The BBT V2 is a further development of the well-known Big Box Touring exhaust system. During the revision, we attached great importance to depicting the widest possible spectrum of usable engine concepts.

Our prototype was driven more than 3000km to ensure that the final product delivers what it promises.

It was driven on an original (unprocessed) Rally200 Femsatronic block with standard shaft and Malossi 210 Sport as it comes out of the box.

In our tests, the engine developed just over 17 hp. Due to the higher performance and the higher torque, a straight-toothed 23/63 BGM primary is installed (3% longer than standard). The base plate of the Femsatronic was reworked to a long hole in order to be able to adjust the pre-ignition from a fixed 24° before TDC to 18° before TDC. The squish edge as specified by Malossi with 0.9mm and the air filter without drilling / processing.

Sitting upright on the Autobahn, the scooter runs at a reproducible speed of 120 km/h (according to GPS), corresponding to 7000 rpm with an additional 16 hp on the wheel.

In this graph we show the BBT2 (blue) compared to a Polini Box (red), measured in third gear:

The manifold, the contour of the exhaust shells, the damper chamber and the selectable diameter of the tailpipe are the changes made in detail.

The manifold itself has been modified in the course and to increase performance and the new exhaust shells have been optimized for more ground clearance.

In the damper chamber we have added components to achieve further turning and an increase in torque. The tailpipe can be adapted to the displacement and the speed of the respective engine by removing a plug-in part.

The tailpipe with plug-in part (d=18mm) is suitable for touring-oriented engines such as e.g Malossi Sports, Polini 210/211 and Quattrini 232

After removing the plug-in part, the new BBT has a tailpipe diameter of 20mm Quattrini 244-252 and Malossi MHR very good and also offers significantly more power and speed without thermally influencing the engines too much.

In summary, the BBT V2 achieves more across the entire speed range than the previous version on current engine concepts.

In addition to my everyday driving device, Maryzabel's Platonika also had to be used for experiments.

You can read about the exact equipment of the Platonika with our bgm177 cylinder here in the blog link to blog

Here is the comparison on the engine of the Platonika:

ventilated, this engine represents a drive machine of the current generation.

Changed course - the manifold runs closer to the exhaust body and is additionally supported with a strut

Depending on the engine concept, the plug-in part can be pulled out

Sport exhaust Scooter and Service NEWLINE for Vespa PX200 - Part 1

The powerful NEWLINE exhaust system series from Scooters and Service are 'handmade in Germany'. The boss of Scooters and Service, "Wool" (Wolfgang Riehn), has its headquarters in Bispingen near Hamburg, well-known far beyond the country's borders, for Vespa special parts, custom conversions and very strong but always everyday engine concepts.

Like no other, Wolle has focused on the Vespa segment, and over the years has repeatedly set new benchmarks in terms of optics, chassis, sheet metal work, engine technology and exhaust systems. Legendary is his 250N, powered by a water-cooled 250cc Husqvarna cylinder, based on a V50, with over 50PS (already in 2006!) And street legal.

Over the years, Wolle has repeatedly brought new, innovative exhaust developments onto the market, with each system being manufactured piece by piece in-house.

The development and production of the Newline series began more than 10 years ago and is still a real "bank" despite many new developments in this sector. The most outstanding feature is certainly the great wide performance range of the exhaust, both in terms of the intended use and in terms of power output. With a merit of the early diverging elbow, which is rare in other systems. Wolle has now added two further expansion stages to the very good Newline in order to make the exhaust systems even more suitable for everyday use. This resulted in the Newline 'Silent' series with unique interior insulation.

RACING EXHAUST VESPA - NEWLINE CONCEPT

The Newline systems are designed to achieve a perfect balance of high and early torque, a wide speed range and the lowest possible noise development on engines with tuning cylinders (e.g. Malossi 210/221, Quattrini 232/244). The whole thing with full main stand suitability and high quality standards.

Due to the long development time, the exhaust is a real all-rounder. Whether under 180° exhaust control angle on a 'plugged' Quattrini 244, or on MHR221 with over 190° exhaust angle, the Newline always works. In our extensive series of tests with a Quattrini 252cc engine (Quattrini M244 cylinder + 62mm stroke king shaft), the Newline Standard (without insulation) was always at the forefront in terms of performance and torque. Its prime discipline is its high and, in direct comparison with other systems, relatively early torque. This makes it extremely easy to drive. The good power range, which follows the torque peak, is simply fun on the road due to the ease of turning and, above all, one thing: Instant.

DIFFERENCES NEWLINE / NEWLINE 'S' / NEWLINE 'S PLUS'

At first glance, the Newline exhaust systems are virtually indistinguishable. However, the 'S' and S PLUS' version can be recognized by the spot welds in the middle segment area of the exhaust (these are the attachment points for the inner insulation). What they all have in common is the massive exhaust hanger including doubled gusset plates of the retaining plate on the exhaust body. A construction for eternity. The quality of S&S systems is evident in many small details. The exhaust manifold is sealed with O-rings on both sides. A socket is also used on the outlet flange (diameter suitable for Malossi Sport/MHR cylinders, whether aluminum or steel flange). All Newline exhaust systems are not intended for use with a spare tire in favor of the option to fit a wide tire. Incidentally, all Newline systems that we carry in our shop are made for use with a center stand. These versions are significantly more complex (with more cones) than the slightly cheaper versions for vehicles without a center stand. However, the performance is identical.

NEWLINE

The conventional Newline is the first choice for everyone who wants to use the system with the highest performance potential from the Newline Trio. The insulation is only taken over by the screwed-on end damper. At the same time, it is the lightest version of all NEWLINE systems. If the volume is not overly important, but already drives or wants to drive an ambitious engine, e.g. on the Malossi MHR basis, the conventional Newline is the perfect choice.
The exhaust body with manifold (without silencer and bracket) weighs 2850 grams in the 'normal' version.

NEWLINE 'S'

The Silent series is 800 grams heavier than the conventional Newline. The extra weight comes from the multi-wall construction and the internal insulation. High-temperature-resistant insulating material from the automotive sector is used here. The interior insulation insulates so effectively that the system meets the noise levels required by the TÜV (depending on the engine concept). The intake area on diaphragm controlled engines is often louder than the exhaust noise of the NEWLINE 'S'. The internal insulation also improves the torque increase in the lower speed range. The weight of the Newline 'S' (exhaust body with header but without muffler and bracket) is 3650 grams.

NEWLINE'S PLUS'

Maximum expansion stage of the silent concept. Even more complex interior insulation reduces the noise levels to a minimum. The S PLUS weighs just under 200 grams more than the Newline S or 1000 grams more than the conventional NEWLINE because even more insulation material is used here. The result is a really unbelievably dull and quiet exhaust, we could hardly believe it ourselves ...
The weight of the Newline 'S' (exhaust body with header but without muffler and bracket) is 3840 grams.

The Silent series is through the low noise levels Rightly very popular and offers a perfect basis for fast street engines with the option of official registration by TÜV / Dekra. Although this is always done individually (there are no reports), it is usually not a problem for years of construction before 1990 (power measurement and noise measurement required).

In Part 2, we focus on the noise levels and the performance curve of the three Newline systems on an unprocessed Malossi Sport 210.

EXHAUST THEORY

A real work of art, in the literal sense of the word, is necessary until a real work of art of resonance exhaust is created from a boring sheet of metal. A 2-stroke exhaust is much more than a pipe that diverts the exhaust gases from the engine and makes them quieter.

2-stroke engines achieve their high performance / torque by charging through the exhaust.

Anyone who has ever driven their scooter without an exhaust will have noticed that there is a lot of power missing. The exhaust, if designed according to the resonance design, is both a 'vacuum cleaner' and an 'air pump' at the same time. Ideally, it extracts the exhaust gases until some of the fresh gases in the cylinder have already reached the exhaust. At the so-called resonance speed of the exhaust cylinder system, these fresh gases are 'pumped' back into the cylinder in the exhaust. There is now more fresh gas in the cylinder than would have been possible by simply sucking it in. The result is a high specific torque. Since engine power is a product of RPM and torque, if the high torque is also delivered at high RPM, then power will also be high. Unfortunately, the resonance range of an exhaust is limited. The higher the power, the narrower the speed range in which it is delivered.

On the other hand, a very wide speed range can be achieved if the power is selected to be rather average. Finding the perfect balancing act between the two extremes is a fine art. The effective resonance range is also dependent on the control angles of the cylinder. These are the main reasons why one and the same exhaust can produce very different results on different engines. The entire oscillation system must complement one another and be coordinated with one another.

This is associated with an immense expenditure of time, material and money. New variants are constantly being tried out and compared. Such periods often last for weeks or months. As an exhaust developer, you can seldom afford the luxury of designing an exhaust for a single specific engine. A successful exhaust has to work on many engine concepts with various cylinders including different control angles and components in order to be considered 'good' in the market.
Anyone who has already dealt with 2-stroke engines can understand what an enormously complex work is behind every 2-stroke exhaust system. The comparison to the construction of a musical instrument (e.g. a trumpet) is not at all exaggerated. With both, all dimensions, angles and diameters have to be exactly right in order to hold a perfectly sounding or working instrument in your hands.

This is followed by the high art of the exhaust builder school, in which the prototype (which is usually completely straight) is converted into a version laid in arches on the vehicle. For this purpose, so-called unwindings are made, usually with a cardboard model. Based on this, the sheets are cut out, wrapped and stapled together. After trying on the welding gauge, the final welding takes place as well as the many countless small work steps that lead to the finished end product.

Vespa GTS Euro 5 tuning

It used to be the case that we were the first to swap the exhaust on the Vespa, and that is still the case today and that is not entirely unjustified!
Personally, I believe that Piaggio has a deal with the tuning manufacturers and therefore always makes the exhaust as ugly as possible. But that's just a personal guess ...

With a new Euro5 GTS, up until now there was no way to get an approved exhaust. But now something is happening: we have 3 exhaust systems on offer for you.

First of all, I have to say what basically applies to approved exhaust systems: it is essentially about optics and sound tuning. Of course, a big change in performance cannot be achieved with these exhaust systems. So you have the choice: just buy the exhaust that you like best - or is currently available or fits your budget ...

To make your choice easier for you, we have pictures in the videos with built-in exhaust systems and the exhaust sound these were provided to us by the manufacturer.

Result & conclusion of the test

Nice and clear to see how good the box is from the start Performancebut also with plenty of torque scores in comparison to the 'racing exhaust systems'.

This is exactly what makes the bgm PRO boxes so nice to drive. There is always enough power available without having to struggle with gear connection problems or having to turn the gas like crazy to get things going.

The moderate consumption values of the engine concepts with the bgm boxes are another advantage, apart from the original look and the pleasant background noise. Another outstanding feature is the protected fastening system with adjustment options in both horizontal and vertical directions. This allows tolerances and, above all, spacers used to be compensated for different strokes and connecting rod lengths.

POLINI ROAD BOX Vespa PX now available again

The Polini Road Box exhaust is now available again for small and large engines:

This Polini exhaust for Vespa is a very good alternative to the outdated SIP Road. The Polini surpasses the SIP Road across the entire speed range, both in terms of power and torque. The early and high use of torque make the Polini Box a ideal tour companion. The well thought-out construction of the exhaust system makes it possible to permanently maintain the low and pleasant noise level of the system.

Of course, we tested the exhaust ourselves and drove many kilometers with it. The quality and fit is good, even the exhaust paint on the manifold lasts longer than average. Harmonizes very well with that BGM177 cylinder.

FOR VESPA PX ONLY?

The exhaust was designed specifically for the Vespa PX models. On older vehicles that were built before the PX series, ist es möglich that the stop tab of the main stand touches the manifold. In our experience, they only touched the angle plate of the main stand on Vespa Sprint, Rally and Co. very lightly.

bgm BigBox - a good choice!

Our bgm BigBox Of course, it always fits PX and the Touring also fits rally, sprint & Co. and is often not just for these oldtimers great alternative. Choose between the Big Box Touring or Big Box Sports, depending on the engine concept and characteristics.

Test Vespa Box exhaust

Boris Goldberg, in collaboration with MMW Racing, commissioned the very informative English online magazine ScooterLab.uk (SLUK for short) carried out a very elaborate exhaust test for the Vespa PX200 Models made. The focus of the test was on the now very popular box exhaust systems. This means exhaust systems that are more or less similar to the original exhaust in optics and sound, but offer a significantly better performance than, for example, the BGM BigBox Touring or Polini Box.

In order to make the results available to all readers, here is an excerpt of the most interesting tests.
In general, two different engines were tested:

  • Original PX200 12PS motor
  • PX200 engine with Malossi 210 Sport cylinder, long stroke racing crankshaft (60mm stroke with extended inlet control angle), serial carburetor SI24

EXHAUST COMPARISON PX200 ORIGINAL ENGINE

The original PX200 engine is designed as a throttle engine. As a result, it offers a lot of torque with a flat power curve.
Due to the short control angle and small flushing areas, the engine cannot be operated sensibly with a classic racing exhaust. The torque loss in the lower range is so great that it can lead to problems with the gear connection from third to fourth gear. At the switching speed, the engine falls exactly into the range where the racing exhaust has significantly less power than the standard exhaust. Under unfavorable circumstances, the engine then literally starves to death in fourth gear and does not go any faster than in third gear.
In addition to the optical and acoustic inconspicuousness, this is one reason why the box exhaust systems have become so popular. With almost the same performance as a 'real' racing exhaust, these offer a significantly more linear performance curve without any dips. Thus, the engine with a box exhaust is usually much more harmonious and relaxed to drive.

The Polini Box and the Big Box Touring are a prime example of how a good exhaust can help a production engine get going.
When developing their exhaust, Polini has based itself very closely on the Big Box Touring, which was previously on the market.
On the original engine, the BigBox Touring is clearly ahead in terms of torque and pulling power:

POLINI BOX ON PX200 ORIGINAL ENGINE

The performance curve of the original Piaggio PX200 exhaust is always used as a reference. In addition, a not for sale exotic was stored in the diagram (an exhaust of the special model PX125 T5, which in turn was provided with an exhaust manifold of the PX200).
The Polini Box runs very harmoniously on the series engine. It broadens the usable speed range and increases the available torque and power quite considerably.
Compare the lower yellow curve of the original exhaust with the upper red curve. The engine speed is specified via the left / right axis and starts at 2800 rpm. The motor power is read over the vertical axis, the higher the curve, the higher the motor power at the given speed.
The original exhaust reaches 9,5 HP which is the normal rear wheel performance of a 12 HP Vespa. The 12 HP are measured in the factory on the crankshaft without the losses from the gearbox, tires, etc.
With the Polini Box you get the maximum here 11,5PS achieved, so already 2PS more than the standard exhaust. The absolute torque is identical to the standard exhaust.

Performance data and improvement compared to the original exhaust: 11,5PS / 16,2Nm (+ 2,0PS / + 0,0Nm)

BGM BIGBOX TOURING ON PX200 ORIGINAL ENGINE

The BGM BigBox Touring runs much more powerfully on the series engine than the Polini. Up to approx. 5700 rpm, i.e. exactly in the speed range for which the original transmission was tuned, the BigBox Touring is well above the already good Polini Box. The slightly earlier end of engine speed at 7000rpm (Polini 7400rpm) is not relevant because the production engine in fourth gear (due to the normal driving resistance) only rotates up to 6000rpm anyway.
The BigBox Touring is therefore still unbeaten on an original engine when it comes to early, high torque with a very good bandwidth.
It gives the original engine, without any other changes, an increase of 2 hp. Compared to the Polini, it also increases the absolute torque by over 1Nm.
You can already feel this quite clearly while driving, because this higher torque extends over the wide speed range of 3000-5500rpm, which is very important for everyday use.

Performance data and improvement compared to the original exhaust: 11,5PS / 17,4Nm (+ 2,0PS / + 1,2Nm)

EXHAUST COMPARISON ON A POWERFUL ENGINE WITH MALOSSI 210 SPORT CYLINDER

The modified engine in this test is, despite the changed cylinder and crankshaft, still extremely tour-friendly and rock solid with, albeit very sporty, classic Vespa characteristics. The engine therefore develops at least the same performance as a standard engine from the lower speed range, with significantly better performance in the middle and upper speed range.

POLINI BOX ON PX200 ENGINE WITH MALOSSI 210CCM CYLINDER
The Polini Box works very well on the Malossi Sport cylinder and offers a considerable plus compared to the original exhaust (+ 5,4PS). Up to 4200rpm it is a little below the level of the original exhaust, but then takes in more air from 6000rpm and offers a good peak performance.

Performance data and improvement compared to the original exhaust: 21,2PS / 23,7Nm (+ 5,4PS / + 3,4Nm)

BGM BIGBOX TOURING ON PX200 ENGINE WITH MALOSSI 210CCM CYLINDER
The BGM BigBox Touring works perfectly on the Malossi Sport cylinder and offers a very high torque from idle. At 5000 rpm it is a whole horsepower stronger than the Polini Box and already reaches its performance peak at 6000 rpm. So the name says it all and every touring rider with the BigBox Touring is on the safe side when it comes to perfect drivability and thrust from the low revs. Compared to the standard exhaust, + 3,5Nm are extracted from the engine, all at a significantly lower speed level. If you are in a hurry, you can benefit from the wide speed range of the BBT, which still lets the engine turn easily up to over 7500 rpm with a lot of power on the rear wheel. That is already over 125km / h with a standard gearbox, with such a motor pulling a longer gear ratio without any problems. Fast motorway stretches are therefore not only not a problem despite the early onset of torque, they are also a lot of fun!

Performance data and improvement compared to the original exhaust: 19,9PS / 23,8Nm (+ 4,1PS / + 3,5Nm)

BGM BIGBOX SPORT ON PX200 ENGINE WITH MALOSSI 210CCM CYLINDER
Friends of the classic two-stroke characteristic will love the BGM BigBox Sport. If you want the resonance kick *, go a long way and at the same time expect a high level of performance, this is the place for you. On the Malossi Sport cylinder it is still a little underchallenged, but this is ideal for those who want to expand their engine concept. The Malossi Sport cylinder is ideally suited for this, as it offers the identical overcurrent layout as the much more powerful MHR brother.
The latter works best on a diaphragm-controlled inlet (or a heavily revised rotary valve inlet) with a large carburetor. Therefore, the MHR was not used as a basis in this test. However, increasing the control angle and enlarging the exhaust window quickly bring the Malossi Sport cylinder into very high performance regions. With the BBS, as the BigBox Sport is also called in short, engine outputs of well over 25 HP are then easily possible.
But even on an engine with a fairly conventional design, as used in this test, the BBS has the winner's crown in terms of top performance. The nice thing about it is that, despite the highest performance peak in the test field, it runs almost as powerfully as a standard exhaust up to approx. 5000 rpm. This is rather unusual for exhaust systems with high peak performance. From 5000 rpm, however, there is no stopping and the exhaust begins to fully charge. It then maintains the high peak power over a wide speed range. Perfect for chugging through the city inconspicuously and taking out the performance hammer in between times. As I said, the BigBox Sport works with more powerful engines and does not stop at a performance of over 30PS / 30NM (see here also the Performance diagrams in the online shop). In summary, one can say that the BBS is the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing.

(* you can feel the turbo-like use of the exhaust)

Performance data and improvement compared to the original exhaust: 22,0PS / 23,7Nm (+ 6,2PS / + 3,4Nm)

Scorpion Red Power exhaust systems

Noble exhaust for Vespa and other scooters: Scorpion - Handmade in England

The Scorpion exhaust systems for Vespa have been with us since the 90s. At that time, the manageable noble forge from England was of course still building 2-stroke systems for the classic Vespa and Lambretta models. Even then, the Scorpion exhaust was one of the first stainless steel exhaust systems and is still impressive today, especially in terms of quality.

A lot has happened in the meantime. That Scooter Center celebrates its 2017th anniversary in 25 and Scorpion has developed into one of the leading exhaust system manufacturers for 4- and 2-wheelers.

Mufflers and exhaust systems

Exhaust systems rear silencers

In our ScootersYou will not only find hop for exhaust systems specially designed for your scooter, but also for individual ones rear silencer and exhaust accessories.

Why is it needed on a scooter?

The silencers on or in the exhaust of your scooter are used to reduce engine noise. Rear silencers are located downstream of a possibly built-in catalytic converter: END silencer -> mounted at the end. Especially with the 2-stroke engine, the exhaust silencer has a decisive influence on the engine characteristics.

Mufflers and exhaust systems

Buy sport exhaust

For a few years now, vehicle manufacturers have been making a little more effort and installing sportier-looking exhaust systems from the factory. Nevertheless: what we scooter drivers usually want is the personal customization of the scooter, which is why sports silencers or entire sports exhaust systems are on popular tuning product.

Typically, these popular plants offer one sportier exhaust sound and higher quality material, quality and better look. You will mostly be using a EC type-approval offered and are therefore often free of registration, but then do not bring more performance. Real sports exhaust systems are different, with the other engine components being adapted accordingly significant increases in performance expected. These are then only for the racetrack or have to be individually approved and entered by the TÜV.

Sports exhaust racing scooter

The BigBox trend has been around here for some time. Real sports exhaust systems in the original look. Here we recommend the bgm PRO BigBox for Vespa as a sport or touring version and the Big Box Lambretta.

Mount the exhaust system / rear silencer on the scooter

The assembly is usually carried out at the original breakpoints on the scooter. The exhaust should match the engine and the desired driving characteristics (e.g. high torque = power for city and travel). Usually the engine has to be adjusted to the new exhaust system. Ignition timing and carburetor adjustment should be checked and adjusted. Ignition adjustment tools such as the WAL (Classic Vespa), the BELUGA (Lambretta) and one are suitable here Ignition gun and Nozzle sets.

Repair dampers / new insulation

If insulating wool is installed, it can dissolve over time. We offer Exhaust insulation wool with which you can re-insulate the rear silencer.

You can read about the exact equipment of the Platonika with our bgm177 cylinder here in the blog link to blog

ventilated, this engine represents a drive machine of the current generation.

Lambretta resonance exhaust and Big Box prototype test

A Lambretta exhaust test: the new and upcoming Lambretta Big Box is currently in production. A delivery date is unfortunately still unknown.

Exhaust test on the Scooter Center Performance test bench

The Lambretta exhaust systems in the test

Before we sent the final sample to Spain, the new box was put through its paces again. Lambretta exhaust test: Another prototype box from our friend Chalky from Replay Scooters and JPP  came directly to the test bench:

  • bgm PRO BigBox Proto
  • JPP box prototype

The following resonance racing exhaust systems competed against the pits:

  • the TSR Evo,
  • the JL3 and
  • in MB3

And all three Reso systems did better against the speakers than we would have expected!

The Lambretta engine

The test engine was constructed as follows:

Polini box Vespa

TIPP: The Carburetor jets Choose approx. 2-3 sizes larger than a SIP Road

Vespa PX Polini exhaust box

Scopion Vespa mod

Successful in motorsport

RED POWER: Motorsport is the team's passion and plays a central role at Scorpion, where successes have already been achieved in the BTCC, Porsche Cup, VW Racing Cup, World Endurance, Time Attack and Superbike. Series production naturally also benefits from this experience.

Of course, the exhaust systems are approved.
The necessary EC permits and operating permits are created directly by the manufacturer. For this, Scorpion was certified according to DIN EN ISO 9002. Your guarantee for quality and safety.

Performance like a Vespa racing exhaust - Looks and acoustics almost like a standard exhaust

BGM1011SP (1)

Purebred Vespa racing exhaust

The BGM BigBox Sport is a thoroughbred racing exhaust, in the unsuspicious design of an original exhaust. It positions itself as a clear alternative to eye-catching and mostly loud and large resonance exhaust systems. the high motivation clearly sets it apart from other boxing systems. Designed for performance-oriented drivers who appreciate the benefits of an inconspicuous vehicle.

The performance potential of the BigBox SPORT grows with the engine concept

Like any good racing exhaust, the Sport Box requires a powerful engine concept in order to be able to develop its full performance. Around cylinders like that Polini 210, Malossi MHR and Co. it offers impressive results. See performance diagrams from test runs on our in-house Scooter Center Dynamometer further down.

It also supports engine outputs above 25PS without any problems and pushes ahead with full torque. Despite their high peak performance the Sport Box rises with one early high torque and also enables comfortable driving.

Due to its consistent design for a high gas throughput, the BigBox Sport is not intended for use with near-series engines or tame tuning cylinders. It needs a clear and powerful discharge impulse to get the large volume and the thick elbow to fill the Sport Box with life.

PRO:

  • Original optics
  • Top performance like a resonance exhaust
  • No performance hole
  • Broad speed range
  • More top speed
  • Very unobtrusive
  • Also fits rally / sprint without modifications
  • Solid construction with clamp on the cylinder
  • Handmade in SPAIN

CON:

  • Not for vehicles with 8 inch tires (ground clearance too low)
  • Not for near-series engines

Fixing and assembly

The assembly is easy. The elbow is attached to the cylinder using a clamp. The sealing is done for the different outlet pipe diameters in the 200cc models by insert plates. Compared to a loose fastening with an O-ring seal, this results in the best stability and prevents damage to the outlet flange. A long spacer on the rear shock absorber could be used for even greater ground clearance.

And finally ...

Pure understatement. Performance like a racing exhaust, optics and sound similar to an original exhaust.

Depending on the engine concept, the BigBox, just like a resonance exhaust, can significantly increase performance.

BigBox SPORT on 12PS Vespa PX200

Even as a classy racing exhaust, the BigBox SPORT can mobilize more torque on a 12 HP original Vespa engine in the upper speed range. In comparison here against an old friend, the Sito Plus. But then things really get going on a tuned Polini or Malossi engine. See below.

The BigBox Sport provide more power and torque.

With this engine, further processing of the Einalssform and one bgm Pro crankshaft sure to achieve even more power and, above all, torque in the lower speed range.

With main stand

Of course with the PX but even with Vespa Rally, Sprint, GT, GTR models the main stand still fits!

To accommodate the manifold length on the vehicle was not really easy, it took us a few tries to find a course that was as close as possible fits many vehicles and does not collide with the main stand or the footplate.

With the Rally, Sprint, GT, GTR models, the distance to the stand feet is often critical in connection with a 200 engine. With the BigBox Sport, we made sure that there was enough space here and on the main stand.

BigBox Sport 200

Maximale Bodenfreiheit

Although the BigBox lives up to its name due to the design, we also took the appropriate ground clearance into account when laying it.
As usual with the Largeframe Models, as a rule, only have the kick starter screw and the gear shift in contact with the road.

bigbox sport 125 005

However, we have to advise against using the BigBox Sport for the 200 cc on vehicles with 8 ″ tires.

Please check the clearance of the elbow to the footplate and the roadway. In individual cases, you can still correct this with a longer spacer on the rear shock absorber.

Bigbox TOURING for 10 "and 8" Vespa

We are working on the touring version of the BigBox for those who love engines that deliver their torque at low speeds. This will then also be suitable for the 8 ″ models.

Vespa racing exhaust

The Vespa racing exhaust

The bgm BigBox Sport is a thoroughbred racing exhaust, in the unsuspicious design of an original exhaust. She positions herself as better alternative to conspicuous and mostly loud and large resonance exhaust systems. The high level of motivation clearly sets it apart from other boxing systems. Designed for performance-oriented drivers who appreciate the benefits of an inconspicuous vehicle.

Like any good racing exhaust, the Sport Box requires a powerful engine concept in order to be able to develop its full performance. Around cylinders like that Quattrini M1X and Co. it offers impressive results. It also supports engine outputs above 25PS without any problems and pushes ahead with full torque. Despite its high peak performance, the Sport Box gets in early and also enables comfortable driving.

Not for series or touring engines

Due to its consistent design for a high gas throughput, the BigBox Sport is not intended for use with near-series engines or tame tuning cylinders. It needs a clear and powerful outlet impulse to fill the large volume and the thick elbow of the Sport Box with life.

Due to the significantly increased volume and a new manifold, the BigBox Sport is a powerful companion for engines with sporty characteristics.

BGM1010SP (2)

That is new

Compared to the BigBox you have known so far, we now have the BigBox Sport for the small motors of the Vespa Largeframe Models, in addition to the new manifold, also incorporate other changes.

Development and test runs

Among other things, an engine with an LML membrane, a 24 SI carburetor and a 60 bgm crankshaft served as a test victim.

In addition to one Polini 177 we also have an unedited one here Quattrini M1x plugged onto this engine.

Despite the small LML membrane with the thick steel plates, the Polini 177, which is known to be rather tame, develops a remarkable curve.

POLINI177 60MM SPORT

To something more overflow duct and outlet area, the BigBox Sport reacts as expected - here in direct comparison with a Quattrini M1X on the same engine.

poli177 M1X sports

When relocating the new large manifold, we looked for the best possible way so that there was enough space for the roadway, frame and main stand, which was not so easy with the dimensions of the new Vespa racing exhaust. We needed some stencils, samples and test systems so that the process now applies to almost all of them Largeframes fits.

The development of the new Vespa exhaust

From the first prototype (left) to the finished, tested and approved exhaust,

bigbox sport 125 006

it was a little further way ...

bigbox sport 125 009

However, we also made sure that the bgm PRO BigBox Sport, sits correctly despite its dimensions. Especially with the Vespa Rally and Vespa Sprint models
it is quite difficult, due to the chassis geometry, the position and the distance of the main stand to the engine, one good course a DAK Bungalow.

Copy of bigbox Sport 125 002

However, we definitely recommend for Vespa Rally / Vespa Sprint and similar models to check the distance to the road and maybe a little longer distance piecek to be used for the rear shock absorber.

We have to exclude the use on the Vespa models with 8 ″ tires on our part.

Vespa bgm PRO BigBox Touring

Of course we also looked in another direction:

So that you can use an original cylinder from Pinasco, DR or a PX150 can also take a BigBox for a walk, we are currently doing one Touring variant of the BigBox to develop. We have focused on an even earlier performance and torque entry. The BigBox Touring is also available on the Vespa Largeframe Models with 8 ″ tires can be used.

The Vespa BigBox Sport takes care of:
