ESC season finale 2021 Harzring Aschersleben

European Scooter Challenge 2021 season finale at the Harzring

On Saturday, September 25.09.2021th, XNUMX the KR Automation ESC season finale 2021 to the Harzring in Aschersleben.

The training day

On the training day (Friday), when the sky was overcast from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., you could keep your knee on the ground, get to know the route and improve your own lap time.

The race day

When it got light on Saturday morning, the sun was glittering on the horizon and should therefore be a dry event compared to last year (all-day shower).

Free practice started first and gave the five classes the opportunity to acclimatize. In the "one-size-fits-all" classes, which consist of two Smallframe- and one Largeframe-Class pass, the scooters must be equipped with uniform engine components to enable the same conditions and exciting duels as possible.

In qualifying the flying Frenchman Romain won the pole in the K1 ahead of Valentino. Robert won the K4 ahead of Achim.

In the K5, Felix won qualifying ahead of Thomas. In the K3 Christian in front of Marco and in the K6 Timo in front of Roman.

After lunch it was clear that it would be an exciting afternoon.

It started with the race of the K5 (unit class 133ccm Polini)in which the decision of what the championship podium would look like was still pending. Felix already had 62 points ahead of Thomas in the first race, who was again closely followed by Markus and Igor. If Felix fails, Thomas could still become champion and Igor, third place from Markus. So it went into the first race. Igor was able to move into first place after the start and led the field for the first two laps until Felix took the lead with a tight overtaking maneuver at the end of the start-finish straight and did not give it up until the end. Second was Thomas and third Igor.

It was especially exciting again in the big one Smallframe-Unit class, the K4that was launched together with the K1.

The K1 and K4 Drivers offered an exciting race that unfortunately ended with a highsider for Romain and the race had to be stopped as a result. After the restart, Ulf was able to prevail and thus also win the day for the K1. In the K4, Robert was the first to cross the line in every run, making his day's victory perfect.

As a conclusion followed a 45 min endurance racewhich only K5 vehicles were allowed to be used, and two drivers each were drawn as a pairing. The driver could be changed after 15 minutes. A total of 12 drivers took to the start, some of them gripping duels. Robert was able to achieve the fastest K5 lap time of the day with a 1,02.634 in a thrilling three-way battle (Robert, Valentino, Felix). This new edition was ultimately won by the Valentino and Kuba team.

Daily rating:

Poini 133 Racing racing cylinder Vespa

Polini 133 racing cylinder available!

This is a classic one Polini racing cylinder for the Vespa Smallframe Models PV / ET3 / PK / XL / XL2 models, except PK automatic.

This tuning cylinder is the revised version of the legendary 133 Polini and offers a plug & play high durability with a lot of torque.

But the cylinder also offers a lot of potential for ambitious tuning of your Vespa beyond the 20PS. If that's not enough: Polini 152 Big Evo cylinder

Poini 133 Racing racing cylinder Vespa

The main innovation of this "racing version" compared to the classic 133 relates to the cylinder head, which is made of cast aluminum with a high silicon content. In addition, the head has additional cooling fins on the underside. This means that the heat is dissipated much better, both from the cylinder itself and from the head. The compression was also slightly adjusted.

The copper seal not only conducts heat better, it also contributes to a significantly better seal between the cylinder and the head.

The layout of the cylinder is unchanged and is determined by the six transfer ports. The ASSO piston is made of die-cast, which gives it very good durability and low weight.

With a 57 mm bore, 51 ccm with a 130 shaft and an impressive 54 cc with a 138 shaft are available.

Racing cylinder of the K5 in the ESC

The cylinder is used unchanged in the ESC (European Scooter Challenge) in the K5 class very successfully in races and has "put" around 15 hp.

We already had this cylinder, extremely revised, with 30 HP on the test bench!

This is the original press release from Polini about the cylinder:

POLINI CYLINDER KIT FOR VESPA 125 PRIMAVERA ET3 WITH NEW CYLINDER HEAD:

RACING GENERATION Polini Motori has revised the popular cylinder kit for the Vespa 125 Primavera ET3. This is now also available as a RACING version with a specially developed cylinder head for better cooling. The cylinder head itself is also available individually. TECHNICAL DATA: The cylinder is made of cast iron with lamellar graphite. As a result, it has a self-lubricating effect and is very resistant to mechanical loads. This reduces the working temperature and prevents possible loss of performance. The cylinder has a 57mm bore and 6 overflow channels. The piston is made of chill cast light metal with a high silicon content and has two “S10” chrome-plated piston rings. The aluminum cylinder head is equipped with two fins, which dissipate the heat better. Cooling and compression ratio are optimized. The new copper seal prevents gas from escaping between the cylinder and cylinder head and facilitates heat exchange.

ESC race report - Cheb Challenge 2021 - Kartarena Cheb (CZ) - 10.07.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX

The second run the international "European Scooter Challenge“Took place this year on the popular and technically demanding track in Cheb in the Czech Republic

In order to prepare with as much track time as possible, many participants arrived on Thursday evening and during Friday to set up their camps and do a few quick laps. Unfortunately nothing came of it, because the weather god had other plans and the training, as well as the whole Friday many into the water. Woodstock feeling included.

Just in time for the drivers' briefing on Saturday morning, the sun finally had a reason and caused one or two sunburns among them during the course of the day 46 racers, their teams and the organizers.

In terms of sport, it was then, as usual, hot. Two-stroke sound, thrilling duels, overtaking maneuvers and one or two crashes, all of which had no consequences - at least for the pilots.

Particularly noteworthy was the action in K1 and K4. While Robert Leibfarth (K4 Trofeo Parmakit) was able to leave the field behind in all 3 races after moderate starts, there was a hard fight behind him in K1, which was also on the track. The well-traveled Frenchman Romain Baguet with his technically sophisticated scooter (thumb brake for the rear wheel) dueled with the newly promoted and reigning K5 champion Valentino Randazzo.

The first run was secured by the driver with Italian roots, the second by the French. In the third and decisive run it came to Showdown in the last corner before the checkered flag. The opponents turned side by side into the last corner. Valentino just missed the ideal line and got into an area with strong bumps with his racing machine. That pushed the rider and the machine over the limit, so that unfortunately there was a spectacular crash on the short home straight. The driver is doing well, the scooter will soon be back at the start. Win of the day for Romain Baguet.

Of course the other classes offered too excellent racing and also exotic vehicles like Two-cylinder Lambrettas, mopeds, pit bikes and long-distance racing scooters could be seen on the track.

The results in detail:

K1: 1st Romain Baguet; 2. Valentino Randazzo; 3. Marten Schnitzler

K3: 1. Toni Fattorusso; 2. Marco Abbate; 3. Piotr Skozewski

K4: 1. Robert Leibfarth; 2. Albert Heigold; 3. Marco Büttner

K5: 1. Felix Richter; 2. Thomas Lenkeit; 3. Markus Moderer

K6: 1st Gregor Koller; 2. Matthias Sinkovits; 3. Julian Freiberger

Fastest race lap: Albert Heigold (1: 03.392)

ESC Eurochallenge Scooter Racing Liedolsheim 2021

LTH Race 19.06.2021 Liedolsheim - Blechvespen on Fire

Scooter racing, event support and racing teams has im Scooter Center a long tradition! That's how it is Scooter Center zusammen mit bgm again this year sponsor of European Scooter Challenge (ESC).

On the weekend of June 19.06.2021, XNUMX that was possible first ESC race of this year's season, under strict CORONA conditions. Despite a complex organization, the LTH ESC team managed to make the race possible for the participants.

Powered by Scooter Center & bgm

The weather forecast suggested something good and so the first participants arrived on the legendary area of the kart track in Liedolsheim on Thursday evening. We remember the legendary “RUN & RACE” events in Liedolsheim only too well.

The new classes K7 (moped) and K8 (pit bike) were very well received and we were able to welcome many new faces.

Vespetta Racing, ESC season 2021, Liedolsheim, K1 run 1

Training on Friday

Despite temperatures around 38 degrees, many did not miss it on Friday and trained throughout the day on the route reserved for us.

You could already see on Friday that the machine, tires and driver were suffering from the hot temperatures. Nevertheless, the drivers' meeting started on Saturday morning at 08:30 a.m., highly motivated.

After training and qualification, the races started after the lunch break at 13 p.m.

Raceday on Saturday

The start was in 4 groups, whereby several classes were combined:

The new classes K7 and K8 started together
and K3 + K6 and the strongest classes Q1 + Q2 + Q4.

The K5 got its own group with an outstanding number of 19 participants.

Simson mopeds from Thuringia

Two participants in the K8 even took the long way from Thuringia on to get on with your Simson mopeds to start. The machines also aroused great interest among Vespa drivers and many "petrol talks" were held.

New participants "Rookies"

We were especially happy about two rookies again.

Julian started with his newly built Vespa in K1. However, he's been on the track for a long time and is still starting in the K8 as a double starter with his moped.

In addition, No. 599 tried its hand at Michi in the very strong field of the K5. Despite a few small falls, he held up bravely and even received the trophy for “Best Rookie”.

Old hands on their own

After a long period of abstinence, two old hands mingled with the participants again.

Falcon started with his PX, which was already there in the first ESC races in the 2000s. Unfortunately, in the first race, after a technical defect and a spectacular highsider, he had to give up the "old" women.

Veit drove with his tested and approved PK on Saturday morning from Stuttgart to Liedolsheim to take part in the race after his warm-up ride with the "bullet". The scooter survived all three races with flying colors and Veit was able to drive home on his own two wheels on Sunday. What an achievement!

Racing at its finest

In the open K1 and limited K4 Smallframe Classes it came back to racing at its best. The four-way battle of the last few years between Achim, Robert, Albert and Marco was enriched in Liedolsheim by the K1 newcomer Valentino Randazzo. These delivered gripping position changes at the top. In the end, Albert had the most physical and driving reserves and secured three impressive race victories. The fastest lap time of last year was clearly undercut again with 52,39s and is now on the level of the old top class K2.

Fastest lap with a moped

Julian Bartsch achieved the fastest time of the day with his 25PS moped with a 52,37s, which shows that there are hardly any differences in speed between the mopeds, pit bikes and scooters among the top drivers and that they work well together.

ESC RESIN RING 2020

We are sponsor of the ESC - European Scooter Challenge.
On 25.-26. September invited the KR Automation Season finale 2020 to the Harz-Ring in Aschersleben.

.

The training day

On the day of the training (Friday), you could train in bright sunshine and the whole day there was the opportunity to get to know the track or to improve your own lap time.

The race day

When it got light on Saturday morning, it was already wet and cold (12 degrees C.). After the heated battle in Cheb, a complete contrast program. The drivers' meeting took place under the newly designed canopy, where it started raining and didn't want to stop all day. Free practice started first and gave the five classes the opportunity to adapt to the general conditions. In the "one-size-fits-all" classes, which consist of two Smallframe- and one Largeframe-Class exist in which the scooters must be equipped with uniform engine components in order to enable the same conditions and exciting duels as possible.

It was especially exciting again in the big one Smallframe-Unit class, the K4.

Albert H. from the G16 racing team was the fastest man in the rain and was in first place ahead of Achim. Both gave everything and unfortunately fell. Achim's racing Vespa almost found itself in the men's toilet after the fall. After pulling his scooter out of the china again, he was able to finish the race in fourth place. In races 1 and 4 Robert fought hard with Albert and sometimes there was more water to be seen than the driver. Shoulder to shoulder through the wet curves! With the better end for Robert, and with it the championship in class K2.

In the K5 it was no less exciting:

Background: Valentino in first place in the championship standings in the K1 class, followed by Felix (-5 points) and Moody (-15). Three runs with 48 points each for the winner are still to be run.

Start run 1: After a great start, Valentino led the pack into the first corner, but had to let a strong Moody pass in the second corner. From the 2rd corner Moody slowly pulled away, followed by Valentino, Sebastian N., Christian K. etc. Felix didn’t really get going and had to fight some space fights in midfield, which made the train inaccessible for him made. Moody pulled away until the 3th lap, but then Valentino increased the pace and slowly but steadily caught up. (Meanwhile about three seconds between Moody and Valentino). Moody wanted to increase his pace again, but this led to a fall and threw him back to P5. Valentino took the lead, followed by Sebastian N. with a gap of about a second and was the first to bring it safely to the checkered flag. P6 for Sebastian, P2 for Christian K .. Moody had to give up completely one lap after the fall due to a technical ignition defect. Felix did not get beyond a 3 place. With this finish, Junior could no longer be ousted from P6 in the championship standings.

Run 2:  After another bombshell start, this time from pole, Valentino did not give up this lead until the finish line. Again closely followed by Sebastian, who couldn't catch up as close as in the first run. This time the gap was almost 1 seconds. Again in 2rd place followed Christian K. Moody could no longer show the speed of the 3st run and training and landed on P1, Felix on P6.

Run 3:  Seemed almost a bit boring, but the same as race 2, great start, another start-finish victory for Valle. It should be mentioned that a) Sebastian got off badly at the start this time, was involved in tough duels and had to put up with an 8th place. Moody also struggled and ended up on P5, which cost him 3rd place in the championship standings with the failure in the first run. And who will move up to P3 in the championship? Albert, who crossed the finish line in race 1 on P7 and race 2 on P5, and secretly secured the final podium in the championship with a hard-fought P3 in run 3.

At the end there was a 40min endurance race, in which only K5 vehicles were allowed to be used, and 2 drivers each (pairing was drawn). After 15 minutes the driver could be changed. The Achim and Valentino team won this new edition.

ESC scooter race Cheb 2020

The ESC - European Scooter Challenge scooter races

The Scooter Center supports motorsport and also the ESC - the European Scooter Challenge. As the name suggests, it is a circuit racing series with classic scooters made of sheet metal, predominantly Vespa and Lambretta. The first circuit races were held in Austria and Germany as early as the XNUMXs.

The main goal of the ESC is to offer a broad platform for scooter racing enthusiasts with all demands.

The various racing classes, which cover beginners to professionals and women, are based on these ideas.
In particular, the one-size-fits-all classes are to be emphasized here, in which real top-class motorsport can be realized with low maintenance costs and costs.

ESC race report - Cheb Challenge 2020 - Kartarena Cheb (CZ) - 01.08.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX

After the year 2020 had hardly offered any opportunities for sporting activities on old 2-stroke scooters, the time had finally come on August 01.08.2020st, XNUMX!

The first race of the European Scooter Challenge of 2020 could take place. The kart arena in Cheb in the Czech Republic opened its doors and over 40 Vespa racers came out

  • Germany,
  • Österreich,
  • France
  • and Poland

to finally let the asphalt glow again.

Heat battle of Cheb

With temperatures of over 30 ° C and bright sunshine, that was an easy exercise for the whole weekend. Those who arrived on Thursday or Friday could use the time to get hold of the last shady spots in the paddock and to extensively test the racing scooter on the track.

race day

On Saturday the time had come. Race Day! The start was in 5 classes, including 3 “one-size-fits-all” classes, two for Smallframes, one for Largeframe, where the scooters with uniform engine components must be equipped to enable the same conditions and exciting duels as possible.

The smallfames were particularly exciting. 17 starters competed for places on the podium in the small one-size-fits-all class K5. Including Vespa legend Stoffy Maier and newcomers Valentino Randazzo. The old master and the young daredevil offered gripping duels with daring driving maneuvers at the head of the field. Shortly before the end of the race, however, the two leaders were involved in a crash and so victory began Markus Moderer, who drew attention to himself with fast lap times. Valentino saved himself to 3rd place, 2nd place went to Felix Richter.

The second thrilling duel of the day was the faster one Smallframe Unit class K4 between Achim Wolf and Robert Leibfarth. The latter was able to secure pole position in qualifying. With a rocket start, however, Achim sat directly at the head of the field. After a few duels at the front, Robert was able to squeeze past the leader with a hard braking maneuver and drive home the race. The podium of the K4 was finally completed by Benedigt Neuberger, who only crossed the finish line a blink of an eye earlier than his colleague Albert Heigold.

The other racing classes also showed exciting racing on this wonderful racing day. Congratulations to everyone on the podium.

New starters welcome!

The ESC was also able to welcome three new starters this weekend. The newcomers were warmly welcomed into the group of drivers and - like every new participant in the ESC - were exempted from the entry fee in their first race.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019

What is the European Scooter Challenge ESC?

The European Scooter Challenge is a circuit racing series with classic sheet metal scooters, mostly Vespas.

The first races took place in Austria and Germany in the 80s.

in the 2000s the scene had its absolute climax and on some days there were over 100 drivers from Germany, Austria, France and Italy at the start.

Different racing classes have been created so that there is something for everyone.

In particular, the one-size-fits-all, such as the K5, with low acquisition costs and low maintenance requirements, are particularly suitable for beginners.

European Scooter Challenge (ESC) 2019

Up to 4 races take place every year.

The Scootentole Challenge in Mirecourt (France), the LTH German GP in Liedolsheim and the Cheb Grand Prix in the Czech Republic are again firmly on the calendar in 2020.

A route and a date for a fourth race are currently being selected.

The routes are GoKart / Supermoto routes. Most with a length of 1.000 - 1.200 and a width of 7 - 8 meters.

Many routes offer sanitary facilities and camping facilities, which gives the whole thing a nice, familiar racetrack feeling, because many arrive two or three days before the race. There is enough time to test the vehicle, train and talk shop together in the evening.

As part of the Classic Expo in Salzburg, one Vespa Special exhibition for the 70th birthday of the Vespa. the Vespa Club Flachgau (http://www.vespaclub-flachgau.com) exhibited some beautiful Vespas at the invitation of the organizer. Also Georg and Leonie, Scooter Center-Customers from Austria and active racing drivers of the European Scooter Challenge (http://www.eurochallenge.de) Racing series, exhibited their thoroughbred racing machines.

"The Vespa is one of the world's best known and most popular types of scooters. The first model was launched in 1946 under the name “Vespa 98” and was popularly known as “Paperino”. Over 140 other models followed. Over the decades the Vespa developed into a lifestyle object and the brand name immediately became a synonym for “scooter”.

Come with us on an exciting journey through 70 years of Vespa history in Hall 1!"

The organizer advertised the Classic Expo 2016, Austria's largest classic car fair.

Oldtimers and youngtimers

In addition to the Vespa scooters, there were also many beautiful and, above all, rare four-wheeled exhibits and a few motorbikes to see. The members of the VCF brought us a few pictures. Thanks a lot for this!

Run & Race 2016, Pomposa, Italy - September 16-18.09.2016, XNUMX

That was last weekend Scooter Center drove to the Adriatic coast for the Run & Race finals of the European Scooter Challenge. Thanks to the participation of the British Scooter Sport Organization (BSSO) and several other international drivers, the spectators are offered a good spectacle on the kart track.

With the Lambretta to the Adriatic

Sounds like a vacation, but the vacation is long gone. We had 3.000 kilometers and a few days of hard work in Bella Italia ahead of us. Our bus was packed with equipment and our best bgm parts for that Run & Race Italy

The journey started on Thursday in Cologne. After 1.000 km from Lake Garda, on Friday we drove the remaining 250 km to Pomposa on the Adriatic Sea with the scooters. So on Friday it is time to leave early and the tour group splits up into a tour guide and an escort vehicle. The tour guide is done by two Race Tour Lambrettas with 28 Polini carburetors and the bgm big box:

  1. Lambretta DL 150 with 225 bgm PRO RaceTour
  2. Lambretta LI 150 1st series 195 bgm PRO RaceTour

Lambretta DL & LI

Tough test drive in the rain and pothole slalom

Test drive in Bella Italia: summer, blue skies and every now and then a stop at the car grill. That's the plan! Half an hour after the start, reality overtakes our wishful thinking. After the motorway tunnel in Verona we drive into the pouring rain. Fortunately, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing - and we had plenty of that with us!

But nothing helps and until shortly before Pomposa we continue on the Autostrada in the rain.
Fortunately, we did not notice the violent storm directly. Several cars in guard rails and trenches, but give an impression of what must have been going on shortly before us.

Ride a scooter in the rain

Despite the capricious weather conditions and potholes, we are quite brisk. The cruising speed with the motors is around 110 km / h (GPS). The new TomTom Vio shows us the way. Both the bgm motors and the bgm chassis keep what is promised and the journey is quick and easy. The bottom line is a great tour that is a lot of fun.

Big Run & Race in Italy

As the rain stops a bit before Pomposa and the thick cloud cover tears up, we luckily do not arrive completely drenched. The welcome from Rimini Lambretta Centers Marco and the organizers of SIR is warm as usual. After the first cups of white wine, we first move into our luxurious bungalow.

Our luxury bungalow

There will be a 'menu' on both evenings. To be honest, we imagined it to be quite different in Italy ... Both evenings will be quite long for Philipp thanks to the super nighters.

The breakfast on Saturday morning is great, unfortunately we don't have much time because the stand needs to be set up and we are excited to see what awaits us. Breakfast by the sea in the best weather.

run-race-italy-2016_-18

Thanks to our routine, setting up our stand is quite easy for us - at least for those who were sober in bed before 5 a.m.
Accompanied by the incessant howling of sophisticated scooter motors, we present our bgm product range throughout the day and have many great conversations with old and new friends from:

  • Italy
  • Switzerland
  • Germany
  • Austria
  • Greece
  • England
  • Cyprus

Our photos from the weekend

RACE - The races

The exciting races take place directly across the street, where fierce battles were held down to the last meter. The Italian teams from CASA Performance and Parmakit dominate the big classes here - LINK bgm TEILE RENNTEAM. Our Austrian friend Stoffi impressively wins the standard class with the Polini engine -> LINK Shop standard class. Michi from the Stoffi team, we hang our camera around - this is what a one-class training session looks like:

RUN - the scooter meeting

Run & Race - there is also a scooter run during the race. The Italian clubs have stands on the grounds of the racetrack and you can buy parts or merchandise, marvel at scooters and talk about petrol everywhere.
The evening events take place on a camping and bungalow park where all participants were accommodated. The announced concert on Saturday is unfortunately canceled, the Open Air Nighter boiled over until the police arrive. The event is spontaneously moved inside and, if the mood is even better, the party will continue until the early hours of the morning.
After an Italian breakfast on Sunday morning, saying goodbye is difficult! But this time the 250 km return journey lies ahead of us in the most beautiful sunshine. For the last part we leave the motorway and take a scenic route through the hinterland and mountains. We reach our base camp on Lake Garda in a good mood. We still had a lot to do here:

  • Photoshoot Kerresinhio Quartet
  • Visit to the piston manufacturer Meteor in Milan
  • Photos & videos

Am third weekend of September takes place in Pomposa the final run the European Scooter Challenge (short: ESC - www.eurochallenge.de / www.facebook.com/eurochallenge) instead of. The name and the program pay homage to the legendary Run & Race events of Stonhead SC in Liedolsheim.

SIR (Scooterclubs Italiani Riuniti - www.scooterclubitaliani.com) a joint Italian meeting for the first time. the 1st national Run of SIR so to say.

In addition to the main organizers of the ESC and SIR, the meeting is being massively pushed by Casa Lambretta, Parmakit and the Rimini Lambretta Center. That Scooter Center Of course, we will not miss it and will be there with a bgm stand and catalogs. So what can we expect?

FRIDAY

Friday can be relaxed training on the Pomposa race track. In addition to the ESC drivers, drivers from all other European racing series are also invited. A joint coach is chartered for the drivers of the BSSO and the transport of the racing scooters is also organized and takes place via three central locations in England.

The nighter takes place on Friday evening - like all events (except the races) - in the holiday home Florence instead of. The SIR DJ's will play until the early hours of the morning.

SATURDAY

The ESC finale, that's all you have to say !?

In the evening there will be a joint dinner, the concert of THE BEAT followed by a nighter. Both open air and with an explosive mix of SIR Scooterists and Austrian and German ESC drivers who are celebrating the end of their racing series. The Dean from Rimini will have hit the nail on the head with his prognosis of a “mental jolly up”.

dean orton lambretta scooter center

Bon voyage - Dean visits this Scooter Center with the BSG Corse Lambretta

Dean Orton, the founder of Rimini Lambretta Center visited us in Scooter Center. On his way from Rimini via the Venlo Scooter Run to the ESC race at the Harz Ring, he stopped by for a few days. Dean use the trip to the BSG Corse engine to test its suitability for everyday use and travel. In doing so, it was anything but sparing the engine.

BSG Corse Lambretta test drive

dean orton lambretta

The test drive should be as real as possible, so Dean just packed his mod stuff and also:

  • another exhaust to test
  • all sorts of tools just in case
  • Camping equipment
  • and what else mod needs

Then he chased the Lambretta through the streets. From Rimini in Italy over the Alps to Austria and over Germany to Venlo in Holland. The way home then takes him back via Germany, past us and then on to the ESC race at the Harzring.

130km / h cruising speed with reduced 50PS

He reels this distance relatively relaxed at a constant cruising speed of 130km / h. And that with sufficient reserves to be able to overtake at 150km / h. Considerable when you consider the very short gear ratio of only 4,9. With this powerful motor, other speeds can also be achieved.

The CNC manufactured 305cc cylinder is throttled to approx. 50PS via the programmable ignition. Unthrottled, the engine already produced 63PS on the dynamometer at the Rimini Lambretta Center.

ESC roller race on the Harz-Ring

A European Scooter Challenge race will take place on the Harz-Ring this weekend. Dean meets the Casa Lambretta Racing Team here. The first tests and preparations for the race will take place on Friday. The Casa Lambretta racing scooters are equipped with the new parts of the Casa Lambretta Performance parts and some bgm PRO parts. We have the Casa team with the complete bgm PRO Lambretta chassis, the bgm PRO Lambretta silent blocks and the bgm PRO Superstrong Lambretta clutch equipped.

Our first time!

Even if we've known each other for ages and that Scooter Center Just as the Rimini Lambretta Center was founded around the same time, we already met at various events across Europe, but this year we managed to visit each other for the first time.

dean orton lambretta dean orton lambretta

In April we went to the Open Day and had a great time there in this brilliant Lambretta shop with our Italian friends, great Italian food and of course many great and unique legendary Lambretta models such as the Lambretta two-cylinder prototype and the BSG 305 Lambretta.

Here is the video from the Corso, Philipp on the BSG Lambretta

On Monday So it was finally time, it was an honor for us Dean im Scooter Center to welcome. We loved every second and there were lots of stories old and new to share and it was very fun. After a few “business talks” we had dinner together and it got very late. Dean praises ours Scooter Center Generation XI Smallframe Vespa the most beautiful object in the universe - just one breath later our bgm demonstrator Lambretta than that ugliest Lambretta in the world to brand. Mhhhh…. Since we were already confronted with this opinion at the Riva del Garda Customshow 2013, there had to be some truth to it. So we had to do something about it. So we decided to make the Lambretta available to him and to adapt the optics to the perfect mechanics.

dean orton on a lambretta
Tuesday Dean tests the Lambretta on the streets of the beautiful Rhineland and came right on time for the traditional afternoon tea to discuss some new Lambretta products.

On Thursday Dean actually wanted to look at our order process. Unfortunately, we got the glorious idea to test his scooter and both exhaust systems on the test bench. The diagrams of our P4 dynamometer almost coincide with the diagrams driven in Rimini. Time flew by and after dinner Dean was already on the way to the Harz-Ring.

Many greetings to the entire Rimini Lambretta Center team and to Vittorio with his Casa Lambretta Racing Team - we keep our fingers crossed for the race

Big Vespa race with ESC - season opening

FlyerCSMirecourt2013HDMirecourt, France, May 11, 2013 - ESC 2013 season opening and the 13. Challenge scooter tole writes history with 155 participants!

Most of the teams came on Thursday, while some Vespa teams took advantage of the organiser's good relations with the Mirecourt race track and arrived on Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday the track was free for training and test runs. Unfortunately, there was also a serious accident during training in which a driver broke his leg. Unfortunately, the season is over for him. We wish him a good recovery!

The weather was cold and there was light rain every now and then.

vespa-racing_mirecourt-04vespa-racing_mirecourt-02

On Saturday the Vespa races really got down to business:
Qualification runs in the morning and then the races after the lunch break. There were tough but very fair fights without serious accidents. The weather played along too, it only rained during the no-race lunch break.

With little surprise, the champions of the past years dominated the track and first places in K1 and K2. But the newcomers are pushing, such as the young Romain Baguet from the 70s Scooter team, he came third in K4 and first in class K5!
There were also 13 female participants with promising results. In general, the level of drivers and Vespa racing scooters increases from year to year. Also in 2013 there are great teams with beautiful scooters at the start. Scooters that also look like scooters, because cutdowns are kept to a minimum in the Challenge Scootentole.

vespa-racing_mirecourt-03vespa-racing_mirecourt-01

Particularly interesting at the Vespa races were, for example:
In the K2 class the French Vespa V5A # 216 from Julien Desnuelle, driver: Olivier Doussot (both Team SPRT). The first race with a Vespa with electronic direct injection without a carburetor. See also: M1L Quattrini Vespa without carburetor

Or the official LML 4T Corsa with a 166 Polini in the K6 / K8 classes. Not quite as fast as expected, but some people seemed very interested in the tubular frame ...

During the award ceremony and raffle some very nice gifts were given to the participants. Thanks to the sponsors and above all to that Scooter Center!

After that, the party went on late into the night.
On Sunday, we went home again after a well-deserved “croissant” from the Challenge Scootentole.
Many of the international teams had a long journey home ahead of them.

Next race: June 8th in Marcillat, 14. Challenge scooter tole

Vespa racing engine with 35HP + part 2

Today the first part of the innards of the Vespa racing engine is on.

Special requirements call for special solutions.

The crankshaft is subject to very high loads. It has to transmit the pressure generated by the combustion in the cylinder to the drive in a translatory manner and is subject to rapid jumps in engine speed during racing. Our special shaft weighs almost 2000 grams. and is therefore a lot more massive than an already quite officially balanced Polini rotary valve crankshaft with 1400gr.
In direct comparison, a V50 crankshaft weighs just 900 grams. a real flyweight.

The high mass of the crankshaft allows the engine to run very smoothly and is less likely to be disturbed by a rather heavy piston.

However, the rotating heavyweight requires proper storage, after all, with increasing speed, the loads and forces acting on the bearings increase exponentially.

quattrini falc03 (1)

The inner ring of the bearing is used for lateral guidance in the housing. Therefore, the axial play in the housing must be measured in advance for installation.

With a depth gauge, measuring is very easy and accurate. For self-control, we carry out several measurements at different positions in order to avoid a measurement error.

quattrini falc 004

The dimensions of both housing halves add up to an installation width of 78,05mm. We do not need to consider the strength of a housing seal. As is customary with modern assemblies, the Quattrini housing is made without a solid seal and only with Sealant put together.

In order to know before installing the bearing with which thickness of shim rings we need to insert the bearings in the housing, we need the installation dimension of the crankshaft.

The inner rings are shrunk onto the stub shaft. To be on the safe side, if an inner ring should jam during assembly, we fix the crank webs with one more to the crank pin Directional wedge and put one Recoil-free plastic hammer ready.

quattrini falc2 015

The crankshaft is with Cooler spray cooled down ...

quattrini falc2 017

and which heats the inner rings in the assembly tool.

quattrini falc2 019

As expected, the heated inner rings fell onto the crankshaft stubs without any problems and we can measure the installation width of the shaft.

quattrini falc2 021

The micrometer gives us a dimension of 77,58mm. With a desired installation clearance of 0,20mm - 0,40mm, we need a shim of 0,20mm. With that we end up in the middle of the tolerance field.
In our case we only need to compensate 0,20mm. If the dimension is larger, it is advisable to compensate for the axial play on both sides, as otherwise one-sided pressure load can occur on the connecting rod and connecting rod bearing. In the performance and speed category we strive for, the cornerstone for a reasonable defect ...

All other bearings are also used by shrinking.

At the primary bearing, the 16005 , we consciously choose a bearing with increased internal clearance “C3”.
The bearing fit in the Quattrini housing is in the lower tolerance range, so it is rather tight.
After shrinking, the housing moves back in and increases the pressure on the bearing outer ring. By installing the primary, the inner ring of the bearing is also expanded, which further reduces the bearing clearance. If the bearing clearance is too small, the bearing would run too tight and thus be damaged in a relatively short time.

At the camp for the Main shaft on the wheel side, we use a 6204RSH, i.e. with a one-sided seal.

This means that the brake anchor plate can be removed without losing oil when changing the primary or working on the clutch.

Before the auxiliary shaft and auxiliary shaft bearings go into the engine, we check the installation clearance of the crankshaft.

The simplest method is to control via Feeler gauge.

falc quattrini3 002

The crankshaft is simply inserted into the housing and the housing is screwed into the stator housing. Then the shaft is pulled once to the stop on the gear side and measured between the cheek and the flat surface in the housing. The crankshaft is then pulled to the alternator side and the gap is measured again. The resulting difference in dimensions is therefore our installation clearance. In our case the values are 0.70mm and 0,50mm, so the installation clearance is in a healthy range of 0,20mm.

Next we check the seat of the clutch spider on the auxiliary shaft. The cons must fit perfectly so that the force can also be transmitted on this tiny surface.

Copy of falc quattrini4 014

The contact pattern can be determined very well with valve grinding paste. When the cone is flat, the auxiliary shaft is ready for installation.

The spurious and 6200 we use it together because the installation position is deep in the housing and the small bearing is difficult to handle when loose.

falc quattrini3 006

Once the auxiliary shaft has taken place, we can start measuring the clutch.

Vespa racing engine with 35HP +

The racing season is approaching with giant strides. Only a few weeks until the first ESC race begin.

You can find information about all classes and the ESC racing series at www.eurochallenge.de

Our Vespa racing engine is used in class 2, the premier class of the Euro Scooter Challenge.
In this class there is practically only a displacement limitation of <150ccm as a regulation.
The top units in this class produce between 35HP and 38HP

Therefore, in most cases you will find a stroke / bore combination of 53/60, which results in 149,85ccm.

In our case, too, we pay for our Vespa engine Falc cylinder with 60 mm bore and a special crankshaft with 53mm stroke, suitable for the Quattrini motor housing, for use.

So that you can get an overview of which parts can be used in such an engine, we first laid everything out nicely ...

... and wrote you a shopping list on which you can find all the items you usually need.
This CSV file you can simply upload it to our online shop and then take a close look at all the items in your shopping cart.

We are only now taking a closer look at the motor housing. In the performance range we strive for, even small mistakes can have devastating effects. Therefore, each individual part should be carefully checked before assembly. Especially when partially used parts are used, as in our case, because proven ones can of course be used again as long as the parts are in good condition.

In the case of the motor housing, we first check all sealing surfaces and bearing seats.
In the area of action the spurious if a franking is noticed ...

Here it would be included in the later installation Warehouse get into trouble. Later on, on the racetrack, this can lead to further problems if a different gear ratio should be necessary due to the route profile.

So we have to rework the undercut so that the auxiliary shaft can simply be pulled out of the bearing and against a longer translated version lets swap.

Furthermore, there are no more special features in the transmission.

The “small” half of the case, however, still has a problem.
Normally you simply screw the stator the ignition tight, fumble the cables and ... uh ..

Ignition Vespa racing engine Smallframe Quattrini FALC

you definitely don't get one here Cable branch of the stator out of the danger area of the rotor.
Since we unfortunately cannot provide a WiFi ignition in the short time, a suitable outlet must be created.
It is important that you do not drill randomly anywhere into the housing and create additional, unsuitable ventilation holes.
You should also make sure that the cable branch is still held down by the stator plate in order to avoid really abrasive contact with the rotor.

For the sake of simplicity, we use one as protection in the implementation Rubber grommet of the V50.
The appropriate hole for this is 12,5mm.

Holes over a diameter of 10mm should always be pre-drilled smaller.

... and then bring it to the desired level.

Deburr the hole and try it on briefly.

All fine. The small half of the case is done with the rough adjustments.

Next, the area of the cylinder base comes into the focus of our assessment.

The Falc cylinders are manufactured with a cylinder base diameter of 66,5mm. Of course, Mr. Quattrini designed his motor housing for a diameter of 65,2mm, just to match his cylinders.

Measure Vespa racing engine Smallframe Quattrini FALC
This results in two possible options:

1. The motor housing can be spindled to the appropriate cylinder base diameter

2. The cylinder base of the Falcen is given a new outer diameter

We choose option number two.

So if you wanted to go back to one at some point other cylinder turn around, all options remain open. The wall thickness of the cylinder base is completely sufficient for this step.

Turned off briefly, the cylinder can be held in the housing for a test to determine the extent to which the processing of the overflow channels still requires.

Almost perfect, we only have to rework the outer edges of the channel in the cylinder. The case remains untouched at this point. We make the necessary changes after determining the control angle on the cylinder.

The motor housing is delivered without silent rubbers. There are some more or less sensible solutions for the traverse available on the market. Personal preferences also play a role in racing. The rubbers shouldn't be too hard. “Blocks” with more than 70 Shore hardness are certainly justifiable for fast straight-ahead driving, but as soon as you start doing gymnastics exercises on the scooter to quickly circle the bullet around the curves on a kart track, the requirements are more like the rest of the chassis: “as hard as necessary, as soft as possible ”.

Therefore, in our case, we use the Silent rubbers of the V50 / Primavera Models with approx. 50 Shore hardness.

On closer inspection of the traverse holes, it is noticeable that the stops for the silent rubbers turn out to be rather small. In order to avoid that the rubbers slowly walk into the bore with the high lateral forces and the housing can begin to move sideways, we use the additional stops from the PK models.

Here is the small stop surface ...

The stop ring of the PK is simply inserted and afterwards, when installed, is fixed by the silent rubbers.

The soft truss rubbers can be moved relatively easily with talc or a little Montagepaste used.

“He who is lazy is also clever”; therefore we leave the slightly strenuous work to the workshop press. In an emergency, the two-part silent rubbers can also be easily replaced by hand.

For the rear mount for the shock absorber, we use our own silent rubbers with the original case.

Compared to the Piaggio rubbers make our silent rubbers laid out a little wider ...

and in the assembled state they are flush with the shock absorber eye on both sides. This gives you better lateral support.

The next post is about installing the ball bearings and calibrating the crankshaft ...

For the second time, the 2 hour fall race took place on 29.09.2012/11/XNUMX in Rechnitz / Austria.

As part of the endurance championship, in addition to the spring race and the endurance in Hungary, the fall race is the end of the season in the endurance class.

On Friday the Speed arena can still be trained all day.
Time enough to get to know the asphalt carpet and the new one BGM chassis set on the replacement vehicle.

Our company vehicle was once again our tried and tested PK, with which we have already contested a number of long distances.

Equipped with a Polini Evo, Straw speed aspirator, BGM crankshaft and Big bertha, we had reliable 24HP and 20Nm available for the 11h to be completed.

The only 970m long route with 16 curves, alternating fast and extremely slow sections, demanded a lot from the drivers and the material. A fact that we had to learn painfully in the later course of the race.

For the entire race weekend, the weather report had promised a lot of sun and, above all, no rain.

So after the rain trips in Hungary and Magny Cours a real treat for the season finale - we thought ...

The Saturday morning showed up with a few clouds and the anticipation to start the sunrise was very great.

After the driver and vehicle are ready to go and the filling station has been set up,

we all looked forward to the Le Mants start at 7:30.

Having started from 11th on the grid, we were able to sort our way into 3rd place in the further course of the race through a tire poker when it started to rain.

There were many exciting duels and frequent changes of position, not just in the front rows.

Unfortunately, 3 hours before the end of the race, the wear and tear thwarted our plans.

The brake pads gave up their service on the vehicle after 8 hours and had to be changed.

All in all, this stop lasted around 8 minutes, so our lead on the 4th placed Chili Racer team was gone with 5 laps and we now had to start the race to catch up in 5th place, 2 laps behind.

In spite of all attempts, the lead on the longed-for podium place was now unreachable. With a cushion of a few laps in 6th place, half an hour before the end of the race we just decided to drive home safely and without falling and finished the 11h race in 532th place after 5 laps.

Looking back, we can say it was the most exciting racing weekend and a successful end to this season.

We thank everyone who works on the organization and realization of this racing series.

Thanks to our sponsor Scooter-Center and everyone who helped us through the 2012 season.

See you on the track - 2013!

Dates for the Spring - and fall race are already certain ...
