garden in Düren. An event full of warm people and brotherhood, where I met wonderful people whom I hope to see again soon.
As a result, I fully understood the good nature of Markus Große Reise, where, although he is the one who takes the action, it is the cooperation of everyone that makes the goal come true.
Thanks Markus for strengthening our community.

Cylinder kit 75cc Polini Racing modified for Vespa V50 1st series

Now available in the shop: Cylinder Vespa V50 first series 75cc Polini Racing

The early Vespa V50 models, colloquially known as the V50 first series, surprise their owners in some details compared to the widespread, later V50 models.

The early models include, for example, the chassis numbers V5A1 * 1001 * to * 92877 and V5SA1 * 1001 * to * 15325 *

Whether it is the front wheel suspension, the fastening of the rear brake anchor plate with M6 studs, the 3-speed gearbox, the 9 inch tires or the short wheelbase, the V50 models of the first generation are special in many details.
This is also the case when it comes to increasing the performance of the prime mover.

The first V1,2 engines put their drivers at the disposal of a little more than a horse, 50 HP in numbers. This is paired with a reasonably long translated primary of 3.72 and a miserable jump from gear 2 to gear 3 doesn't exactly make these engines into real sprinters.

So what could be more obvious than giving the engine a boost with a new, more powerful cylinder kit.

Here, however, the next surprise awaits. The early V50s have a smaller cylinder base bore in the engine housing - this probably dates from the time when the engine was used as a starter engine for Piaggio aircraft. As a result, the current cylinders do not match.

The motor would have to be completely dismantled in order to properly spindle the cylinder base bore.
In order to avoid this effort, we have machined cylinders appropriately. So you can install the cylinder directly.

Our choice fell on that Polini 75cc in the racing version. With a very nice speed range and an output of over 4HP, it is exactly the right candidate to pull the slightly too long gear of the V50. The wide speed range clearly helps to overcome the rather long jump from second to third gear.

The cylinder base is turned to fit ...

04.04.6 004

and the fastening point for the fan wheel cover and cooling hood shortened to match.

04.04.6 006

You will find one as an accessory in our cylinder kit Sheet metal nut M6, this serves the screwing point between Flywheel and Cooling hood and can simply be plugged onto the fan wheel cover for this purpose. This is necessary because the fastening points on the V50 are oriented 1 ° differently.

09.01.13 012

Polini specifies an ignition point of 17 ° for this cylinder. If you are still using contact ignition on the engine, you can use the test lamp to set the ignition point to 1,4mm before TDC.

1010003 Polini Racing 75

Depending on the exhaust and whether one Racing wave is built into your engine, you should have the Main jet adjust accordingly in the carburetor. In the installation instructions, Polini recommends a main jet of 16-66 for the SHB 68 carburetor. However, we cannot confirm this value in this way. Experience has shown that the carburettor should be equipped with a 74-84 jet.

When you are faced with the decision to open the engine and do the usual wear parts like Shift claw, Sealing kit and Shaft seals to replace, we definitely recommend using one Racing crankshaft ...

BGM2403

and a short 3rd gear think.

BGM01805

The racing crankshaft enables the engine to develop a higher torque and the short 3rd gear ensures a better connection when shifting from gear 2 to gear 3.

With such a powerful engine, you can enjoy the summer on your V50 even better.

Vespa Smallframe UpgradeThe V50 and PK 50 S Vespas in particular have enjoyed incredible popularity for years.

The ignition components are, however, poorly available. In addition, the contact ignition is prone to failure and maintenance. Kicking ten times in the city center until the engine is running is also pretty uncool.

We offer you the ultimate solution the problem:
A complete and well thought-out kit with which you can easily access a maintenance-free Ignition with strong 12 V You can convert the alternator. The components are consistently the best you can imagine:

• Original Ducati fan wheel with specially made CNC cone for the crankshaft of the V 50-90, PV, ET3, PK S Vespas
• bgm high-performance ignition base plate with specially switched coils from the Vespa Cosa
• bgm pickup for perfect starting behavior and a clean ignition pulse
• BGM CDI unit
• BGM voltage regulator with extensive installation instructions
