1.800 Lambretta crazy people from all over the world met this weekend at the Adria Raceway for the 28th Eurolambretta 2017 in Italy.

We were of course at the start with our stand and, with bgm TUNING, above all presented our own products. With 35 degrees of heat at our booth, we worked up a sweat. But thanks to the many nice people, the great conversations and the overwhelming feedback, we rocked the Eurolambretta and provided everyone with merchandise and advice.

Compared to a conventional electronic ignition, the BGM ignition base plate has specially combined coil windings. This is the The efficiency of the alternator has been significantly improved again.

AC / DC?
The alternators are available as AC and DC versions:

  • AC = alternating current = light via alternator
  • DC = direct current = light via battery

AC
The AC variant is best for converting to a good electronic ignition. In principle, the on-board network is retained as it was designed by Innocenti, albeit best with a fresh wiring harness.

DC
The conversion to DC only makes sense with the simultaneous conversion to a sufficiently dimensioned battery (from 5Ah). Here, the entire luminous flux feeds only the battery via a so-called full wave regulator. This then supplies all consumers. The required full-wave controller is included in the corresponding AC set, please order the battery separately. The advantage lies in the perfect light without flickering, even when idling. The disadvantages are the required battery, the high charging losses in the lower speed range (controller gets very warm) and the necessary modifications to the wiring harness.

OUR TIP:

The DC ignition can also be used as an AC ignition at any time. To do this, connect the red / yellow cable to ground. The yellow cable must then be connected as a live cable to a conventional voltage regulator (e.g. BGM6690).

FOR WHICH ENGINES?
The ignition kits are available for both types of crankshafts in the Lambretta Series 3 models:

  • Small alternator cone: LI, LIS, SX, TV
  • Large alternator cone: GP / DL

Note: The BGM ignition was carefully designed and harmonizes perfectly with all common ignition components, especially with the BGM pole wheel.
So that the BGM ignition always finds optimal conditions, we include spacer plates for the pickup with version 4.0. This means that the base plate can also be combined with pole wheels whose trigger surface height (tear-off surface of the PickUp) is outside the norm (e.g. AF pole wheels) or if the tolerances of the motor housing and / or crankshaft overlap unfavorably.

Lambretta World Rally with Scooter Center

This weekend it went for that Scooter Center Team to Monza / Italy to set up our stand at the 70 ° Lambretta Anniversary World Rally.

Fortunately, we missed the hail showers on Friday and arrived in Monza on Saturday morning with the best Italian weather. the Scooter Center / bgm booth was an immediate crowd puller.

The trip on Friday went to the former Innocenti factories - and some Lambretisti, armed with screwdrivers, bought souvenirs from the former factory premises?

Saturday noon the highlight of the event: around 500 scooters were free to drive on the racetrack for 2 hours.

Overall, the organization was perceived by some of the participants as a bit chaotic - but let's be honest: we love Italy for that, in the end everything worked out and we have another favorite spot in Italy.

For our BGM Superstrong Lambretta clutch, we can now also offer the right centering aid for inserting the springs.

With the centering aid BGM8011TL2 it is very easy to position all springs in their place of use during assembly.

The BGM Superstrong for Lambretta already has a "built-in" clutch compressor system.

The coupling comes with two screws and long nuts for this purpose.
On the face of the coupling spider, two of the legs are marked with a point, at the bottom of which is the threaded hole for the screw.

The screws for pre-tensioning the base plate are threaded in here.

The cut-out in the centering aid exposes areas for the tall nuts, which are used to preload the coupling for assembly.

 

Very simple: as soon as the coupling is pre-tensioned, the centering aid can simply be pulled out.

 

 

 

Modern butyl hoses for Vespa and Lambretta

The new bgm hoses have been specially developed according to our specifications for the needs of classic scooters. The tuning measures and, accordingly, the performance development has skyrocketed here in recent years. There are modern disc brakes and a great chassis with the bgm shock absorbers. When it comes to tires, we scooter drivers mostly benefit from the development of new motorcycle tires, the innovations here are transferred to the small tire sizes. But nothing has changed with the hose for decades. We have now changed that:

Our hoses are specially manufactured for the requirements of the Vespa and Lambretta:

There is a model with a classic 90 ° valve position for Vespa and Co. and a special hose with a perfect 45 ° valve position for Lambretta. The valves are vulcanized in this model-specific position. The butyl content is over 50%, that's what she does extremely airtight and absolutely reliable. The high butyl content makes the hose expensive to manufacture, but in our opinion the result justifies the effort.

True to detail for the classic look

For the detail lover, we not only paid attention to the safety-relevant, correct angle of the valve position with the valve of the lambretta hose, but also to the metal valve cap with combined valve extractor. Just like it was with the old Lambrettas back then.

 

High quality and perfect fit

Hoses with a lower butyl content have more flexibility due to a larger rubber content and thus serve a larger range of possible tire sizes (up to 130 / 90-10). A major disadvantage, however, is poor airtightness. In favor of the better product quality, we therefore decided on a high butyl content and thus on a supported tire size of up to 100 / 90-10. For your security!

Despite the perfect fit for the Vespa rims: The Vespa is also known as the mother of all motor scooters. Often copied and never matched. This has one advantage: The bgm Vespa hoses are iCan be used in many other vehicles with ten inch tubular tires.

Assembly tips

When assembling the tires on the bead insert with assembly paste and Dust the inside of the tire with talc. The assembly paste ensures the correct end position of the tire while the talcum minimizes the friction of the tube.

The LCD (Lambretta Club Germany) really celebrated its 50th birthday: Eurolambretta 2016 in Geiselwind!

Of course we were there and presented our latest bgm developments to the Lambretta world. In the best weather we had a lot of interested visitors at our stand and great discussions with our customers.

What do you have to do with scooters:

The scooters are quite a central part of the day at the latest after I've turned my hobby into a job. At the moment I ride my TV 200 down everyday. Otherwise I only drive the Lambretta. My only Vespa never drives and if always only sporadically and then the great battery ignition goes on strike again or the carburetor boils over. And then I cook over.

I've been riding a scooter for 23 years now, starting with a PX 80 in weathered red ... In 1994 I got my first Lambretta Scooter Center (at that time still in the rose garden) bought. For 2.600 DM an SX 200 in the original paint with German papers and fresh TÜV. The original paint was quickly a thing of the past, as was the battery holder that got in the way of the TS1.

There are too many wonderful experiences with and around the scooter. The highlight this year was definitely the ride with one of the original 2-cylinder prototypes at the Open Day at the Rimini Lambretta Center.
