Scooter Dragster Race Scooter STS Nürburgring

Am Saturday June 14th has the SCOOTER CENTER the organization of Scootersprints taken at the Nürburgring. The 100m short track sprint takes place as part of the Fans and Family Festival for the Superbike World Championship at the Nürburgring.

STS Dragster Race scooter

The interesting thing is that attendance and participation are free. The event starts with the packing of the van on Friday afternoon, which is always a sweaty affair. A lot of concentration is required here - nothing should be forgotten and the highly sensitive measuring technology of the traffic light system must be securely packaged.

Saturday morning. The alarm goes off 5:00.
Quickly 2 coffees, take the scooter to the meeting point and take the SCOOTER CENTER Team off to the Nürburgring. First on the A61 then on the A1. It rains while driving. Great, it can be cheerful, I think to myself, sprinting in the rain ...

Um 7:00 am at the Nürbrurgring When we arrived it wasn't raining anymore - but it seemed to have rained heavily overnight, as we were surprised by two huge puddles in the middle of the track. Sprinting impossible. So get on the brooms and shake water with everyone for an hour. The effort was worth it, now everyone is really awake and with the help of the rising sun, the track is quickly dry (and clean). So perfect conditions for a great sprint day.

The construction of the system, 500 meters of cable, several computers, monitors, start lights, displays, barriers, banners and flags is routine and professional. The whole team lends a hand, everyone knows what to do.

At 10:30 the first drivers arrive. After a short start-up time, the sprint system runs perfectly. It's really fun to send pair after pair out on the track.

In between it rains briefly from time to time. There are about 100 drivers and spectators SCOOTER CENTER STS scooter at the Nürburgring. A lot of fun, no waiting times, no pushing, but great track conditions.

We have trophies for the best 3 in each group. The winners shine.

Um 17:00 we dismantle. The dismantling goes smoothly and thanks to the nice help of some participants we are already sitting around 18:45 in the car. Just in time for the descent, heavy rain showers poured over the Nürburgring. Lucky for us that we got all the equipment dry in the van, otherwise there would have been a night shift.

20:30 p.m. back home. Another exhausting day, but I'm already looking forward to next weekend.

See you in Meinerzhagen!

Last weekend the third run of the IDSM took place in Zielona Gora. During the first practice session on Saturday, the drivers were able to familiarize themselves with the track. A very fast circuit for a kart track. The condition of the track was very good, so that our driver Thomas could give everything.

In order not to keep you waiting any longer, we have already prepared the results on this preliminary website:

NRW Sprint 2008 results

The SCOOTER CENTER Team was at the RTP - Autbahnrace in Aldenhoven.

With great weather and lots of nice people and interesting conversations, there was no heck of a sprint.

The first DSSC run in Saarbrücken went very well for us, we immediately set the fastest time with Lorraine. The 2nd DSSC run of the season took place on our doorstep in Aldenhoven.

With a total time of 6,809 seconds and a reaction time of 0,059 seconds, we drove a great time for an uncharged full body sprint. Our top speed this weekend was 130,00 KM / H! Only a charged scooter with NOS was slightly faster.

We were able to maintain our first place in the overall ranking of the premier class with 18 points.

We look forward to exciting fights with the other drivers at the next events.

With our new test bench, we were able to supply over 150 scooters with around 450 runs. The power output ranged from 1,9 PS (!, friezed back original scooter?) To just under 29 PS (Maxi). The most powerful 80 cc was a 2Fast with almost 24 hp. The test stand crew had a lot of fun with you and thanks the organizer Scooter de Luxe for the good cooperation.

Scooter races on the Nürburgring - Historic scooters on the Grand Prix track!

That was on May 3rd and 4th, 2008 Scooter Center team once again at the racing highlight of the year for historic scooters - the 18th Cologne course of the MSC-Porz.

This traditionally takes place at the beginning of May on the Grand Prix track of the Nürburgring. After the technical inspection and driver briefing on Saturday
Team 667 from Düsseldorf showed a video in their box that was recorded in 2006. Really a great film - thrilling and funny, a little history and a lot of racing flair.
Interested parties can order the film here: http://team667.sideclick.de/main.html

Sunday morning we went to the racetrack for the first training session - the fastest drivers quickly emerged and the Scooter-Center team was able to put 3 drivers on the front row.

At 14.30 p.m. the call for the scooter class came!
Christian Schneider (Scooter Center) and our 2 English drivers (Team Scooter Center / per porting),
Harry Barlow and Andy Beadnell stood side by side in front of the rest of the field of 55 scooter riders.

After a rapid start, the material-devastating battle on the Grand Prix track began - in every speed class every place was lost
fought. After 10 rounds the winner was certain: Our tuning legend Harry Barlow from the team Scooter Center / Pro Porting won ahead of Jonas Junge
from Kürten and Andy Beadnell.

A fantastic racing weekend with unbelievably good weather, many old acquaintances and new friends - a complete success for us!
Definitely again next year!

Your Scooter Center Team

The “Test and Tune” weekend took place on the “Jerry Lacky Raceway” from April 25th to 27th.
A good opportunity to show what Marita, our white SCK dragster, can do on the 1/4 mile alongside top European drag drivers.
Unfortunately, the rain delayed the start of the test session on Friday. The track had to be re-glued so that the Top Fuel Dragsters could also bring their 5000PS onto the asphalt. For the first time this year “Gold Dust” was used, very similar to the track glue that is also used by the FIA in all dragster races. The track sticks in such a way that you really have trouble keeping your shoes on if you come too close to the track.
On Saturday morning at 10 a.m. the time had come and the track was opened. After a few tests and adjustment runs, our Marita employee and driver, Hagen Claasen, was finally able to hunt for seconds on the 1/4 mile (402,99m) long route.
We were curious what time would appear on the ad first, as Marita could only start without NOS.
14,543sec at 139km / h, but there had to be something in it!
And really, 13,631sec and 148,739 / h was our best time at the end of the first session.
With the determination to get a better time, we started again on Sunday morning. As if on the announcement, Hagen then promptly drove a 13,573sec at 150,704km / h.

At this point we would like to thank Wilfried Daffner and Gerd Habermann very much.
Thanks to them it was possible for us to get a real insight into the dragster scene and to have some experiences. We were particularly pleased with the positive response and sincere recognition from all participants. Maybe the scooter scene will be noticed a little more and find a place in the dragster sport….

Scooter race on the Nürburgring Cologne circuit 2006

Finally again scooter races on the Nürburgring

We've been hooked since 2004. It is a highlight of the year every year and in 2006 we were again with our classic Vespa & Lambretta scooters at the Nürburgring to take part in the Cologne circuit.

With the routine, the excitement disappears and you become a little more relaxed, which is also noticeable to the full at the evening events Scooter Center Team box. Somebody had Vodka - effervescent included. I wonder how the British drivers managed to be so fit in the morning ... it was another great event!

Scooter race at the Nürburgring Cologne course 2005

5th Cologne course - May 1st, 2005

The Motorsport Club Porz celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and we were able to celebrate with our classic scooters - with a scooter race on the Nürburgring. All participants were enthusiastic, we too! So it goes without saying that we will be doing this again this year Scooter Center Team were at the start again.

It is a great feeling to be standing at the start with your scooter and driving where Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher and Senna have already been on the track. And we don't need to tell you anything about the atmosphere and atmosphere with many international scooter riders and friends in the evening. Scooterists stop :-)!

Scooter race on the Nürburgring 2004

Finally again scooter races on the Nürburgring

At the end of 2003 the idea came up in the year 2004 one more time Scooter races on the Nürburgring to be able to drive. There were a few rules and a lot of fun:

  1. Vehicles only up to year of construction 1978 (all Vespa before PX, Servetta + ind. Up to 78, NSU, HEINKEL etc)
  2. Original optics = full frame and the body parts belonging to the model. So not cut, skeleton or similar and also no racer paintwork (unless they are contemporary like af-rayspeed or supertune)
  3. good, well-kept condition. so no matt black craft boxes ...
  4. Safety-relevant parts such as brakes and tires must of course function very well.
  5. some changes to the scooter to prevent parts of the vehicle from loosening during the race (e.g. secured oil drain plugs etc, but more on that later)
  6. Motor and brakes are completely free, ie. everything that works - except third-party motors (automatic, motorcycle, etc.) and other tire sizes or telescopic forks from automatic etc.
  7. Volume limit to 100 phon - so it gets really loud ...
  8. is driven no race but a so-called regularity run. ie., the one who completes his laps with the same lap time as possible, becomes the winner. in the event of a tie, it is based on the age of the vehicle; if there is still a tie, it is based on the age of the driver. But don't worry, you can drive evenly fast
  9.  we will definitely have our fun.
  10. the driver needs a leather suit, with a two-piece suit jacket and pants must be connected with a zipper. In addition, a back protector (highly recommended, I know from my own experience), high boots and a full-face helmet without major flaws and scratches, etc.
  11. the entry costs approx. 100 euros in advance, we do not need a license for the time being. In addition, probably a medical certificate and photo of the vehicle with all technical data (vehicle passport) in advance.
  12. at least 15-20 solid starters

Ok: said, done that Scooter Center was of course at the start:
