Moto Nostra Cruiser Flyscreen suitable for Vespa GT / GTS / GTV and Vespa PX models. The windshield is made of 4mm thick, scratch and impact resistant PMMA (Altuglas®). The material is extremely insensitive, resistant to aging and particularly easy to clean.

Available with clear, tinted or black glass

The disc sees with the small area nice sporty out, but already very effectively leads the Airstream over the driver. This is caused by the wind pressure at higher speeds noticeably relieved. It is not uncommon for that to work through you higher top speed noticeable. Due to the smaller area, the Crosswind sensitivity significantly better than with higher discs.

Brackets individually or in a set

We offer the brackets in different designs separately. It is thus possible to choose an individual version (e.g. a clear lens with a black holder or a tinted lens with a chrome-plated holder).

The screen fits the original bracket of the Piaggio GTS Cruiser screen without modifications
(Standard ex works on the Vespa GTS Touring models).

EASY CONSTRUCTION:

The assembly is easy and can also be carried out by inexperienced users. To mount the disc on the Vespa GT / GTS / GTV models, the existing holes in the lower handlebar cover must be enlarged against the direction of travel. These elongated holes are indicated on the inside of the cladding, indicated by light cast seams. The material in this area is also deliberately kept very thin, so processing is very easy (small pliers, cutter, sandpaper)

Incidentally, the discs also fit the Vespa PX.

This external expansion tank of the shock absorber enables a larger compensation volume even better response, at the same time became the Adjustment range of the damping increased.

Damper fits 8 and 10 inch Vespas

Thanks to the optimized installation dimension of 165 mm the damper fits all 8-inch models without any problems, without preloading the spring or changing the angle of the swing arm.

In the assembled state, the external expansion tank is largely covered by the fender, which means that the original optics the front of the vehicle is retained.

Our customer Felix and his new project: Lambretta Barracuda! He's coming to our premiere with this impressive scooter custom show. But let's take a quick look back first:

A previous project by Felix is ​​the Vespa PX “EL-SIDNEY”. This scooter tells a story: it was the first Vespa with a CNC engine.

The Vespa PX EL-SIDEY has been the development vehicle for various developments since May 2006, not least for the one that is available today Vespa CNC motor from GP-ONE and KR-Automation GmbH, as we do in our Vespa Smallframe demonstrator XI GENERATION have installed.

Of course, the scooter was also in various newspapers and magazines such as Scooterring, Rollerjornal, etc.

The Lambretta BARRACUDA story

After selling the EL-Sidney in 2014, Felix fell into a deep hole ;-). Well at least he was looking for a new challenge and comforted himself with a Lambretta frame.
Over time, the vision arose to build another vehicle with a CNC motor. With the idea of ​​further developing the ideas from the El-Sidney project and integrating new features. The Lambretta BARRACUDA should surpass the Vespa EL-SIDNEY.
So at the end of 2015, Felix gave a Lambretta motor to Topometric for 3D measurement. The tried and tested cylinder and membrane from the Vespa engine should also be used in the Lambretta. The decision to integrate an injection is new. So we can be excited and hope that our dynamometer will do the same ...

Why “BARRACUDA”?

In order to have a theme around the vehicle, an individual design was developed around the Lambretta: BARRACUDA.
Why “BARRACUDA”? Predatory fish, long and slender. Fits 100% on this Lambretta!
Custom is the program here. Most of the parts are custom-made. The design was based on all of these self-made CNC components adopted in order to get not only a paint job, but also many small, finely worked details. LML - the last manufacturer of classic hand-operated scooters

We took sad news from the English online magazine Power off .

LML, the world's last manufacturer of classic hand-operated scooters, seems to be on the verge of a final end, but we hope the tide will turn.

Who does not know the history of LML "click" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohia_Machinery_Limited). In its history LML has built license productions of the popular Vespa models:

Mostly pretty close to the original, sometimes a bit more idiosyncratic, they were always popular inexpensive entry-level models that were particularly characterized by their economy. The Indian reality simply required other priorities and so longevity and economy were a clear selling point.

At peak times, 30.000 scooters rolled off the assembly line every month and LML was not only serving the Indian market with them. Classic PX models have always been very popular in Asia, Iran and various African countries. Egypt was one of LML's main sales markets, which unfortunately was their undoing: The depreciation of the Egyptian pound in 2016 made the scooters so expensive that this market collapsed. Unfortunately, no market was able to make up for this gap and so LML stumbled even more.

We first visited LML in 2014 and were able to see the production live at the Kanpur plant.

What we saw impressed us both deeply and at the same time, because to see a PX body made from a huge roll of sheet steel was an impression that gave us goose bumps. We were very impressed and it was just incredible to see the birth of a scooter live.

LML has potential

At that time it was clear to us, “LML has potential!”. Although the feel of some LML parts may not quite meet the requirements, they are of the highest quality in terms of quality. We installed the LML gearbox in 30 HP engines in the workshop without any problems.

The complete LML engines are unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio and the painted ones LML frame sets  a great starting point for a new build. The rest of the original parts are also very popular with us. Unfortunately, there is a lot of counterfeiting in India and low-quality replica parts are simply sold in counterfeit LML packaging. You should pay close attention to this and keep your hands off any dubious offers.

LML has not only produced Piaggio models under license, but has also carried out many further developments to which the original has to bow:  LML motor housing XXl transfer ports. We discovered this motor housing by chance in the factory. To this day we have not really been able to clarify where they were installed.

On the one hand, they have HUGE transfer ports (why weld and mill them ?!) On the other hand, the cylinder base was smaller than on the Piaggio engines. (we offer the housing already spindled to Piaggio dimensions: LML motor housing XXl transfer ports )

Furthermore, the development of a 4-speed four-stroke engine in the LML PX dress should not go unmentioned because this is the only way to comply with the strict exhaust gas values ​​and the gearshift has (had) a future.

As the grand finale, we were there when the production of the LML PK was rebuilt. The idea was actually a good one. One Smallframe with automatic motor and disc brake. She would certainly have had a future at least as a 50s in Germany. Fatally, it was only available as a 125cc and there was probably no mass market there. We had a fork (shortened Lusso fork) sent to us as a sample and saw great potential for V50, VBB and rally / sprint conversions, but unfortunately that never happened.

LML recently sought salvation in the production of a tricycle for the Indian market  http://lml3wheelers.com/. Unfortunately, this project does not seem to have had the necessary success and it looks bleak at the moment.

We keep our fingers crossed for LML that there is still an investor who recognizes the potential. It would be a shame if such a great company with enthusiastic employees just disappeared.

Little spring check - what do your cables look like?

The birds chirp it from the trees and roofs, the scooters are fetched from the garage and basement: spring is finally here. It's high time you took a look at the Bowden cables and cable sleeves on your scooter.

The cables are relevant to safety! The ropes mostly operate the brakes, clutch and gas on your scooter. Anyone who has ever seen a scooter hanging at full throttle knows what I'm talking about. A broken train can have fatal consequences. I don't even like to imagine a brake that doesn't work. In the best case scenario, if the clutch cable breaks, you simply have to break down and have to change it on site or get help.

But it doesn't even have to get that far: With a simple function and visual check, you can minimize the risk of a broken cable in advance!

Function test: Are the trains stiff?

Unfortunately, you often don't notice that yourself because you have got used to the loss of comfort. In any case, the slightest creaking noises and even a slight hooking movement when actuated are noticeable. Sometimes the lever does not return to its original position or only hesitantly. Does your throttle not go back by itself? These can all be indicators of worn cables.

A visual check of the cables makes it easier and more certain. Most of the trains are hidden in the frame, but usually no problems arise there. Take a close look at the cable housings and inner cables. If your moves look like this, it's high time you changed them.

Cracked and brittle outer shells are a problem!

But the problem is homemade and only a matter of time: the old, originally installed trains are very simple to assemble. They only consist of a thin, outer casing and a narrow metal spiral in which the inner Bowden cable runs. If the outer shell has become brittle over the years, moisture and dirt can easily get into the track of the train. High wear and tear and stiff trains are the result. That means a security risk and definitely a loss of comfort.

Our wire rope hoists exceed the factory specifications and impress with the highest quality at a low price. Tips:

So you can achieve a displacement of up to 187cc on this housing without having to mill. All models without separate lubrication (up to approx. 1984). The mold corresponds to that of the Ele starter models. Thus, the housing needs a Elestart fan wheel cover and a CDI holder for the electric starter models. To retrofit an electric starter, the housing can be retrofitted with stud bolts for the Elestartmotor (cut a thread, alternatively simply replace the existing hole in the fan duct with one that we also offer Sealing plate close).

The engine shells have not yet imprinted an engine number / prefix, ideal for conversion purposes.

LEVER FOR VESPA PX WITH DISC BRAKE

For vehicles with hydraulic disc brakes, the upper brake master cylinder on the handlebars is crucial for choosing the right lever / set:

  • GRIMECA year of construction 1998-2004
    From 1998, with the introduction of the PX Disc models, Piaggio installed master brake cylinders from Grimeca. This can be recognized by the inscription “GRIMECA” on the brake fluid reservoir.
  • HENG TONG year 2004-
    From around 2004, the company switched to Heng Tong brake pumps. These have no manufacturer identification. These pumps are also used on the current PX models.

LEVER FOR VESPA PK MODELS

The PK S and PK XL1 models (approx. 1983-1989) use brake and clutch levers made of plastic (black) ex works. These are slightly larger on the mount and therefore require an approx. 1,5 mm thick washer at the top as well as at the bottom for compensation. Then the levers can also be used here. The PK XL2 models (recognizable by the choke lever on the handlebar) can unfortunately not be equipped with these levers.

OUR TIP

The LED indicators use a series resistor to operate on the existing on-board network / indicator relay. This is necessary in order to adequately address conventional (mechanical) flasher relays and to achieve even timing. If you have optimized your on-board network or still want to, you can remove the series resistor (which is located outside the indicator housing in the supply line) when using an electronic flasher relay. The indicator glasses also fit conventional indicators, but the test mark is only valid when used with the Moto Nostra LED indicator.

Well, to be honest, the Benelli transmissions are not that new: STEFANO BENELLI  has been infected with the Vespa virus since the 80s. In the motherland of Vespa there has always been Vespa tuning and motor sports such as drag races, circuit races and Vespa cross. As a passionate tuner, Stefano is active in the Vespa racing scene.

The history of the tuning possibilities of the Vespa transmission in Germany is quite clear. At first there were mostly far too long primary translations by the top dogs like DR, Polini, Malossi and Pinasco. Then there was the “short 200th gear” from a Vespa T4 for the PX 5, and the scooter was often given the right fender at the same time. The four-disc clutches with mostly too hard springs and pressure plates with ball bearings were soon replaced by the “Cosa clutch”, which bgm has continued to develop to this day as Superstrong clutch for many is THE Vespa clutch at all. Somewhere in between there was a Vespa PX 5-speed gearbox that was unfortunately not very durable.

At that time, the high-end Vespa tuning gearboxes from Benelli were already being used in Italy. Well-known tuning companies like ZIRRI or BFA / BFG have the gearboxes manufactured by Benelli. In Germany they are Vespa Benelli gearbox largely unknown and difficult to come by. That's changing now, that Scooter Center has added Stafano Benelli's Vespa gearboxes to its range.

Why a Benelli Vespa gearbox?

For sporty engines in the LargeframeRange, offers Benelli reinforced secondary waves on. The “Drag Cluster” series is manufactured with a continuous toothing on the third and fourth gear and is delivered with its own gear wheel for the fourth gear.

This type of production means that an extremely robust tooth module can be selected, which makes the Benelli auxiliary shafts the first choice for highly stressed engines. The short and crisp secondary waves are on best combined with a longer primary.
The Primary reductions from bgm offer the advantage here that the module, as with the Benelli gearboxes, can be selected to be very stable.

 

Touring transmissions also available

Benelli gearbox Vespa for the Largeframe and Smallframe Engines Touring variants of the auxiliary shafts are also available from Benelli. Here the know-how is combined with carefully selected good workmanship and material selection. These auxiliary shafts can each be driven with the original transmission gradation and optionally shorten the jump from gear III to gear IV or the graduation between gear II, III and IV.

In order to find the right gear, or rather the right gear ratio, it makes sense to orientate yourself on the performance of an original engine, in the LF area of ​​the PX200. At a speed of approx. 100km / h, the motor of a PX200 rotates around 6000rpm and provides approx. 10PS on the bike.

If the fourth gear is now shorter in order to shorten the jump from gear III to gear IV, only a lower speed is achieved in gear IV at the same engine speed.

In order to increase the speed again at the same speed, it is advisable to extend the primary reduction again. In the end, the engine is again 6000km / h at about 100rpm, with the advantage that the jump from third to fourth gear is significantly shorter and the engine accelerates better in fourth gear. Another pleasant effect is that the longer primary drive means that gears I and II are no longer so aggressive in a more powerful engine, and the first and second gears can also be used more flexibly and in a controllable manner.

For the long tour, the auxiliary shafts are available with a short fourth gear and a short third, short fourth gear.

The performance of an original Primavera 125 serves as an example. As in our example with the PX200, the too long jump from third to fourth gear is shortened and the final speed to be achieved is adjusted again with a suitable primary.

In particular is the reinforced main shaft to mention. The choice of materials and the tempering process result in an extremely resilient component.

In contrast to other Italian manufacturers, the Benelli drive shaft still has the usual taper in the shaft. This means that even sophisticated solutions in the area of ​​the coupling have sufficient distance from the main shaft. In other manufacturers, the main shafts are usually made unnecessarily thick, so that a Hartz4 coupling can touch the main shaft in extreme cases.

The GPR version offered here is a special, closely spaced racing gearbox that was designed for maximum propulsion on the race track. Easy construction

In the meantime, however, the PX80 has also stood out from the shadows behind the PX200, which is favored in Germany, and there is a loyal fan base for the smallest motor from the PX family.

With the appropriate components, however, the PX80 can again experience an enchanting second or third spring and catch up with the performance of its big sister.

Vespa PX80 crankshaft - the weak point

Regardless of which cylinder was driving the unit of the PX80, the original crankshaft went the usual way: by losing the thrust washers and the resulting death of the lower connecting rod bearing, it quit its service - good advice was expensive.

The tunability of such motors also suffers due to the large opening angle.
