WHY AN LED HEADLIGHT ON THE VESPA? 

For most scooters, the limit with conventional Bilux light bulbs is a headlight bulb with 45/45 W. The ignitions, which are usually 80 W to a maximum of 120 W, do not provide any more. The luminosity is measured in lumens below 400. The LED headlight has a luminosity that is three times as high (1300 lumens). The power consumption is only 20 W. This corresponds to the light output of a conventional 100 watt spotlight. With a given alternator / power supply, a considerably better illumination can be achieved. In addition, there is more capacity for other consumers.

The bgm PRO SC Competition shock absorber is a further development of the successful BGM PRO F16 Sport series. Visually, the Competition series differs through the external expansion tank. This allows a larger compensation volume compared to the sports damper better responsiveness. At the same time the effective adjustment range of the damping has been increased.

AREA OF APPLICATION Sport & Comfort

Compared to the sport damper, the competition damper has a different basic set-up. This makes it very suitable for use with stiff sport springs such as the new bgm PRO spring.

The setting of rebound and compression levels also counteract the concept-typical brake nod, but also effectively counteract the rapid rebound on short bumps. This means that the competition damper offers a lot of reserves even in powerful vehicles. The wide range of chassis tuning naturally also enables use with a standard spring, which means that comfortable driving is still possible with a soft damper adjustment.

 

INSTALLATION & OPTICS

Thanks to the optimized installation dimension of 165mm, the damper also fits all 8-inch models without any problems, without preloading the spring or changing the angle of the swing arm. Moto Nostra has revised its line of popular Moto Nostra case bags and expanded them to include more practical bags.
From now on, all bags and cases have a waxed surface.
The products available in the three basic colors beige, brown or black are now available as:

Who does not know that? To stow a lot of small items but no space in the overhead compartment because the helmet should be in there or tools and the oil supply have already made themselves wide.

Vespa Cosa clutch upgrade

SOLID BASE BRACKET

The linings use an aluminum carrier, the lugs of which have a large contact surface for the clutch basket. This makes the coverings very stable over the long term. The slow shearing of the tabs, which often occurs with conventional decks with steel girders, is completely eliminated due to the large contact surface. The aluminum also makes the coupling more thermally resilient. This is a great advantage in extreme situations (e.g. starting with a heavy load on a steep mountain pass), but also offers a reassuring reserve in everyday life. Why should I convert a Vespa to electronic ignition?

We have our own brand bgm, tried and tested a thousand times bgm PRO ignition base plate revised and even better did. Particular attention was paid to the very high quality of the bobbins and the pickup.
In addition, the cabling was converted to textile-sheathed silicone lines. A special gimmick is the cord already attached to the cable branch for easy pulling of the cable harness through the cable duct in the motor housing. The base plate now also has a degree of precise scaling for easier setting.

Compared to a conventional electronic ignition, the BGM Pro HP V2.5 ignition base plate has specially combined coil windings.

In contrast to a Vespa PX ignition base plate, the BGM Pro HP has one longer and differently laid cable branch so that the ignition base plate can also be perfectly mounted on older vehicles. CONVERSION TO ELECTRONIC IGNITION

When converting from a contact ignition to this base plate, another fan wheel, a voltage regulator and a CDI must be used.
A possibly standard old voltage regulator, like the series ignition coil, is no longer required.
With the BGM voltage regulator BGM6690, a battery (12 volt battery required) can optionally be charged while driving. The old wiring harness can still be used, but the previously individual circuits must be combined here, as the voltage regulator only offers one outlet to the complete power supply. It is easier to convert to one of our conversion wiring harnesses (e.g. 9077011).

PLEASE NOTE
The alignment of the crankshaft in the engine housing, and thus also the position of the pole wheel, is the same as the old one Largeframe Engines (recognizable by the same-sized crankshaft bearings with 25x62x12mm) are significantly more variable than, for example, the later PX engines.

The crankshaft bearings are not fixed in the engine housing by a circlip, but simply sit with a slight interference fit in the housing. Various tolerances (e.g. the width of the shaft sealing rings, worn bearing seats, orientation of the cone on the crankshaft) can lead to significant deviations from the originally intended positioning of the shaft in the crankcase. A prerequisite for a correctly working ignition is that the pole wheel is perfectly aligned with the ignition base plate. Otherwise the trigger surface in the pole wheel will not run parallel to the pick-up, which can lead to misfiring. If the ignition does not produce a spark, the fault is usually to be found here. For easy rectification, we offer spacer plates (BGM8000S05) for the pickup on the ignition base plate. This allows the correct distance to be restored in a simple manner.

It has probably happened to everyone before, the workshop wisdom: "After fest comes off!" - KNACK and it has already come true.
No problem if you've only destroyed a nut or stud, it can usually be easily replaced. It starts to get annoying when you don't have a replacement.
Thread repair: It gets really annoying when you destroy a thread in the motor housing! This is often time-consuming and usually expensive, especially if it cannot be repaired with a threaded insert, for example. Before the housing has to be replaced or welded, there is often a Thread repair with Weicon Glue possible.

Screw loose?

In addition to too tight, there is of course not enough tight! Too loosely tightened nuts or bolts can be dangerous. You don't even want to think about what can happen if wheel nuts or brake discs come loose. Loose carburetors, intake manifolds or cylinders can quickly damage the engine. Depending on the area of ​​application, there are self-locking nuts or threadlocking !

Always one after the other!

In addition, there is also the even tightening of screws and nuts to be taken into account. Everyone knows that from changing tires, here, for example, tightening is done crosswise to ensure an even fit. In the case of engine housings and cylinder heads, for example, stresses caused by unevenly tightened stud bolts should be avoided at all costs. There are even components that need to be fastened in a certain order. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions here.

Wrong!

Right-hand thread? Left-hand thread? As a rule, nuts and bolts are tightened clockwise (to the right) and loosened counterclockwise (to the left) = normal right-hand thread. But there are also exceptions such as Lambretta pole wheel nut and left mirror: often with a left-hand thread.

Vespa Tuning: Before the complete assembly of the engine can be done, all the work that generates chips has to be done. Only then can the housing be cleaned.

The BGM177 is designed in such a way that the cylinder also works perfectly on the original overflow channels.
In our project, however, we use the opportunity to adapt the housing directly. Better filling of the cylinder always means one higher possible torque.

The easiest way to transfer the contour of the overcurrent ducts to the motor housing is to place the appropriate cylinder base seal on the housing and thus transfer the contour to the housing.

The sealing surface is best marked with a foil pen. Then, with the aid of the cylinder base gasket, the Contour of the overcurrent channels marked.

The contour in the motor housing is then adapted with a milling cutter. It is not necessary to mill the channel exactly as deep as in the original motor housing.

The BGM 177 cylinder is designed from the basic construction in such a way that the piston offers a sufficient cross-section.
The generated surface of the adapted channel can be milled and rough. No further polishing is necessary. As long as there are no rough corners and edges, a slightly roughened surface is perfect.

How do I mount the tires on a Vespa / Lambretta?

Using our example bgm Classic tires we show the correct assembly of the tire (split rim).

1. Reduce friction 

The inner tube is subject to flexing when the tire rolls and therefore it makes sense to cause friction inside talc to reduce.
The white powder reduces the friction between the tube and the tire and thus the wear and tear of the tube.

A small amount of talc is distributed inside the tire and the tube is filled with air just enough so that it does not expand and is also dusted with a little talc.

2. Check the direction of travel

Before installing the tube, please first check whether the tire has a direction of rotation specified by the manufacturer.
This notice is with ours bgm Classic tires in the form of an arrow on a tire flank and indicates the direction of rotation of the tire when driving.
The tube is then inserted to match the direction of rotation of the tire, so that the valve, typical for Vespa, points to the left-hand side in the direction of travel.

3. Assembly

To mount the tire on the rim, the so-called Montagepaste a real help. This means that the tire can be pushed very far onto the rim. This makes screwing the two-part rim much easier.

First, the valve is inserted through the wide half of the rim and then pushed into the tire.
The narrow rim half also has an opening through which the valve is accessible. When inserting it into the tire, make sure that the clearance for the valve is congruent with that in the wide half of the rim.

Our bgm Stainless steel rims have replaceable bolts. During assembly, it is important to ensure that the head of the screw is inserted into the square to prevent rotation.

The five nuts of the rim halves will be crosswise with 16 - 18Nm attached. When attaching, make sure that the hose is not trapped between the rim halves.

With this super lanyard, all keys form a unit, but do not interfere with each other during operation: the ignition key and steering lock / overhead locker key remain in their lock and are connected by the key spiral.
