Open Day SC September 2023

Our second #OpenDaySC this year was actually planned as a small end to the season. (see Open Day April here) With the fantastic sunshine continuing, there is fortunately no question of the end of the season.

In addition to our Open Day classics such as free use of the test stand, the large private and SC parts market, there were also some new program items.

Here are the highlights, exhibitors, scooters and visitors

Vespa V98

This Vespa V98 was at the Open Day for the second time and on its own. When have you seen this before? And then almost in the wild...

The Vespa 98 was the first mass-produced Vespa from Piaggio. It was built between 1946 and 1947 and is divided into four series: V.98/1 and V.98/2 and from 1947 V.98/3 and V.98/4, although the modifications were insignificant. The V98 has a 98 cc engine, a three-speed gearbox and a top speed of 60 km/h. The leg shield is evenly curved. There is no main stand and for parking it is leaned on an outrigger that protrudes from the rear running board on the left and right.

Veybach Racing – Custom Paint Ciao

One of the numerous highlights was the premiere of Dirk Hövelmann's Ciao, which tells us:

“Only through the support of the entire team, (my business partners @pulverdesigngibesch, @hapebikes, @scootercenter and my friend @rolfbubmann) the project was finally presented just in time for #OpenDaySC!”

All details will follow soon here in the blog!

SC program

bgm team

The bgm team was available to answer questions about new products and developments all day long. And not just about our own brand but also about the latest highlights like this CMV 244, the Vape ignitions, the bgm Big box exhaust algae and much more.

Photo box

During the Photo box Around 50 classic cars and their drivers gathered. The majority - as expected - Vespas. Followed by 12 Piaggio mopeds, four automatics, four mopeds, three Lambretta and two Royal Alloy. All of them will be presented in detail in the blog and the pictures will be available for download.

Photo box in the Scooterist Weekender

Test stand

Auf dem test things were similarly lively. Arno and Roland made their debut in the role of P4 operators and did a great job. Despite everything, over 50 runs in 5 hours left my ears ringing.

Basti (Bastian Koch) delivered the most powerful Vespa with his VNB powered by a BFA360: 56 HP!
Meisi (Marc Meis) has parked the most powerful Lambretta on the roll. Marc rebuilt a Targa twin from scratch with the components of his choice and delivered 40 hp.

The most powerful Ciao delivered a good 10 hp and came from René Klein.

Merchandising stand

The SC merchandise stand and we have adopted the photo box from our Scooterist Weekender from last year as an integral part of the upcoming Open Days.

Our new #RealScooterist shirts and of course the posters were very popular when it came to merchandise. A portion of the proceeds goes to “Halfway through the bar”. Greetings go to Everell!

The second largest Open Day that Scooter Center ever had and we are so happy as the scooter family is growing, highlights were of course the weather but the #moped scene also stepped on the gas!!! 😱🔥
Beautiful scooters, nice people and a great atmosphere, that's what makes the #RealScooterists special!

On Saturday, December 5th, the Scooter Center the Düsseldorfer created their own Open Day to roll off. With a slimmed-down program of the Open Days, things got down to business in a much more intimate setting. The weather god played along this time and the sun was already shining at 9 o'clock when it was time to leave Düsseldorf. The mild temperatures of around 10 ° could have been a bit higher.

Speaking of failure: the grill in the Scooter Center unfortunately smoked that morning and a completely new way of preparing Bavarian veal sausages in a hot water bath was used. Revolutionary! After a first refreshment, the gasoline talk was continued with a short tour of the camp. And an order process was run through theoretically.

So that this becomes a day that is not too theoretical, the test bench was then put into operation. In this way, it was possible to test the recent changes in engine concepts and put them on paper. And there were some nice engines there.

All in all, it was a super fun day, which unfortunately was over much too quickly!

Vespa Smallframe Polini Evo 133

Vespa Smallframe with Polini cylinder over 20HP

Today our customer John was again with his Vespa Smallframe on our Scooter Center Test bench.

Where can I find a few more horsepower in my Vespa engine? John

More power for the Vespa

During his last visit, he asked us what changes he could still make to his engine in order to find a little more power.

After we had briefly discussed what its current setup looks like, we were actually able to give some pointers through which more top performance can be obtained.

Motor setup

Basically, the engine is equipped with a Polini Evo cylinder, a 54 bgm crankshaft. The 30th Mikuni TMX carburetor is attached to an MRP suction device. The very best prerequisites to become a clear Ü20 unit.

With an additional processing of the outlet and the conversion of the Polini membrane to 2 flaps, the following result comes out:

Polini Evo 133 Vespa Smallframe on the test stand Polini Evo 133, L&S Franz, Polini Membrane, MRP

With Kytronic even better

Due to the larger outlet area, the exhaust can work much better. The small loss at 6500rpm is unfortunately due to the missing Kytronic. In the current state (red curve), a standard PK ignition system provides a ZZP of 18 ° before TDC. their service. With the Kytronic it is certainly possible to shift the red curve back to the left at 200 rpm, in the direction of the performance that starts earlier.

But all in all a nice number - have fun with it on the street!

Vespa 235cc

35PS and 34NM to start with

Vespa 235cc

About 235ccm on one CNC motor housing are also more of an exception to the test for us.

Few enthusiasts dare to take on such a financial and mechanical challenge. The outwardly rather inconspicuous, silver Vespa PX, hides the technical eye-catcher under the right hood.

27.06.2014 007

The engine, carved out of solid aluminum, is manufactured with a sufficiently large membrane intake manifold.

The crankcase is filled by a 38 Keihin Airstriker in a very short and direct way.

27.06.2014 002

Gearbox is designed for over 50HP

The valuable filling from the crankcase is then transported into a Simonini cylinder borrowed from aircraft engine construction during the flushing process. The 70mm bore results in 235ccm on this engine!

The gearbox of this Vespa PX200, actually 235, is of course not off the shelf either. The company KR-Automation has reached into buttons and developed a very elaborately manufactured Vespa gearbox that can withstand a power of over 50HP over the long term.

Here are the inner values

Simoninii 235

At the moment “only” 35HP and 34Nm are pulling on the main shaft.

However, as the owner credibly assured us, this will be further optimized and we will soon meet again on the test bench to look for more horses.

We are very curious!

A test stand day was held at GP-one on January 28.01.2012, XNUMX in favor of St. Anna Children's Cancer Research in Vienna.
In addition to many interested Vespa and Lambretta drivers, some greats from the Tuning League and the ESC circus were guests.
Despite the winter temperatures, in addition to the Vespa and Lambretta fans, around 200 spectators were guests on this day, thanks to whose entertainment the proceeds for the children's cancer aid could be increased to over € 1000, -.

Most powerful Vespa Smallframe was a Falc engine built by Patrick Scharf with 41,8PS / 30,7Nm on the rear wheel.
The best Lambretta was with 23,6PS / 22,5Nm and the best was Vespa Largeframe measured with 39,2PS / 31,2Nm.

Vespa races MirecourtESC goes France

For the third time we visited our friends from scoothole (the French GSF) with whom an ESC run will be held in Mirecourt / France this year.

As usual we had it SCOOTER CENTER Test bench here and arrived at the racetrack this year even in the most wonderful weather.

Some had used the bridge day and had already arrived on Thursday in order to have enough preparation time on the track for the races on Saturday.

The event was again very well organized, the ambience wonderful and in my eyes one of the most beautiful but also a very exhausting route of the ESC.

On Saturday the sun was shining all day and luckily nothing worse happened for the rest of the day except for a violent collision.

The starting field was the largest since the ESC was founded and with around 150 starters France, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands a colorful mix to it.

Dennis drove his Polini EVO with 51 Polini rotary valve shaft & Franz exhaust.
Alex ditto with Polini EVO with 51 Mazzucelli shaft and 105 BGM connecting rod, membrane intake manifold & fire magic exhaust.
Torsten the Parmakit W Force with 54 BGM wave & Big Bertha exhaust.
All three racing scooters are with the MMW Hartz 4 coupling equipped and one Vespatronic.

We started this year for the first time in the ESC in classes 1 & 2 and were very satisfied with our results.

Fortunately, the bad weather only moved over the kart track towards evening and so we could go home on Saturday evening with a clear conscience.

Thanks again to our sponsors!
The results can be seen on the ESC page -> http://www.eurochallenge.de/ and we are looking forward to Liedolsheim (RUN & RACE)!

In this sense: you see each other / on the route
