New Vespa luggage rack passage for Vespa PX

Countless globetrotters have already sufficiently proven that the Vespa PX models are downright packhorses. Especially the PX Lusso models, which came onto the market in 1984, have the most solid and stable frame of the Vespa Largeframe Model series. This can be seen in the maximum permissible total weight of a whopping 310kg. After deducting the vehicle weight and a driver of 80kg, an amazing 120kg payload remains.

However, not everyone would want to have a large luggage rack at the front or rear for possible transports all the time. Therefore, for the sake of simplicity, many everyday things are taken along in the passage. In order to use this space safely, there is now a nice alternative to conventional luggage racks.

From the description of the TV report about the Vespa meeting

“The Vespa World Days, the largest Vespa meeting in the world, took place from June 22nd to 25th, 2017 in Celle. The event was organized by the local Vespa club. It is a mammoth task and at the same time a great dream. For a weekend, Vespa friends become event managers and Celle becomes the center of the Vespa world.

Ingo Weise, the President of the Celle Vespa Club, has been dreaming of bringing the Vespa World Days to Celle for 19 years and infected his Vespa friends with it. For a year they thought about, planned and organized together and transformed the CD Kaserne into an event site.

But the work does not end with the opening of the Vespa World Days. Then things really start. 4.000 Vespas are registered, 3.000 more are expected. That means 7.000 Vespas, 7.000 questions, 7.000 potential parking offenders. The city ticks twice for a weekend.

The Vespa is something of a legend among scooters. The Hollywood classic "A Heart and a Crown" made her famous all over the world. When the millionth vehicle rolled off the assembly line, this Vespa was even used by Pope Pius XII. blessed in St. Peter's Square in Rome.

Now Vespa fans from all over the world are coming to Lower Saxony with their Vespas. There are models including 50 horns, tuned engines, but also in the original paintwork. The whole variety of Vespa can be found on the event site.

“Die nordreportage” shows Ingo Weise and his friends how they forego sleep and free time when planning the mega-event and give everything. Even if they are enthusiastic Vespisti themselves, their focus is not only on the two-wheeled beauties, but on the success of a major event. "

Our Vespa GTS 300 demonstrator and catalog 2017

Since more than The classic Vespa has been driving us for 25 years on - but with all the love for the old sweetheart it is called the Look ahead not to lose.

We bought our GTS 300 in 2008 and it is one of the "models" with whom we did our first Vespa automatic catalog have designed.
We took our 25th anniversary in 2017 as an opportunity to dress the lady in a new, contemporary style. The desire was to combine modern aesthetics, the latest technology and exquisite craftsmanship into an unobtrusive but technically ultimate Vespa.

See for yourself whether we succeeded:

Vespa GTS 300 Tuning Custom Demonstrator - All parts with link 😎

On our Scooter Center Vespa GTS demonstrator nothing was left untouched. Many conversions can only be seen at second glance. The self-made drop bar, the redesigned fender and the seat are definitely noticeable. The fork, which has been shortened by 4 cm, the 13 “chassis and the Brembo brake system are the fine details that only become apparent on closer inspection.

With the exception of the following changes, you can use all installed products in our Scooter shop to buy. In this SC - Vespa GTS catalog we have linked all products directly for you, see search below. In the catalog we only show a selection of our products and only the products that are also installed on our GTS. You will find a lot more choice in our Vespa shop.

BRAKES

The noble Brembo racing brake technology is now available from us with a TÜV certificate.
The brake kit used here consists of a Brembo P4 with four brake pistons. The black anodized aluminum adapter is an exclusive in-house product of the Scooter Center and has a TÜV certificate.

You don't have to drive a highly regarded racer to experience how much fun a first-class braking system can be. Brembo brake calipers also offer a quantum leap on series vehicles when it comes to high and easily controllable braking force.
Piston diameter 2 x 30 mm + 2 x 34 mm, 2-part, cast, CNC machined. Adapter made of high-strength aluminum, CNC machined, black anodized, TÜV certificate.

A comparison on a Vespa GTS model with Brembo brake calipers showed that the braking distance was up to 20% shorter than the standard components.

Lambretta World Rally with Scooter Center

This weekend it went for that Scooter Center Team to Monza / Italy to set up our stand at the 70 ° Lambretta Anniversary World Rally.

The venue was in a class of its own and should be known to everyone: Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the Formula 1 track!

VIDEO 70 ° Lambretta Anniversary World Rally Monza

70 ° Lambretta Anniversary World Rally Monza

Fortunately, we missed the hail showers on Friday and arrived in Monza on Saturday morning with the best Italian weather. the Scooter Center / bgm booth was an immediate crowd puller.

The trip on Friday went to the former Innocenti factories - and some Lambretisti, armed with screwdrivers, bought souvenirs from the former factory premises?

Saturday noon the highlight of the event: around 500 scooters were free to drive on the racetrack for 2 hours.

Overall, the organization was perceived by some of the participants as a bit chaotic - but let's be honest: we love Italy for that, in the end everything worked out and we have another favorite spot in Italy.

Vespa T5 big box review SLUK

bgm BigBox Vespa exhaust for T5 is test winner

Our Racing exhaust for Vespa has been tested again. And again it is the test winner with the greatest performance. In that case it became ours BigBox for the Vespa T5 from UK online scooter magazine SLUK tested. Here is a video of the test:

BGM BigBox Touring for Vespa T5

The bgm BigBox Vespa T5 is designed as a replacement for the original sensationally good exhaust system of the Vespa PX special model T5. The T5 engine designed by Morini has some peculiarities due to the adapted powerful 125cc motorcycle cylinder.

The T5 engine reacts very strongly to the exchange of the exhaust system. The BGM BigBox for the T5 is based on the standard exhaust in order to keep the torque in the lower and middle speed range at a similarly high level as the standard exhaust. Depending on the setup, it can turn out a little further.

Nice to see at our customer Nino in Portugal, Original T5 with the bgm BigBox. Seems to be fun:

BigBox T5 Touring performance diagrams

Vespa T5 Original with BigBox

dyno-diagram_bgm_bigbox-bgm1012tr

Vespa T5 152cc Polini with BigBox

dyno-diagram_bgm_bigbox-polini-bgm1012tr

Conclusion

Nice to see in the diagrams: ours bgm BigBox harmonizes with the original engine as well as with Polini 152 or Malossi 172 tuning cylinders. On revised engines, the larger volume of the BigBox Touring results in a significantly better torque and power curve than with the original exhaust.

Final Words

You can find the detailed test here: SLUK

The Silver Fern needs a new brake system.

We use a complete LML disc brake for this. A T5 fender is to be mounted on the new steering tube. Since the T5 mud flap is a bit smaller, it is necessary to move the side holder.

The existing holder is therefore removed and the point at which it is to be welded on is prepared.

We bring the holder with the fender into the correct position.

After the holder is firmly connected to the steering tube again, we prepare the hole for the steel braided brake line.

The bore is widened to 9mm so that the connections of the brake line fit through.

We are still dipping the steering tube in fashionable matt black, we hope the new color scheme does not unbalance the sophisticated color concept of the Silver Fern too much.

While the paint dries, let's turn to the steering head bearings.

Special tools are required to remove the old shells.

With the plate ...

you get into the gap between the lower bearing shell and the seat.

The tool for the upper bearing shell ensures that the shell does not tilt in the head tube and widen the sensitive seat when it is removed.

When the old shells are removed, the new ones can be fitted with an insertion tool.

The steering tube is still drying. Therefore we only now turn to the handlebars.

The handlebars must be prepared accordingly for the brake pump holder.

We are taking this step-by-step.

Cut in first ...

... and then mill out to match.

We will replace the supplied Nissin brake pump with one of the current Vespa S / LX models.

The reason for this is the smaller piston diameter, the Nissen pump comes in the classic
1/2 inch format therefore, with a piston diameter of 12,7mm, while the pump of the Vespa S is equipped with an 11mm piston.

The smaller piston diameter enables higher braking power with less manual force.

The greater lever path due to the smaller hydraulic reduction leads to better controllability.

The adapter and the pump need to be adjusted slightly.

Fully assembled, it gives a very pleasing picture.

After the finished processing, the handlebar is also adapted to the new color concept and soon "shines" in matt black.

The steering tube is now dry. After the fender is mounted, the lower one
Open bearing shell and dust cover.

The steering tube is then inserted with plenty of grease for the bearings.

This one…

we replace with a set of new trains in Piaggio quality.

For the throttle cable, we use a universal throttle cable, the original Piaggio cable is unfortunately too short for the 28 Keihin.

After all the cables have been threaded in and the switch cables have been laid, the handlebars take their place on the new steering tube. We still have to come up with something on the subject of gas pipes. In order to open the 28er completely, the original gas reel would even be sufficient, but you would have to grasp at least once with the “tap open” movement.

This results in 2 solutions.

On the one hand, quick throttle grips are preferred, they give a sporty touch.

However, if you prefer a restrained look, you might be better off with a very inexpensive solution.

For some it is old hat, the pulley with stop.
There is no need to mount a suitable gas tube for quick throttle and the handlebars remain symmetrical.

Due to the conversion to a fully hydraulic brake system, there is no longer a brake cable running through the gas pipe, so we can freely choose the stop of the roller by positioning the screw.
However, if a brake cable continues to run through the gas pipe, then you are usually forced to drill new holes for the split pin attached to the pulley.

Piaggio Vespa T5 125cc

Piaggio Vespa T5 125ccCongratulations Vespa T5 for the 25th birthday!

- the motor with five overcurrents (Traversi5) like from the two-stroke picture book,
- comfortable seating position for driver and front passenger,
- a small disc that cleverly bypasses wind turbulence past the helmet,
- a tachometer that scientifically substantiates the engine orgies,
- black spoiler under the leg shield
- and racing driver Nelson Piquet as pole position representative.

Nobody can say that in 1986 Piaggio did not go to great lengths to equip their newest racehorse in the stable.
Due to the unfortunate driving license requirements and the modern look, the reaction in Germany was rather restrained. The wild teenagers had their driving license limited to 80ccm and tormented their way through life with the brave but lame PX 80, and for the older guys the virile character and sporty look of the five were probably a bit too modern.
In Great Britain and Italy, due to other legal provisions, a real boom set in.
But the T5 has also made the leap to a classic here in Germany. Not least because of their great engine characteristics. 12HP from 125ccm made and let larger displacement Vesps quickly look old, and that with a unique driving experience, thanks to the turbine-like speed.
The T5 and its engine have become indispensable for trips out, club rallies, meetings, or hidden in strange clothes on the racetracks.

Due to many imports from Italy, Spain and Great Britain you can see more T5 scooters on our streets today than in the 80s. Should you stumble across a good specimen, don't hesitate and strike.

[youtube] uKp0FNMBwFQ [/ youtube]

We also say congratulations Vespa T5 and we have a lot of products in our program to preserve this classic. Be it the rare original exhaust systems, specific frames / add-on parts or tuning items such as the popular Malossi 172. Whether original or conversion, our heart beats for the T5.
A small selection from the one stop scooter shop for maintaining a great scooter.

Vintage Cruise 2016 inspires the whole north !!!

The 2nd edition of the Vintage Cruise rattles from July 15.07th. -17.07. through northern Germany. Supported by Scooter Center.

The organizer Sören Clausen expected over 60 scooters - 67 came - from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Lower Saxony, which means that the paddock of the Vintage Cruise 2016 had more than doubled compared to the previous year.

The Start

As always, the start was at KTG in Bargteheide. Practically a short refueling opposite ... The goal for Friday was the club area of the Lüneburg VC and so on Friday, July 15.7th at around 10:00 am, the pack set off. Mölln and Hagenow were firmly planned stops to show the old boxes to the public and of course to stretch their legs. In Hagenow you could indulge yourself with small delicacies for lunch in the Café Sophie. On this occasion, the Oldtimer Club Hagenow eV did not miss the opportunity to invite us to their meeting this year, 20.08-21.08, and give us a small gift. After an hour we had to leave and the route now led us to Darchau, where the first of a total of 4 ferry trips was due. The Lüneburg VC received the Vintage Cruise on the market square it visited with great fanfare, press and countless photo opportunities. A total of over 90 scooters were present here. Some of them insisted on boarding a snack nearby, but then they went to the club area to set up the tents. The first day ended with sausage, music and cold drinks. They repaired, talked shop and laughed until late at night. A few repairs were necessary, the only Zündapp Bella had difficulties starting and the orange-colored Lambretta from Frank Höppner had to get a new exhaust gasket. She had said goodbye loudly on the route.

IMG_5429

And since the tour was registered this time, the organization also received convenient information such as "... instead of XYZ there is a construction site" or "... the K51 between locations A and B is blocked during the appointment". For example, the scooter pilots had to drive through Harburg in groups of 2 on the 10nd day at 5-minute intervals. It was explicitly advised not to race. Well, if you pull the lever in a different way everywhere, then doing without it is not so difficult here ... So the group drove “reasonably slowly” in groups of 10 to the refueling stop in Finkenwerder. That went surprisingly well. Then we went collectively through the old country, through Jork at noon to Lühe to the ferry terminal. Usually there are motorbikes there - but those present hadn't seen that before: 67 Vespas with 71 riders. Everyone quickly spread out to the sausage and fish stalls that had been set up there, and soon you could hear smacking and slurping everywhere. And such a break on the Elbe, that has character. Then another half hour to relax on the dike and then we went on to Wischhafen. The scooter drivers were amazed when they saw a line of vehicles about 1,5 km long at the confluence with the ferry. It was not long discussed and one of the yellow-clad marshals quickly drove to the front to clarify whether the little wasps would not fit somewhere in between - which then happened. All scooters overtook the entire line of cars and we crossed the Elbe in 2 groups. This meant that the deadline for the market in Glückstadt could almost be met. Ice cream, coffee and cake were consumed and one or two bystanders asked their questions.

IMG_5495

Then the sluices of heaven slowly opened their gates and the rain suit was put on. Another ferry trip across the Kiel Canal, then it went at a reasonable pace towards Deichgrafenhof. When the road was wet and there was a stiff breeze from the west, some were not doing quite as well as you soon discovered. But just before the Eider Barrage, the sun pleased us with its rays. And as lead drivers, Uli Liebholz, Olaf Zwad and Sören Clausen were already looking forward to 2nd gear a few kilometers before the tunnel there. Go full throttle once, make some real noise - that's a great thing. And the sun was also preserved. When we arrived at the golf course everything was still a bit wet, but the tents were set up quickly and then we went to the grill, where the first sausages, grilled cheese and baguettes were crispy. Then the crowd went to the cozy EGANS PUB, where you could order one or the other cider, Guinnes or lager. The hut was full until 1:00 a.m. Of course everyone made sure that you have to get up in the morning ... Unfortunately, the pub had to close its doors on August 1st due to a change of ownership. We had the honor of being the last spectacular event here, said Gunnar Zimmermann, the captain. But a new clubhouse is under construction and the golfers and vintage cruisers are all looking forward to next year.

So? RenClausen_Hagenow-05

Day 3 greeted one or the other around 5:30 when the groundskeeper began to mow the square. Our standard equipment included earplugs, which was distributed the evening before. So you could indulge a little further in sweet scooter dreams. At about half past nine the departure was and all the "woodcutters" were at the start. In Lunden, like last year, there was a delicious breakfast and after a short detour to a classic car meeting, we went to Husum, where the harbor market was already waiting. Then it went on to the penultimate station in Rendsburg on the Paradeplatz, where some Vespisti were already waiting to receive the supply train. Also at the start: the previously missing Zündapp, which now accompanied the troops to Bad Segeberg. The local ice cream parlor owner paid a visit to the Vespas and Lambrettas and I was delighted with the Italian flair that was spreading in front of his shop. On departure, some of the people from Kiel said goodbye, and here and there on the route one or the other waved to the group and disappeared into the side streets. Nevertheless, this year's Vintage Cruise landed with almost 10 scooters in Bad Segeberg, where colleague Meinhardt Hilgendorf was waiting with coffee and cake and a delegation from Lübeck. There is no need to mention what a boon the fresh coffee was. Everyone said goodbye and everyone went happily on their way. But then there was another moment of shock because a passenger from Hamburg on the A50 lay on her side in a confusing place. But due to the quick reaction of the last breakdown of the day, which was also stopped there, and a short telephone organization, the Braunschweig chapter stopped without further ado on the journey home and loaded the two scooters onto the trailer with the remaining luggage. And more importantly - the driver is fine, a few abrasions and bruises were all. The police officers present were very impressed that we had cleared the accident and breakdown area so quickly.

And finally ...

Almost everyone arrived home safe and sound, the last one around 2:20 in the morning, with a sore rump, cramps in his hands and 2-stroke soot on his face - but everyone was happy and completely overwhelmed by driving, driving, driving ...

Frank Höppner from Scooter Service Stormarn described it very aptly in his words: "Sören, I've never driven in a row for so long since I've been in the Scythemen Club - that was unbelievable!" ... I like to write that up for myself.

So? RenClausen_Hagenow-06

Sören Clausen and Claudia Bühring, as organizers, thank everyone who was there, who helped and were available for this and that - it was basically the sworn family from last year again immediately. The breakdowns and failures were kept within limits - almost everything was repaired quickly and with all imaginable help - and the marshals did a first-class job and you meet on Facebook in a yellow safety vest as a route leader.

Planning for next year: 4 days, rally to Denmark - I've already made everyone crazy. You will find the information on this shortly on www.vintage-cruise.de.

1 liter Vespa scooter reserve canister

FuelFriend, the smallest fuel canister on the market!

The season is in full swing! Many Vespisti are on their way to the Vespa World Days to Saint Tropez / South France. Next year it won't be quite that far for Vespa fans traveling from Germany - the Vespa World Days 2017 take place in Celle / Germany.

Either way, the scooter tours with friends are great fun. With the optimal equipment make it just a tad more fun and it will make the trip even more fun much safer!

Transporting luggage on Vespa

Proper stowage of luggage is an important point. Your luggage should be attached to the scooter as centrally and securely as possible. Preferably with a bag that lasts at least as long as your Vespa: with the SEA'N'SAND T-Bag Vespa travel bag (Leg shield pocket / tunnel pocket / footwell pocket).

Increase the range of your Vespa

Alpen Custom Show 2015

We were at the Alpen Customshow 2015 Innsbruck

The Contact with our customers is very important to us. Such is the tradition of great own Scooter Center Events like our own Scooter Custom Show SCOOTERSHOW and the Classic Days very big. the Support the scene is a matter of course for us, so we support a lot of scooter meetings and are also at many events with our own Scooter Center / bgm - Stand represent. So we went to the last weekend too Alps Customshow of our friends from Tyrol.

IMG_9967-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015 IMG_9955-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

After an arduous journey with over 800km, lots of traffic jams and holiday traffic, we arrived in Innsbruck in beautiful Tyrol with the best weather!
Stop - I think we have to clean up here first:

“Alpen Customshow”, “beautiful Tyrol”, “best weather”... NO, unfortunately the custom show did not take place in a mountain hut with cow bells ringing. After all: thanks to Innsbruck's great location, there was still a mountain panorama: as soon as you step out of the event hall:

IMG_0042-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

No vacation in Tyrol

And of course it wasn't a vacation either, it was hard work, because we had made every effort to use the huge storage space of the long van effectively and loaded the cart full of scooter parts.

IMG_9973-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

But thanks to the many helping hands of the Mountainmen scooter club, our van was unloaded very quickly. So we were ready for the rush of visitors right on time for the start of the first Alpine Customshow in Innsbruck.

IMG_9992-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

We had a lot to do all day and enjoyed the many interesting conversations with our international customers

  • Germany,
  • Österreich,
  • Italy and
  • Switzerland is very happy.

This weekend, they are special to us. often noticed by very young Vespa drivers, some of whom bought from us with their parents. This is how we imagine family shopping together on the “long Saturday” :-)
It's nice to see that the long-term support of the scene pays off and that young, enthusiastic Vespa and Lambretta drivers are also joining us!

Speaking of the “long Saturday”: the customshow lasted until 20:00 p.m. - a long and exhausting day, which we had a lot of fun.

IMG_0036-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

We had promised fair prices and many scooterists have on Scooter Center Stand made real bargains. Thanks to our mobile payment terminal, customers were also able to go along with ease Credit, debit cards and even PayPal pay, which was very well received. We have several boxes of those new bgm catalogs distributed, costly merchandise, benches, tires, rims, helmets, ignitions, small parts etc. and were very happy to be able to drive home relatively empty.

The storm on the BigBox

A very special kind of rush surprised us in the late afternoon:
We have had some of our new bgm PRO BigBox Sport Vespa exhaust systems for the whole day Vespa PX 80-150 and Vespa PX 200 / Rally 200 sold, but suddenly the demand exploded and we sold two huge boxes of BigBoxes within a very short time. Only later it turned out that outside on the test bench an exhaust test took place. The operator of the test bench had tested a lot of exhaust systems here and of course the performance of the BigBox had convinced everyone here. The performance-oriented Vespatuners took advantage of the favorable opportunity and bought a new BigBox directly on site at the fair price.

IMG_9986-alpen-customshow-innsbruck-2015

Thus the bus was loaded relatively quickly and the stand was quickly dismantled. Many thanks again to our friends Andy, Stoffi and Zini, who helped us with the tent dismantling and with whom we spent a nice evening at the evening event in the Weekender.
